[Poll] Should we change the Fleet Uniform?

Quite simple--any submission that contains uniform parts that cannot be used by all players must be disqualified before the ballot is put to a vote. That wasn't done with the KDF contest and that's what caused the issues.

when i see people around in game, it is always nice to see a standard look for a person. it helps establish an identity for the fleet they are a part of and shows their inclusion in it. but i can also understand the need for people to customize and create their own uniforms too. we might be better served to have a standard uniform for each class, but make pieces of it customizable. i.e. if we were to leave the engineer fed side as is as an example, we could require it to be like it is today but give people the option to use whatever belt or patches they see fit. the overall look would still be there, colors and all, but the little bit of customization lets people be more free spirited.

just an idea. i like the uniforms as they are, but would welcome the ability to customize it a little more without it being a non-fleet uniform.

I like my white uniform, it's dashing! :P

Whatever the new uniform may look like, I want a B'Elanna Torres engineering coat option for when I need to hide a multitude of sins. Some days I just feel bloated. :ohmy:

This time around, I'll be checking each and every submission to be sure this doesn't happen again.

What I would like to consider is to have optional fleet uniform variants. The variants could include locked parts, for example, we could have an official stonewall fleet academy color scheme for the academy uniform, or the racing uniform, or the vet stuff, or maco/honor guard/omega, etc.

This way, the fleet dress formal (class A) would be available to all, as well a class B duty uniform, both used with free costumes, and we could then vote on the official variants for those who have the unlocks and wish to submit.

Agreed an class a, b and maybe c. The military dose it, we can do it.

I don't think that would be possible to do in-game with the current restrictions, but I suppose it's not a bad idea in general. We'd still need to pick an official in-game version, though.

There's no reason why we can't include the current uniform in the contest, in case certain voters don't like the new options. And of course you can always save it at the tailor... maybe we can throw them on for "retro uniform day" at our bigger fleet events.

I happen to like the current uniform, but certainly understand the drive for a redesign. On the balance, I'm pretty neutral, all things considered.

At the very least, may I make a suggestion:

In addition to the three basic variants for fleet members (Sci, Tac, Eng), may I suggest an Admiralty variant for members of the fleet leadership? Something with a gold accent or somesuch, in addition to division color?

Think of the c. 2379 Starfleet Dress Uniform, as seen at the Riker-Troi nuptials, where division colors are part of the uniform, but Picard's variant minimizes the division color.

We've discussed this in the past and usually settle on not doing so. We don't want to separate or elevate the leadership too high over the general membership.

When the proposed new uniforms are put out for vote I think the old one's should be included too, this way people will be able to contrast and compare, and if they don't like any of the new one's they can vote on the current set(?)
