STO Add-on: Legacy of Romulus (May 2013)

As the resident design geek, can I say how much I LOVE the less noisy GUI?

YES YES FLAT PLEASE YES

Cryptic kept their promise. They said they would not be releasing a Romulan faction until the KDF was fully threshed out and here it is. So few games keep their promises to their players like this so I am very grateful to Cryptic for doing this.

I wonder who the new "silent enemy is?" I think the title of the expansion gives it away. "The Legacy of Romulus." It has to be a race that the Imperial Romulans wronged. Since there are quite a few characters, ships and other literary cannon references peppered throughout the game like the Vesta, Luna, Anichent on memory alpha ect.. My bet it that this race is in fact the Watraii:

This is why I haven't really been doing anything in game because I'm going full Romulan in may and I don't really feel like playing Captains that won't get much air time post May...God I wish I could have all the Zen/CP I spent on Fed and Klinon shit back LOL

So I haven't seen any new content....did I miss something somewhere?

The countdown was only for the announcement and not the content itself. That will come in late may.

Lol, Remember the Raptor Logo on the teaser site always said "May 2013?" Can't say they didn't warn you. I had hoped for some sort of in-game event too though. Like the Borg Invasion events across all sectors prior to the release of the Defera Invasion ground zone but eh. May isn't that far off after all, I can wait, but only just barely.

I also just though of something; wouldn't it be super awesome if the KDF story line finally focuses a bit more on the other races in the KDF like the Gorn, Nausicans, Orions, Letheans and Ferasans? Kind of how the Fed side has the Romulan front, the Klingon front, the Cardassian front and the Borg front chapters? That would be really cool!

Q: (korithian1) The recent teaser-trailer suggests that there will be Romulans added to the game soon. If this is so, has this given the team a good insight into what it takes to add additional factions to the game and will we see any more such as the Cardassians or Borg?

Dstahl: We have always had a plan for how we wanted to implement additional factions and we have polls dating back to early in the game’s life when we were looking to see which future factions players were most interested in. If and when we release a Romulan faction, you can expect that it would set the stage for how a Cardassian, Borg, or any other faction would be introduced into the game.


What that means to me is they used the Romulan faction as a modular (plug and play) base in order to easily (easier?) create new factions such as Cardassian and Borg. So, I would expect in the coming months we will see more factions being rolled out.

You know, we had been assuming that KDF will be finished, since it says you can start at Level 1. but I'm thinking this may only be true if you're a Romulan/Reman playing in the KDF at Level 1.

But now that I re-read it, that interpretation doesn't make any sense.

I guess we'll know everything in a couple of months.

I'm kinda curious to see whether there will be any female Remans. Maybe just even so I know what female Remans look like. :) I hope they don't repeat the male-only BS they pulled with some of the KDF races.

I also still hate that there are no female Cardassians among the True Way troops. I'm not even sure there are any female Cardassians in-game? Stupid.

IMO that would be a double facepalm, not showing female Remans that is.

There's at least one female Cardassian, a tailor at K7 or Sierra, I forget which.
