PvP QnA

Hi all,

We know you have tons of questions about PvP and about ships and builds in general. So we will dedicate 1/2 our livestream on June 7th to answer all your questions. No questions will be too small.

Also if you submit a question you'll be entered in a drawing to win a prize. The more people we get submitting a question we get the better the prize will be. Who knows...Wing Commander? Ground Trait? Nicor? Time Ship?

If you ask more than one question each question will be considered an entry BUT it will not increase the count of people asking question to improve the quality of the prize.

*Questions must be PvP, build or game related for it to count as an entry.

2) Will you be diving into Warbirds and kdf ships in the livestreams?


Questions for pvp itself:
1) I have a fleet mogai, being run by an eng (http://www.stoacademy.com/tools/skillplanner/?build=saihsamog_4650), he is using the uni console for another sci station to give it 2 ensign and 2 lt sci skills. This makes it tough in pve, will i have to swap this for pvp?
2) This character also has a Ar'Kif and Scimitar he will eventually set up, would either of these be "proper" choices to build up for pvp?
3) On escorts is boosting power to engines on the power allocation necessary/acceptible/meh?

1) Cruisers are coming the cruisers are coming!
2) We will but probably not untill later on because KDF and Rommulan ships are not laid out as neatly as the fed ship types. I can tell you however that when we talk about carriers and hangar-ed ships we will have to talk about a few KDF ships and of course the Scimitar

I figured as much, the kdf have 4 completely different types and even each of the roms are very different from each other.

I have a few questions that can't wait until June 7:

-Has anyone used Fluidic Coccoon[sic] to effectiveness? I was thinking since tractor beams do kinetic damage and the borg cutting beam deals kinetic damage, and that it ca stack up to 25% with no cool down it could be useful. Think of all those cloaked tractor beam mines..

-Sensor analysis..how do you negate it? Apparently they changed it since i last played.

so bao and I tried the trait out. It showed a max stack of 3, but it netted about 23% damage. the tooltip says

"This effect can stack up to 5 times.
*When receiving kinetic damage 5% to increase outgoing energy damage by 5% (stacks up to 5 times)"

Maybe the buff icon thingy is bugged and only shows 3 stacks, but it probably does stack 5

When someone is cross class flying, what advice do you have, my fed main is an eng in a bug for instance.

How flexible should power allocation be in combat, does it have any real affect?

When deciding devices, should you heighten your strengths, or try to limit your weaknesses?

Are there any ships offhand that are just plain untenable in pvp?

Tell us about dual vs dual heavy.

Is it worth it to have a dual beam on a ship for beam overload?

I have a Fed/Rom Sci captain, Silas, who is tear 3ish on romulan/omega/nukara rep. He has both time ships and some blue consoles and weapons.

I've never gone the science route before and I need advice on how to build and spec a good pvp ship using the romulan version of the Wells.

Still plenty of time to submit your questions. So far we've only had a handful of people submitting questions. Not enough to give away a really good prize.

If have enough people submitting questions I'll go ahead and give away a lock box ship and maybe it's Lobi counterpart.

Semi off topic, will you guys be covering the oddball fed ships, i.e. those ships from events and such.

The two breen ships and obelisk carriers, not fed per se, but usable for feds.

What is this place called Kerrat and why should we go there?

Can a f2p casual player actually get into PvP without fancy stuff? Or is there really no hope, no hope in stovokorhell?

Is there a ground PvP tutorial?

Skills - do we need to reskill to maximise for PvP?

Is it worth maxing out skills to 9 or is that too much at the expense of others?

Which skills are best maxed/key to PvP?

I find some ships seem like they can't be killed in pvp. What insights do you have in creating these ultra survivable ships?
