Server Transfer

I'm getting Mail and whispers about transferring servers. I personally only think that server transfers benefit those who are playing GW2 for the WvW. That's the only part of the game that you are restricted from when it comes to server so I would understand the unhappiness with CD when it comes to the current state of WvW. I am not the only voice of Stonewall and we listen to all our members so I am creating this post for everyone to share their thoughts and the server of their choice if they want to transfer. I am also including a poll to see where we stand.

hmmm I accidentally voted NO and can't seem to change my vote to YES. I take no responsibility for my actions at 4AM! At any rate, I'll try to share my thoughts later.

A quick note on the cost of transfer. Transfer once every seven days at a cost determined by the destination server.

Tournament pricing (March 28-May 30, 2014) Region World Rating* Transfer Cost (gems)

NA 13-15, and 22-24: 1000 Gem.png
NA 4-6, 10-12, and 19-21: 1400 Gem.png
NA 1-3, 7-9, and 16-18: 2400 Gem.png

Prices will be based on rankings at the start of the tournament, March 28.

I don't World vs World any where near as much as I should (because I love it but often don't want to commit to the time sink) so It's probably a little unfair for me to make the argument one way or another when some of our membership spend most of the time in The Mists however I did vote no.

I think one of the problems with the unbalanced nature of World vs World was the free-movement which we used to enjoy in the early days. Everyone jumped ships to the most popular and successful servers leaving some servers ghosts towns.

We are a mid-table server and being there can be very disheartening because we'll probably never be able to challenge the top boys but if we do move we are contributing to the eventual demise of our first home.

That said I can't ignore the benefits to the "fun" factor moving would have on our membership and totally understand peoples desire to do so.

I will move if the guild decides it so.

I wanted to vote "no" but I've voted "yes" to counter-act your mistake. Let me know if you found a way to change your vote so that I didn't screw it unfairly. :)

I really enjoy WvW when I play it. The only thing that does put me off is how often CD is out numbered. There's nothing worse than being 1 of only 15 people from our server when the others have almost 30 each.

Some thoughts:

So if the guild moves for the few WvW individuals will they fund the transfer for the guild members? A transfer at $20 or more doesn't guarantee that the server transferred to will be any better. And then the whole factor of which server.

Re: Server Transfer

Important question to leader and all members: "The ones who want to transfer to another server, are they 100 percent representing the guild since day one?" I notice there are players who wants to be in the guild but don't represent the guild at all time which really should not have anything to say or suggest about the transfer. I represent the guild 100 percent everytime I log on and I think players' opinion like myself should be above other who do not represent the guild or contribute to the guild achievement.
If leader decided to move, who will fund the transfer for the guild and members? Keep in mind what server ranking fluctuates and if we did transfer to another server, will move again if we feel the same as of this time again? Tranfers will never stop when we are unhappy?
Kome transfered because of "drama" with another guild. What is our true reason for the transfer? Achievements are all the same for all servers and it has nothing to do with the server ranking. Thank you.

Re: Server Transfer

It's already a very small percentage of our members that frequent the website and a smaller number that actively take part.

It's a pretty safe bet that anybody who see's this thread and takes the time to post or contribute to it is a dedicated member of the guild. In any case it would be hard to make a fair system that actively took into account our members contributions over the years, as much as we'd like to.

I've not discussed this with Elquin so am just speaking of my past experience and he may decide to do things differently but normally when a guild decides to switch servers the guild doesn't fund the move. All those members that want to move pay for it themselves and those that don't look for another guild.

In Guild Wars 2 it's a little easier because you can still be part of the guild and have access to the guild chat and banks etc and if we are run a PvE event you can simply "guest" to our server for the duration of the event free of charge.

The only issue comes with WvW (which is the main point of the argument) in which you'd still have to fight for CD and wouldn't be able to join the official Vanguard events. So if you're not in a position to pay for a transfer but still want to WvW with the guild than a "no" vote is the right one.

These are very important issues and having an open discussion is a good thing.

Just to clear up any misconceptions:

Stonewall Vanguard has no home world requirement. Members may choose any home world they please. In fact, I've noticed members on European servers and GW2 doesn't support cross-region play beyond in-game mail, chat, trading post, etc.

Edit: Stonewall Vanguard has one guild representation requirement: Members must represent the guild while participating in guild events.

GW2 does not link guilds to a home world. Guild membership is shared across worlds. However, guild progression is not shared: guild currency (influence, merits) and guild upgrades (bonuses, bank vaults, mission unlocks).

Home-world transfers are purchased on a per-account basis with in-game gems. Costs vary depending on time of year and the population of the destination server. As an example, the regular, non-tournament pricing is as follows, using the conversion rates as of this writing:
Medium - 500 gems = 31.8 gold / $6.25 / €6.25 / £5.3125
High - 1000 gems = 63.6 gold / $12.50 / €12.50 / £10.625
Very High - 1800 gems = 114.48 gold / $22.50 / €22.50 / £19.125

Re: Server Transfer

Please note the prices for transfers currently are:

Tournament pricing (March 28-May 30)
Region - World Rating - Transfer Cost (gems)
NA - 13-15, and 22-24 - 1000
EU - 7-9, 16-18, and 25-27 - 1000
NA - 4-6, 10-12, and 19-21 - 1400
EU - 4-6, 13-15, and 22-24 - 1400
NA - 1-3, 7-9, and 16-18 - 2400
EU - 1-3, 10-12, 19-21 - 2400

As a part of these changes, we will also implement new restrictions to WvW access after transferring worlds. These restrictions will go into effect on March 28. After that date, anyone who transfers worlds will be able to play only in the Edge of the Mists WvW map for the duration of their current and subsequent matchup. If you transfer worlds on a Tuesday, you won’t be able to enter the Borderlands or Eternal Battleground maps until the Friday of the following week. You will still be able to play in Edge of the Mists and progress the tournament meta achievement, but you will not be able to contribute to the score of your WvW matchup.

I don't do WvW very much, and would not really want to transfer servers. However, I will stick with the guild and what is ultimately decided.

Re: Server Transfer

I'm very conflicted about this, because i'm spending a fair amount of time in WvW.

WvW is certainly depressing these days, and i can't wait until we're not matched against HoD anymore, but against smaller servers, which we're closer to in terms of population. All i hope is that we're not stuck at the bottom of Silver League for the next 9 weeks...

I don't feel i have much loyalties to CD as a server, but i would stick with SWVG if i chose to transfer. I'm nowhere close to having the necessary funds anyway (and i'm somewhat reluctant to spend real money for that).

I've not been online as much lately thanks to a lot of real world stuff, but I typically spend most of my time in WvW when I do play and have found the entire situation discouraging for a while now. So I've voted yes...although it's with mixed feelings having been on CD from the start.

So my two cents. Hopefully I'll be spending more time back in game soon.

I hardly ever go anywhere in WvW besides EotM these days, it's just too painful with CD's matchups :/

Not an expert on other servers but I've heard good things about Yak's Bend, Isle of Janthir has some solid WvW guilds. And I guess can't go wrong with Fort Aspenwood, just throwing things out there tho.

Guild Transfer:
The guild will start with no upgrades and no influence. The guild will lose any progress it made on when transferring to a new server.

When you move, you will lose access to all your guild improvements on your original world (unless you move back). This includes any guild vault and all of its contents. Accordingly, if you have any items stored in a group or personal guild vault, be sure to move them to one of your existing characters and/or your personal bank before transferring.
