A new item has been added to GPL stores: The Subspace Party Nullifier.
This will render its owner immune to the jovial effects of the Subspace Party Amplifier for as long as it is held in the inventory.

What are peoples thought on the latest update? Are you for or against this implementation?

I can appreciate from an RP point of view this is a device many people will love, however, of all our stonewall events where we use the disco balls I think I am going to be disappointed to see not so many people dancing any more! I can only hope that those of you who will obtain such a device will appropriately stow it in your Bank when you attend hosted events :)

Especially Morale lead events!!!

The whole idea is just silly, its not like dancing stops you from using banks, vendors and such. :pinch:

Well every party has its wallflower, I suppose.

I don't think this will be under my must haves.

The disco ball issue has raged on on the STO forum for months and months, players whinging on about being in social zones like DS9 and they just want a quiet game of Dabo then BAM the are "forced" to dance.

No one is forced to do anything, you just move out of the catchment area and carry on doing what your doing, but sadly the DEVS have pandered to the whinging and whining and brought out the nullifier.

Next rage on topic on STO Forum ... "I bought Subspace nullifier thingy and it doesn't work - Cryptc you made me pay for something that is broken ... fix now"

All I know is it bugged the time out of me when a non-fleet member crashed a fleet trivia event some time back and kept spamming disco balls (which, by the way, I don't remember from any Star Trek incarnation) at a time when we absolutely did not need it. Only way I dealt with it was to turn off sound and enlarge my chat box to cover the whole screen.

Needless to say, I'm not a fan of the disco balls in general. I also think it's silly to see Vulcans dancing about having a fantabulous time. That said, let people have their fun. I think the nullifier is a good compromise.

I'll still be dancing with ya!

I think this is a good solution to the problem by the Devs. I think the disco ball is a great social device, but I also understand for RP reasons why some people may not want to have their Vulcan bust a move (hilarious as it may be).

I doubt I'll be rushing to buy one, but it's a simple fix to an issue that was causing some players a high level of frustration.

what is this emergency power to party - have I missed something?? and sad face, they stop you dancing even if they are in the bank, i thought it was just if they were in the inventory, so the only way to dance again is to delete it and then go buy a new one.

- Emergency Power to Party: your Subspace Party Amplifier gives anyone dancing for 10s or more a boost to dodge and avoidance for 5min (Summer Event)

Stonewall dance parties aside, of course... ;) As a casual RP'er, this is a good thing. The disco balls really are THE trolling device for social zones.

Honestly though, if they could just update the god-awful cornball dance moves in this game, we'd all be better off.
