Legendary Kelvin Timeline Intel Battlecruiser

Beauty Shot

Overview

The Legendary Kelvin Timeline Intel Battlecruiser represents the best and brightest of the 'Kelvin' timeline, a universe where tragedy and intrigue have shaped the events of the 23rd century. Often in situations where it was outclassed and outgunned, the U.S.S. Enterprise pulled through by the skin of its teeth in several occasions thanks to the ingenuity of Chief Engineer Montgomery Scott and his assistant Engineer Keenser. To understand threats waiting for them in the unknown, they added a full intelligence sensor suite. To repel powerful starships, they added another forward weapon emplacement and the ability to mount dual canons and improved maneuverability. The modifications they made to the Enterprise have been propagated to other Constitution-class starships in the Kelvin Timeline Starfleet, yielding the Legendary Kelvin Timeline Intel Battlecruiser.

Strengths

The previous incarnation of the Kelvin Constitution-class was a Heavy Command Cruiser, a somewhat unwieldy beast with four weapons mounted in front and four in back, and Command specialist seating that made it an excellent platform for tanking. This new Constitution is a very different ship, with a much more aggressive 5/3 weapon layout, and specialist seating now focuses on Intelligence rather than Command. While still a very durable ship, with plenty of space for engineering abilities, this is a much more offense-oriented ship with a considerably faster turn rate. With these changes, the Legendary Kelvin Timeline Intel Battlecruiser should be able to give as good as it gets.

Equipment

This build uses easily-obtained equipment, including only standard gear and pieces which can be obtained through Fleet Holdings and/or mission rewards. See below for upgrade suggestions using more difficult-to-obtain gear.

Clearly, upgrading gear to Mark XV and Epic quality will provide the best results. However, see the Suggested Upgrades section below before heavily investing in gear you may be replacing before long.

Given the Kelvin Timeline Intel Battlecruisers new front-heavy weapons layout, we've gone for a build that relies on keeping the nose of the ship pointed at enemies. A bank of dual beams, enhanced with Beams: Overload, should cause serious damage to anything unfortunate enough to have crossed in front of it.

Weapons

Ideally, in keeping with the ship's origin, we'd like to use Kelvin Timeline phasers for this build. However, there are two reasons we havent: first, Kelvin Timeline phasers are difficult to obtain, with upgradable weapons currently ony available from lock boxes. The second reason is that the Kelvin Timeline phasers currently in the game are some of the weakest phaser weapons available due to their underwhelming proc effect. If you really like the look or want to stay thematic, feel free to use them, though. While they are weaker than other phasers (even generic ones), the difference is not a large one.

Fore Weapons

  • Quantum Phase Torpedo Launcher
  • Quantum Phase Beam Array
  • Phaser Dual Beam Bank (x3)
Using the Quantum Phase Torpedo Launcher and Quantum Phase Beam Array from the "Sunrise" mission in the Future Proof arc with Console - Universal - Quantum Phase Converter enables the three-piece bonus from the Quantum Phase Catalysts set. This increases Accuracy and shield drain, as well as enabling the Quantum Destabilizing Beam ability, which deals additional phaser damage and transfers power from enemy ships.

Aft Weapons

  • Phaser Beam Array (x2)
  • Trilithium-Enhanced Omni-Directional Phaser Beam Array

Using the Trilithium-Enhanced Omni-Directional Phaser Beam Array from the "Sunrise" mission in the Future Proof arc with Console - Engineering - Reinforced Armaments provides the two-piece bonus from the Trilithium-Laced Weaponry set which increases flight speed and weapon fire rates.

Deflector

  • Elite Fleet Intervention Protomatter Deflector Array from the Fleet Colony holding

The Elite Fleet Intervention Protomatter Deflector Array provides additional Impulse Expertise, as well as bonuses to Weapon Specialization and Shield Penetration to make this build even more deadly.

Impulse

  • Bajor Defense Hyper-Impulse Engines from the New Frontiers mission "Scylla and Charybdis."

The Bajor Defense Hyper-Impulse Engines provide bonuses to flight speed and turn rate, in addition to a phaser damage bonus when used with the shield from the Bajor Defense set.

Core

  • Elite Fleet Plasma-Integrated Warp Core [AMP] from the Fleet Spire holding.

Shield

  • Bajor Defense Covariant Shield Array from the New Frontiers mission "Scylla and Charybdis."

The Bajor Defense Covariant Shield Array provides bonuses to shield capacity and regeneration, in addition to a phaser damage bonus when used with the engines from the Bajor Defense set.

Devices

  • Shields Battery
  • Weapons Battery
  • Subspace Field Modulator from the "Skirmish" mission.

Engineering Consoles

  • Console - Universal - Auxiliary Ejection Assembly
  • Console - Universal - Quantum Phase Converter from the "Sunrise" mission in the "Future Proof" arc.
  • Console - Engineering - Reinforced Armaments from New Frontiers mission "Beyond the Nexus"
  • Console - Engineering - Trellium-D Plating from Future Proof mission "Ragnarok"
  • Console - Engineering - RCS Accelerator

Science Consoles

  • Console - Science - Temporal Disentanglement Suite from Iconian War mission "Butterfly"
  • Console - Science - Emitter Array

Tactical Consoles

The tactical console slots are filled with four Console - Tactical - Vulnerability Locator [+Pha] which can be purchased from the Fleet Spire holding. These consoles are the best tactical consoles you can get for boosting phaser damage.

  • Console - Tactical - Vulnerability Locator [+Pha] (x4)

Note: You can also use Console - Tactical - Energetic Protomatter Matrix Infuser [+Pha] from the Fleet Colony at a slight cost to DPS. These consoles provide a bonus to weapon damage, as well as healing hull and shields when activating special firing modes such as Beams: Fire at Will with energy weapons. Mixing the two types of consoles to maximize offense while providing a comfortable amount of defense is also an option.

Bridge Officers

The bridge officer seating of the Legendary Kelvin Timeline Intel Battlecruiser allows the use of a somewhat advanced type of build commonly known as Aux2Bat. This involves using two copies of the Engineering skill "Auxiliary Power to Emergency Battery" to reduce cooldowns and cause all bridge officer abilities to be usable more often.

Note that for this approach to be effective, you should slot three Technician Deck Officers into active space slots, of the best quality you can find. They should also have the ability "Bridge Officer power recharges reduced by x% after activating Auxiliary Power to the Emergency Battery." This will allow all of your Bridge Officer abilities to be used more frequently, which can dramatically increase DPS as well as provide increased defense through uptime on engineering and science abilities.
