New SWTOR Digital Expansion: The Shadow of Revan

Star Wars: The Old Republic has announced its new upcoming expansion entitled: The Shadow of Revan. They'll be raising the lvl cap to 60 and it appears we'll have some sort of cross-faction flashpoints and/or operations. Also I'm pretty sure that I saw some shots of Yavin 4, squee! Yes, thanks QiqJoe, that's right. Whether you're a subscriber or not, you still can level quickly through your character's storyline when you purchase the expansion now through December third. Really too good an opportunity to pass up if you're an alt-aholic like myself. :laugh:

Exactly. That's the reason I've preordered it.
I got only one character (smuggler), however I'm a bit too far in my story-line compared to my current level (45). Stuck at Voss and had to go back to Hoth where I got only one mission to level up grrrrr

If I take advantage of the 12x boost, can I still return and complete all the non-class missions I skipped along the way?

You should be able to, yes. I believe you're always able to go back and complete any skipped general storyline missions on any planet.

Yup, you can complete those missions at any time. I remember when I first discovered the missions on Dromund Kaas just southeast of Kaas City. I had no idea that little area was up there with 2-3ish missions. I had to go back on all my toons I had leveled past there and complete it (I hate leaving ANYTHING unfinished).

Quite interesting....when I pre-ordered the expansion there was NO MENTION of the 12x xp leveling being limited to class missions. It was just an announcement of increased leveling capability which I thought was a GREAT reason to pre-order....Oh well, hopefully the 3 or 4 class missions per planet will be enough to get a character to 55. I will just have to give it a try to find out for sure!

Yeah, it's been going really well so far if you do ALL the missions on a planet. Right now I'm skipping some of the general-world content (and will come back to it) on my Bounty Hunter and Trooper, which are the only classes I haven't maxed out yet. I'm not sure if that's a sustainable way to go; I've heard people in-game say they have to complete some other content to supplement the class missions while they're leveling.

Regardless, though, leveling is much faster even with the class missions just at 12x. It makes you much more over-leveled, which makes the fights easier.

Does anyone know if the 12x continues past the release of Shadow of Revan? Or is it just on the lead-up to the release?

EDIT: Just looked at the website regarding the 12x XP:

The event will run until midnight on December 1st, at which point XP rates for class missions will return to normal for all players.

I'm a completionist so I can't leave a planet till I've completed all the missions which means I'm WAY ahead of the leveling curve for the planet so this does nothing for me but it's still an appreciated gesture. :)

I'm a bit confused now. Is the XP boost available only for subscribers or all who pre-ordered? Note: I'm not subscriber (only preferred status).

Hey Maxwell, the following is directly off the SWTOR website:

To qualify for the Class Experience Boost, you must pre-order the Shadow of Revan Digital Expansion and your account must be in active subscription status during the pre-order period ending December 1, 2014, at 11:59PM PST / December 2, 2014, at 7:59AM GMT. For Subscribers, the Class Experience Boost is effective immediately upon your pre-order purchase and expires December 1, 2014, at 11:59PM PST / December 2, 2014, at 7:59AM GMT.

The way I read this, you'll need a 1 or 2 month subscription to get the 12 XP boost in addition to the purchase of the expansion.

Will BioWare continue the 12x XP after SoR launch?
Although the 12x XP boost will end on December 1st, Dulfy reports that BioWare is considering adding something similar to character legacy. A 3x boost per class buff is a consideration, which would equal 12x if you had all four buffs.

That would be so awesome, and all my freaking out about getting all my toons to 55 would mean significantly less! But that would be a good addition in my opinion, a lot of people have tried the game at this point, and a lot of people are eager to get to the new end game content, which has significantly improved over time. I think it'd be good for new players to the game, helping them feel like they can "catch up" to the more established players as well as the older players who have seen a lot of the 1-50 content before.
