We will know more this weekend for sure- if the servers cap -then reddit followers cant join either so it's going to be a shared issue.

I'm still no clear on what to do if CD is full. Just pick Ferguson's Crossing instead? :\ Anyway, since server transfers are free for the first week I will probably just get in where I can and move when I can.

Fergusons Crossing was selected as the backup server in the event you cannot roll on CD. The guild will have to have a rank there that can manage server based tasks like influence.

so is CD still going to be the guild server and GLBT server because of this?

During the last stress test I checked and could see at least a half-dozen + players are already on CD...many of us not and I was one of them.

I take it that everything is going to be wiped down to ground zero, including previous server selections and it will be a race for all of us to get on CD? (I'm assuming this is the case.)

I'm not quite up to speed where Reddit is concerned...again I'm assuming it's their size that becomes and issue for us... and it's not political issues with them?

Just a quick thought...how about making a fast poll for emergency votes to see how many have head-start access and how many will have to wait until the actual release date to select a server...with a third choice on the poll for "later than that."

If this could be done quickly enough some valuable numbers float to the surface which would give a more accurate assessment of how to proceed with main and backup servers and who might end up going where. Luck is going to play an important roll in this no doubt but a poll like that can make it easier to see who may get left out of CD and how best to cover them.

It's about 24 hours to launch, and it's never good to change horses in mid-stream. We'll just have to monitor the server caps, like Kerstov said.
yeah thats was I was thinking too and some members wont see the new so they roll on CD anyways. I know I would be annoyed if i didnt see the "we decided to change our home server..." new and rolled on CD then have to pay gems to switch.

There was a 1hour stress test today, everything was already wiped. Gems you had (if you had any),gold, characters and you had to select a home server again today.

They're doing another wipe after this stress test now. (from thursday one, I know because they said it on twitter).

and yes, I think its gonna be a race to select your home server, then reserve your character names. I guess if you're logging at the headstart launch you should be good.

While this may be an issue at first, I am sure they will unlock the servers as things settle down. They may initially, for the first month or so, lock the server if it's full, but the player base trickles off fast after the first couple months. It might just be a rough month. :(

Sorry, but I'm going to have to roll somewhere else.

Reddit is the worst community I have ever interacted with. The amount of blatant and casual racism, homophobia, and misogyny that goes unmoderated on reddit has completely turned me off.

I'd still like to join the guild so that we can play together when guesting is released though.

i've just seen this too many times before a games release where something spooks the guild and you inevitably have a split and people start leaving. and i'd hate to see that play out here.

So I think that everyone needs to take a deep breath, and calm down.

1: the server cap probably isn't going to be THAT much of an issue.

2: if it is, transfers are free for the first couple weeks or so, so we can always make the decision to move AFTER release.

3: we're going to face an equal amount of ignorance, misogyny, and blatant trolling wherever we decide to stay, it's a given. You don't back down from things like that, you don't run. you stand your ground and you educate. you take it on yourself to try to open someone's eyes, and you recognize the lost causes and let sleeping dogs lie.

Question: Isn't that link you posted only referring to one Reddit based guild rolling on Crystal Desert, not the entire Reddit community?

According to the primary GW2 page on Reddit (Here), it looks like the primary NA Reddit server is Isles of Janthir. Additionally, out of the 7 Reddit based guilds in NA, only two have picked Crystal Desert as their home server.

It's very possible that I may be overlooking something, but to me it seems like there are only 2 Reddit guilds rolling on CD, not the entire Reddit community. The overall Reddit community is apparently being directed to Isles of Janthir, with Gate of Madness as the backup. Overall, I don't see a significant cause for concern in two Reddit guilds being based on our server.

and, to light this up a bit, i perused through said guild's forums, and i say a pretty tame decorum. from what i saw, they're only there to join up with a good WvW alliance, i didn't see which one, but maybe it'd be synergy alliance? if so...gayme on is also a member of synergy, so i really don't see an issue with this YET, other than the server cap woes, which i don't think will be as much of an issue as people are saying. if so, i believe that arenanet would have given us some insight into it by now, as it seems they're staying on top of community concerns fairly well.

I was a redditor for years until it just got too bad.

They will say they won't allow trolling but to them that doesn't include racism, homophobia, etc.

Remember that gw2guru post about a LGBT friendly server and how everyone didn't understand why we would want to "segregate ourselves?" That is reddit's view on that kind of thing. They don't even understand why we like parades.

It is a huge site and of course this isn't how every redditor thinks, the issues they don't discourage that kind of thinking.

Yes, but I get to decide when and where to do that, and online is one place I've opted not to do it. It's rarely effective at doing anything other than giving me a headache and the other person one more notch on their flamethrower. If you've had better experiences, I'm glad, but I choose not to do my educating where people are as often as not willfully hateful and ignorant. I won't be forced into ruining my fun-time on a computer game. :\ As likely as not, I will have local chats turned off and just be in the guild channel specifically to avoid any crap from ignoranmuses so my only concern would be the server cap.
