Official Guild Emblem Contest

Event Type: Guild Emblem Contest
Start date/time: Saturday, August 25
Finish date/time: Wednesday, September 12 (extended due to technical issues with the site)


The contest is now open to design the offical emblem for Stonewall Vanguard!

To enter, talk to a guild registrar in one of the major cities and select "I want to edit my guild's emblem." Once you have designed your entry, take a screenshot of it and post it as a reply to this thread. This contest is open to all members of Stonewall Vanguard.

Please do not vote in this thread, it is only for submitting entries into the contest. After the finish contest date, we will begin voting. Also, you may submit a design that you have previously created. However, only entries posted in this thread will be considered during voting.

Also, you may include the reasoning/idea behind the elements of your entry. I've included the locations of the guild registars. Please note that at the time of this posting, the guild registrar in Rata Sum does not give the option to edit the emblem. The nearest registrar that I found was in Lion's Arch. The Asura gate for Lion's Arch in Rata Sum is on the main (top) level at the northen point.


Divinity's Reach (Human) - Arnaud, west side at the north end of Dwayna High Road

Hoelbrak (Norn) - Svein in the Might and Main area

Rata Sum (Asura) - Loppa, second (lower) level near southwest point

Black Citadel (Charr) - Dorul within Imperator's Core

The Grove (Sylvari) - "Guild Registrar" located in the eastern most part of the city

Lion's Arch - Cyri located in the north east area of the Trader's Forum

I think this is classic gay symbolism, and it should fit the guild well, here's some links for explanation.

Also, the other shapes in side the main triangle could stand for Gays, Lesbians, Bisexual, Transgender, & Allies.

Description:

"It represent the gay part of the guild (like you probably guessed). I looked at the emblems and options: I dont really think (except the fist+arrow) that any match the whole "GLBT" part. At least this emblem represent (1/4 of the guild, its better than 0/4 heh..)

Also I think this emblem clearly show the meaning of it even to someone who never heard of the guild but see this emblem.

and finally: I find that this emblem add a bit of humor."

This is my attempt at an emblem. I honestly just chose elements and colours that appealed to me and that might look good on a banner.

The Phoenix has been a symbol of transformation and perseverance for millenia. The fire of our predecessors burns in us today and even though we may not share blood (smear in the background) we're still family.

(Here is my design using the out-of-game emblem creator thing as well.)

I think it's appropriate and critically important to have an emblem that does not say this is a man's symbol anymore than it should be too feminine...but shares an equality across the board with symbols and colors that speak to the diverse-richness that is Stonewall.

The military style background I'm proud of because...women are now serving in the military in many countries in the capacity - they rightfully deserved from the get-go. This maroon colored, military stripe shows strength and power...but can now represent both genders...and still blanket others as well.

The wings: I see as representing angels of all genders....human angels precisely...letting their experiences and hearts take flight on wings to educate and promote tolerance of others...all over the world.

The Sun: speaks to our 'Desert" home....bright as it can be...but not blinding.

and finally....I like the "balance" of colors. ;)

the editor seemed buggy in game, I couldn't design the emblem alone, so here is it on a banner, cropped and resized (hope it edited ok!)

The heart background for, well heart and kinship! The phoenix rising symbolizes adversity and resilience. I like the color combination, it seems to well balance and highlight the back/foreground. The colors represent spirit, life, healing/sunshine (depending on how you interpret the shades, hehe)

I guess with whats happened to the website you should give it 1 or 2 more weeks.

I also used the pink triangle concept in a different form. (the background, which also makes it look less pink!) I also figured that the design I chose for the background would feel almost army-like and unifying.
I chose the Guardian symbol obviously because of protection, all kinds are safe behind the Stonewall Vanguard. The red in the middle is supposed to signify love, while being less obvious than a heart, it's still the center of our group as we're a family ^^.

I am looking forward to making an entry (hopefully I can figure out how to upload a picture without completely embarrassing myself...

They have added several emblems since the BWEs. It's even harder now to choose. I've created several today that i like. I assume that i can only enter one emblem.

I think that the guild emblem should stand for 'strength in diversity'. I've always had a fondness for the yin-yang symbol because it explains in such a simple way how opposites can't exist without each other because they are like two sides of a coin. Arenanet have done a splendid job of translating the classic yin-yang symbol to kryta.
