SWTOR Help

October 06 2012
Ok, me and my bf recently decided to download the trial (levels 1-15) to try it out. I think is awesome and we have now decided to buy the game, and go F2P. But we have a few questions. When and where do you find the C-Store?? (I assume thats whats it is called as the money is called Cartel) Also, can we change from need or greed?? And i myself have a perticular problom that when im fighting, i will almost always target my teammate which is really annoying. Can i stop that??

Thanks bunches

I think the C-store will be available when the game goes free to play, but idk where it may go. You can jump between need and greed anytime, though I seem to have better luck with need when I actually do need an item. As for when you end up targeting your teammate, idk if its a bug or bad clicking :S, so just hit tab to select an enemy? I believe its tab anyway.

First off, I sincerely apologize for the lateness of my reply. I had to go out of town unexpectedly over the weekend and missed your initial posting so it didn't show as a new post on my return.

The only time that's been mentioned for when F2P goes live is November. No actual dates have ever been listed. There is a difference in the free to play to level 15 and the actual F2P for the entire game. The free to play to level 15 has been available for awhile as a trial version of the game. Once you hit level 15 on any character you roll that's it for that character, you are expected to subscribe if you want to continue playing. The entire game is supposedly going F2P sometime in November and whatever "store" that will be associated with it will appear then as well. There hasn't been any further details about what's going to happen then at all so I can't be any more detailed about it (much as I'd like to  ).

As far as your targeting goes, that's just something you will have to resolve on your own because you are the one actually "clicking" on something to "target" it. In preferences, there is a choice you can enable to have the game target the nearest enemy but that's all the help you can get in this regard. Odioshi is correct, you can use the "tab key" to target an enemy mob but it doesn't always target the one you may have wanted to go after at that particular point in time. It will, however, NOT target your teammate as you know you can easily do if you are click targeting on your own. As far as need or greed, anytime a choice like that comes up you have the option of selecting whichever would work best for you. As Odioshi stated, if you actually NEED the item select need. Don't, however, go selecting need for everything that comes up, because that's totally unfair to your teammates and will get you accused of ninja looting (and reported for same occasionally depending on whom you've pissed off for doing it) More than one person can roll need for the same item and then it becomes a contest between the roll numbers of each player that has selected need. Unfortunately, not everyone acts morally when this situation arises. This has been an ongoing problem in any game that uses this mechanic. Some game developers have attempted to control the outcomes of these rolls but not all are successful. In WOW, for example, it became such a problem that they changed it so that anytime someone rolls need for an item it immediately becomes soulbound so that it can't then be sold at exorbitant prices through the auction house. Before this change was made, anytime you ran a pug dungeon you risked being teammates with someone who rolled need for EVERYTHING even when their character obviously couldn't use the item. SWTOR is still doing it the old way so you may occasionally run into someone that does this.

Again, no actual date (or new and different details) has been posted about when F2P is going live. If you can afford it, I would seriously recommend subscribing because there are all sorts of possibly frustrating restrictions you will be faced with if you go with the F2P model. Probably the biggest being flashpoints and operations (group instances). You will be restricted to doing flashpoints to once per week (and there are a LOT of them so you'll really be missing out on grouping with friends) and you won't be able to do any operations at all. There are also supposed to be some character creation limitations and those that use the F2P model won't get as many of the Cartel coins or points as subscribers. If you access the SWTOR website you may find some information that explains things better than I am able to. The linked webpage has a lot of things to click on and read that might just put it all in perspective for you and help you with your decision. :)
