Plans for headstart

Hey guys! I was reading up on Gw2Guru today and saw this great big post pertaining to preparations for the night (or morning) of head start. It really got me thinking, and I also wanted to know what everyone else was planning!

Here's my plan:

Preparation includes:
-Buying a giant bag of pistachios
-filling my Camelbak with ice cold water
-finding ways to stay awake without using any kind of drug (caffeine,etc.) (check)
-check patch client every day until head start
-buy healthy snacks that will actually provide me with energy instead of..well..not providing me energy

Plans:
-sleep in until 12p.m. EST
-go to the gym (because i'll feel better about what i'm about to do...)
-come home, maybe read a book,etc.
-get ready at the computer around 10 p.m. EST
-launch GW2 client
-play happy wheels x.x
-get on ventrilo 11p.m. EST
-12p.m-3p.m. spam login button
-create 5 characters quickly to save names
-PvE until 5-7a.m.
-sleep for about 5 hours
-GW2!!!

So i just wanted to know what you guys are going to plan, because honestly it is just such an exciting topic for me to discuss! Will there be any marathoners here? (if so, i might join ya!)

Oh shoot! I completely forgot about bio breaks. That means looking away from guild wars 2...darn

Halish was on vent earlier and had a great idea. We take shifts spamming the login button - 1 person per hour while the rest of us sleep with our headsets on! lol And when you can finally login you can speak and wake everyone up :woohoo:

So vent party starts at 11:00pm EST?

I like that idea kerstov! The only thing is there is no way I'd be able to sleep when I'm so close to playing..And I'm in for 11 pm!

Grrr... Have to work on that Saturday, so:

Go to bed night before, wishing I could stay up but knowing I have to sleep for work
Get up at 4 am, even though I didn't sleep well for thinking about GW2
Go to work
Think about GW2
Get home at 5(ish) pm
Patch Game (even though I patched the night before)
Log In
Hope to get on Crystal Desert
Hope the name(s) I want are available
Not move from my chair for the next 12(ish) hours (or until I fall over asleep)

Well, Caeric, if you are super concerned about names, if you hop on around 3am and just skip through the character creation and snag the name you want, when you delete that character, the name is unavailable to anybody else for 24 hours! Just food for thought!

Thanks for that reminder. I'm actually thinking about either sleeping some the afternoon before so I can get up for a little while around midnight to start it up, or trying to either take the day off or get off early. We'll see.

Mmmm cold pizza for breakfast yum

My plan is to try to fall asleep by 8pm tonight, so that I can wake up at 1am and start spamming the servers. Hopefully they will come up sooner, rather than later... After grabbing the names I want, I plan to go back to bed for a few hours.

Of course, that Xmas morning feeling might be too much for me, in which case I will stay up all night playing and crash midday :whistle:

I have the xmas morning feeling - thus the earlier post at 3 am.. couldn't sleep. But that might be a good thing because I'll take a nice old man nap on the couch later today.

I bought a new chair with lumbar support at Ikea which should last me through headstart weekend before falling apart (yeah i threw in an Ikea quality jab..)

Meanwhile I bought my groceries for three days of gayming - almonds, Kashi bars, and various fruit and veggies. Although I do have a Camelback I'm gonna go traditional and use a cup :/

With all the healthy snacking - I have no guilt eating the pizza :) And cheese + ham + pineapple = delishus

Well, I'm currently at work, so.. I'll work til I'm done for the day.
Get groceries for the weekend
I have plans to majorly clean my apartment before launch tonight, so I'll do that
Hit the gym (since I won't be getting to that this weekend)
I'll sign on to the Ventrillo thing at 10pm
Wait til log in and save a few character names
Make my main character
Probably mess around for a bit, but then I'm heading to bed, lol
I plan to wake up again at like 8am to play more

I also have my evening planned, and it has ensured that today will be the longest workday EVER!!

Curse the MTA for being the slowest, most terrible transit system in America

Swing by the local market to pick up food, snacks, and energy drinks by the case

Meet my cocaine dealer behind the market for a quick supplemental eight-ball

Realize I don't actually do illicit drugs and casually laugh at this terrible joke

5:55pm
Get home, put away groceries, shower, and plop into bed

11:15pm
Wake up from my power-nap, groggily log on Vent, update the GW2 client, and start clicking the log-in button

12:00am
Profusely apologize (again) to everyone in Vent for being so jacked up on Monster and adrenaline

12am to 3am
Log in, secure three to five names I've been bandying around in my head for the past week, and delete and remake my main

3am - ??
PLAY GUILD WARS 2!!! until I literally pass out unconscious sometime tomorrow, probably drooling on my desk in the process


I think it's a solid itinerary.

Realizing that I'm probably not going to do anything even remotely productive and barely anything substantially life-sustaining over the weekend, my plan is as follows for survivability:

1. 5:00ish - Run to the grocery store and buy a ton of veggies and snacks
2. 6:00 - Cook a gargantuan pot of either vegetable stew or vegan chili (I'm still debating which one) and a massive vat of hummus to snack on with pita - all enough to hold me over for a couple days
3. 7:30 - Get laundry done for the week b’cos that's the farthest thing from my mind the rest of the w/e
4. 8:30 – Starbucks run!
5. 9:00 - Surf the web on various GW2 sites while sipping on some coffee, all the meanwhile dreaming of when they turn the servers on.
6. 11:00 - Log onto vent, join the party and the spam-login fest!
7. Login 'till whenever, get characters/names situated, get key binds and gaming mouse situated, and play until I drop from sheer exhaustion.
8. Rinse, and repeat #6 & #7 (sans bind, mouse, character steps) through Sunday with maybe the occasional 15 minute break here and there for only essential non-game stuff.

You all are soooo right - it does feel like Christmas. I can almost hear the jingle bells right now outside the window!
