I'm probably very wrong. It will all turn out fine. They have been spending a fortune on this game, so they need the money. All other mmorpg's have trouble adding a decent of content. swtor is full of voice-acting so that explains why it's so expensive.

It's so expensive because there's an $60-80 statue included in the CE. It's got 2 in game items over the DD version, a music CD, some aluminium cases, some maps and an overpriced statue for $70 USD more than the DD and $90 USD more than the standard. The reason it's also €150 is because their accountants feel they can wee on the Europeans' legs and tell them it's rain.

I was able to get a collector's edition from Gamestop. That was the part that I was unhappy about but you take what you can get sometimes.

It was decided for me. No more collectors editions available. So i pre-ordered on Origin.

How many pre-orders do we already have in the guild? How many did we needed?

Re: AAAAaaaarrrrgggghhhhh

Here in Europe the CE is €150! $150 is cheap compared to that.

I had hoped to try out the the game in open beta before having to decide on buying it. If i get hooked on this game later on, i will regret not having pre-ordered all the fancy stuff.

I tried searching the CE on amazon.com, but it's not even visible to me, i only see the standard version. The local Belgian shops listed on the pre-order site, don't even have the pre-order CE (yet). I found it on a Dutch website. I can order it for €149.99 and they'll send the pre-order code by post (yes physically) on august 3rd!

If i want things like the special in-game store of which i have no idea if it will be something convenient (i know it's something non-game-changing), i have to decide on spending €150 ($216) on a game i hope i will like, but don't know for sure (don't even know when the game will be released).

Sorry for all the whining. I had to get this of my chest. No point in putting this on the sw:tor forum, there's enough whining there already.

I currently play LOTRO. Turbine squeezes its players for money from time to time. Seems like sw:tor will be the same thing: €150 for the pre-order fluff version. Ah you pre-ordered the game before knowing the subscription price, no you don't get a discount, you can pay €20 per month like everyone else. Next year: you can buy the expansion at €50 if you want to reach the new end-cap.

I'm probably very wrong. It will all turn out fine. They have been spending a fortune on this game, so they need the money. All other mmorpg's have trouble adding a decent of content. swtor is full of voice-acting so that explains why it's so expensive.

Would there be anyway to post a map of the new Qo'noS? Have you seen one that points out where everything is?

Great question. Actually it's funny you should ask, as I am currently working on a guide to KDF gameplay guide which will start as a map of the First City and orbital shipyards.

Later the guide will include KDF DOFF guides, ship and character selection help, KDF tactics, and much more.

Awesome! Thanks! [confidential]in the mean time, you could link this if you want hehe: http://www.stowiki.org/File:First_City_map.png updated! had wrong link[/confidential]

Re: Beta testing

July 22 2011
I've tested out several of the classes but the game was very unpolished and buggy then. It was just to test the mechanics of the classes though I got a taste of combat and systems like cover and the notorious bioware decision making system (though it was kind of limited and didn't see any real differences).

I'm still waiting to see if I'll get another beta invite, it feels so lonely without...

The Office of the Chief of Klingon Affairs

July 22 2011
Hi, I got this idea from Brandon's thread for The Office of the Admiral of Intelligence, and thought it would be nice to have a separate thread with a Klingon twist.

I am General Josh, our Chief of Klingon Affairs. I am here to help all fleet members with the game in general, but specifically I am here for our Klingon Warrior fleet members. If ANYBODY has any questions about how things work on the "Red Side", just post them here, and I assure you, I will do my best to find the answer for you.

I work at home and check the forums often, so I'll try to answer all queries promptly.

Re: Pre-Order information

Necessary to note that no non-NA or European countries are being serviced at launch. Australia, New Zealand, Japan, South America etc. all have to wait...

http://www.swtor.com/community/showthread.php?t=383625

Unless we preorder from Amazon or such, we are out in the cold...

"Unfortunately, to achieve the goal of an exceptional game service certain territories could not be serviced at launch."

Much much unhappiness on the topic

Got my CE pre-ordered through local Gamestop after work today. Got the early access code, entered it on the SWTOR site so I'm good to go.

Megan (the clerk who did the transaction) breezed through it like she'd been doing it all her life.

I used to manage a Software Etc. (Before it was Gamestop) and you do end up doing constant pre-orders. The only difficult ones were the big platform machine (PS2, Dreamcast, N64, etc) releases because you sometimes had limited numbers coming in due to the either short sightedness by Nintendo/Sega/Sony or due to them intentionally not shipping enough to satisfy demand so they could force the demand up so they could justify their prices. You ended up having to take pre-orders for release batches, then people would come in every pay check and want to pay a little bit at a time on the pre-order (Which was great, because we had guaranteed sales, at that point, but a hassle because all of our pre-orders were paper slips with stacks of folded credit receipts stapled to them and had to be kept filed and organised with all of the normal preorders.)

The biggest annoyance and hassle with pre-orders was trade-in preorders, especially when people would want to trade an old system in for a new one that was coming out. You had to open everything, hook it all up to one of the TVs and then test it out to make sure it worked. It was never, ever, convenient or easy, due to the layout of the store and the limited counter space.

Sorry... Blathered a bit.

Anyway, yeah, game pre-orders where you're actually paying money are a breeze. Just run it like you're selling the actual product, type in the info, print the receipt, et viola. Once the pre-order process went digital, our customers didn't even need to keep their receipts because it was all stored in the system (though we encouraged them to keep them, nonetheless, just in case of DB issues so they could prove they put X dollars down.)

=edit=

Back on topic, though (sorry I got distracted, there. >.

$80 or so of the CE is basically the Statue. The Gentle Giant statues normally go for $60-$80 each.

Thank you for the summary. Sadly, the most important question has so far gone unanswered: Is the holodancer only female? Or can we have a studly male holodancer, if we prefer?

:silly:

I could care less about the dancer, what I want to know is "Is the exclusive item store" worth the $90 extra dollars? They should give some examples of items in it, at least. If they want my $150 instead of my $60, they'd better cough up some better info.
