Extending my gratitude...

April 19 2014
I just wanted to extend my appreciation to a few individuals whom have really enhanced my gaming experience in STO. When I first started playing Star Trek, I had two things going - a great interest in a franchise that I grew up with and a void left behind by the departure of City of Heroes/Villains.

I had heard about Star Trek's development many many years ago and even followed its progression, ups and downs, and when it seemed like it was NEVER going to come out, I had the distraction of City of Heroes until the latter was shut down. I made my way to Star Trek Online and I admit, I was absolutely overwhelmed by the wealth of content it provided. I developed some trepidation with the community because unlike City of Heroes, Star Trek was a cherished franchise and some of the players were hardcore 'Trekkies'. I played for a bit, joined a few teams until one evening, someone tore me a new orifice because I joined a 'normal STF' without having a 'proper build'.

I went for months without doing any PUGs and tried to get that 'proper build'. Well, I found out the hard way that you either need to have a lot of 'throw-away income' to compete or do PUGs and I was heavily discouraged from the latter. Anyway, I eventually joined Stonewall - having heard of them from friends on World of Warcraft and from a Facebook friend.

I was pretty much background noise within the fleet for months before I was approached by some members that took the time out to show me the ropes and have fun. I had almost forgotten that playing a game was meant to be fun but I was so caught up in trying to figure things out and spending money that I wasn't having much, if any fun, at all.

I'll admit, there was a few times I had asked for help but I was shut out by some members engaging in exchanging sexual innuendos or casting that elitist cloak but two members in particular really took the time out to bring me out from with in the shadows. I'd like to thank @chemistryset and @datura for really being patient with me and teaching me how to have fun again.

You guys rock and I really do, with absolution of heart, appreciate all your time and effort. I'm not usually good with expressing myself but I figured I would make an exception this time. Keep up the wonderful work and I look forward to many more events with my favorite white hair giant and caffeine-addicted captain.

That's great to hear such awesome feedback for our members. Like you I have noticed Janeway's awesome behaviour since her arrival. One of the reasons I set her up as a featured member this month. Thanks for taking the time to praise your fellow fleet mates like this.

Lets not forget Datura who rocks like no other.

Hey, Miraj!

I'm so happy to hear that you've been having a great experience with Stonewall so far. We're glad to have you with us!!

When I first came to Stonewall I also felt a bit like background noise. I didn't really speak to anyone and pretty much did my own thing. Coming from a rival fleet made it even more difficult to interact with other Stonewallers, but I stuck it out and began to meet all kinds of incredible individuals in this community. Now that I'm here, there's not another fleet out there that I can imagine myself being a part of.

It makes me sad to know that you have felt "shut out" at times when asking for help. We, as leaders, try our absolute best in making sure that our fleet is a friendly and welcoming environment, but unfortunately there are some instances that we are not always able to catch. If you ever have questions about the game that aren't being answered, feel free to contact a Fleet Captain, myself, or another Admiral, and we will be more than glad to assist you! Additionally, you can also post questions here on our forums.

We'll see you among the stars!

~Andrew :)

Hi Mi'raj!

Oookayyy... I don´t know what to say... and I assure you that it´s very, VERY RARELY that I´m speechless...

I appreciate it that you have again the feeling that STO is worth it to be played and you actually have fun!

And that´s the next point: that´s what a fleet is for: to receive help when you need it, to help other people when they need help and to have fun with your fleet mates.

And I really think that our fleet is special:

We have so many different, amazing people in our fleet, it´s really awesome! And I´m really glad that I´ve discovered Stonewall, even if it was accidentally, lol.

I´m proud to be a member of Stonewall! Yay!!! (and, btw, we have the best TS music channel ever, just sayin´).

And, yes: Datura rocks!!!! It´s always fun to do missions with him! But I´m sure there are more people who rock! Maybe we haven´t discovered them yet. But I´m working on it! :)

Thx again, Mi'raj, I´m really glad about your decision to join me in a stf!

Greetings! A.M. aka Janeway

MIRAJ! Coming home from family time and settling into my gaming chair and seeing this message ( ON MY BIRTHDAY!! ) no less, is one of the best presents I could have imagined! You really don't know how big my heart feels!
It's funny because I was talking with @chemistryset this week, urging her to apply for the open PVE captain position because I really do think she's unwavering in her skill at the game but also in her undying ability to pop up and help you in STO whenever and wherever you ask ( EVEN IF she's on the other side of the galaxy doffing! ).
It's people like you @Miraj and @chemistryset that make playing STO worthwhile. It is a MMO remember, solo is a necessary evil at times, but it's also great when you can find someone who shares your passion for a good sparring in the BATTLEZONE or some swift slices through some borg spheres :woohoo:
Like you pointed out, there's so many facets to this game it's almost unending what you can unearth from the wealth provided to us by the hard working DEV's! Just when I think I've seen it all, there's a new part of the game I come to know and love ... that's what makes the galaxy so fun, there's nothing but new things to learn and discover just like the shows and movies have come to teach us about the vast expanse of space!
To that end, I hope to keep discovering with those of you I have found friendship with. There's nothing better then that ;)
Sometimes I can be brash and shoot from the hip; but that's just me. At the core of it, I do have the desire to help my fleetmates play better and have MORE fun. Community is where you feel growth in the heart and @miraj you have inspired me and @chemistryset you keep it pragmatic and real and you both remind me how to be a better person !!!
There are many others who do far more than I to keep the flame and for that I am constantly grateful. I am also indebted to a great many names in Stonewall that I will not list but you know who you are :P
I only hope that I can thank each of you in a way that is special like this message was to receive for me.
Glory to your house and discovery to your fleet. WE WILL BUILD A NEW HOME!

Your efforts are appreciated ( as they say in tau dewa ).

Yep I couldn't agree more. K is an awesome lady. I consider her to be one of my bestest mates in the fleet (as well as many others). I had been playing STO for nearly three years before I ever joined a fleet, my reason for joining was Brandon, I never intentionally wanted to stay to be honest, but I did and I'm glad I did. Ive had laughs with so many in the fleet, and no matter your skill level, your ship build or any inexperience there is always those in the fleet willing to hold your hand a guide you. I would like to think I fall into that category too. So if you ever have a question or need guidance, please fon't be afraid to ask.

You are quite welcome, Andrea/Janeway. As I previously mentioned, I'm not one to express myself but I figure I would make an exception or two. You have a friend in me, even after the forcefield holding that bun together gives out (it's already showing extreme signs of duress) and the coffee has gone dried. I have so much fun teaming up with you on STFs and chatting it up on TeamSpeak.

And Datura, my love, a belated Happy Birthday! You were missed in your absence. You got a friend in here, even after you've exhausted all nine of your lives in the battlezone. Qa'pla! (I would of translated this in Klingon, but Google Translate hasn't quite caught up yet.)

Overall, the Fleet is an awesome tapestry of diversity with individuals from every walk of life. A lot of the individuals I have met recently has definitely been a positive one. And that means you too, Kimmy (@kimilith?) You all rock!

Mi'raj/Tal'shiara sighing out. May the Force be with you. (Dammit, wrong IP again)
