[Poll] Should we change the Fleet Uniform?

It's a well established part of Trek canon that the uniform changes over time -- even several times over the span of a few years. Granted, it has almost always been due to out-of-character reasons, such as Patrick Stewart's back hurting from the unitard pulling down on his spine or the whims of the next wardrobe designer who wanted to put his or her own mark in the series.

But change they did, and so dramatically at times that the new uniforms looked like they came from another show. Truth be told, that always bugged me. But it's an inescapable part of Trek. :)

I fully support a change... nothing better than entering Spring with new threads!

Also remember there were times where there were 2 (sometimes more) uniform in service at the same time (TNG - DS9) (I don't count DS9-VOY because Voyager was stuck in the Delta quadrant and I'll assume they didn't get the memo and there were other more pressing messages for Starfleet to pass on than a simple uniform change) So with that in mind why can't we have more than 1 set of working uniforms

Well, we can't have more than one 'official' uniform set because the game only allows one set. :P

Plus, there's also no winter or summer in space, which is where the whole color coordination of 'no white after Labor Day' comes from.

Valid point, but there's no real winter in southern Cal and the rule technically still applies, unless your Coco Chenel. it was also a part joke. Lol I'm to bring people to the light my friend join us.

I'd be happy with a compromise maybe a work uni and the classic formal

I voted No. Mainly because when we did this for the KDF side many of them did not listen to the restriction on NOT using unlockable uniform parts. Plus, it's a formal Uniform and the white looks crisp, clean, and naval. However, since it looks like we're going to get a new one, I hope we get one that reflects the proud traditions of Starfleet.

I voted No but then my vote is worth nothing as I much prefer my Veteran jupiter uniform anyhow and never wear fleet per se. Of course I think I still follow the colour scheme.

I voted "Yes."

Currently, the engineering fleet uniform uses C4 & C11 on a white base. Try simply changing that to C24 & C11. It makes a huge difference without altering the basic fleet uniform. If it's that easy, just imagine what else people can come up with when given the opportunity.

I do however wonder if "designers" will have to submit 3 looks, one for each class/color combo....

When designing, we must bear in mind the ways that costuming is broken (yes, it is broken on the Fed side, too.) I would assume that we would want to include the fleet patch on the fleet uniform. However, on some of the uniform designs, the patch is available for female characters but not for male characters. For other designs, the patch placement for the male is much further down the sleeve than it is for the female, where it is placed properly.

The only universally owned uniform tops that do not contain either of these errors are:
Antares 1
Antares 3
Antares 5
Sierra 1
Sierra 2
Sierra 3
The Next Generation - Film

It would behoove designers submitting an entry to use only these seven uniform tops.

One more thing to bear in mind (which is not a bug) is that females have boot options that are not available to males.
