Here in Europe the CE is €150! $150 is cheap compared to that.
I had hoped to try out the the game in open beta before having to decide on buying it. If i get hooked on this game later on, i will regret not having pre-ordered all the fancy stuff.
I tried searching the CE on amazon.com, but it's not even visible to me, i only see the standard version. The local Belgian shops listed on the pre-order site, don't even have the pre-order CE (yet). I found it on a Dutch website. I can order it for €149.99 and they'll send the pre-order code by post (yes physically) on august 3rd!
If i want things like the special in-game store of which i have no idea if it will be something convenient (i know it's something non-game-changing), i have to decide on spending €150 ($216) on a game i hope i will like, but don't know for sure (don't even know when the game will be released).
Sorry for all the whining. I had to get this of my chest. No point in putting this on the sw:tor forum, there's enough whining there already.
I currently play LOTRO. Turbine squeezes its players for money from time to time. Seems like sw:tor will be the same thing: €150 for the pre-order fluff version. Ah you pre-ordered the game before knowing the subscription price, no you don't get a discount, you can pay €20 per month like everyone else. Next year: you can buy the expansion at €50 if you want to reach the new end-cap.
I'm probably very wrong. It will all turn out fine. They have been spending a fortune on this game, so they need the money. All other mmorpg's have trouble adding a decent of content. swtor is full of voice-acting so that explains why it's so expensive.
