So how do you trade gear/money between factions?

I don't believe you can. The walls they have around each faction are pretty thick.

There better be some way, to get HK-51 you need a part from the other factions capitol world. You need a part from the sith temple on dromund kaas and another part from the jedi temple on coruscant.

The Legacy system allows you to mail non-bound items or credits between any toon on your account regardless of faction. You can't do that with any toon NOT on your account, however. Legacy is enabled after you complete Chapter 1 on your 1st toon. The Legacy system entered the game during update 1.2 about 8 months ago. :)

It was rumored for quite a while that you would need an opposite faction legacy toon in order to obtain the assassin droid HK-51. I don't think they've specified the level that toon has to be but the rumor was saying around level 25-30 and the toon trying to unlock HK-51 would have to be level 50. ;)

On swtor spy they say the parts are on the capital planets. One from each.

That's where the legacy toon on your account will come into play. The opposite faction toon will have to obtain that part for you and then mail it to you. If the toon trying to unlock HK-51 is Republic then a legacy Imperial toon will be needed to obtain the part from the Imperial Temple and vice-versa. A Republic legacy toon will need to get the part from the Jedi temple on Coruscant for an Imperial toon. :) Your friends won't be able to help you with this because they are not a part of your legacy and can't mail anything to your opposite faction toon.
