Re: Ship Names
I take this VERY seriously... my first toon had a different name for each progressive ship. That became a bit cumbersome over time (given how many ships he now has), but they almost all conform to my naming convention:
a.) Adjectives ending in -ous or -ess (Righteous, Courageous, Valorous, Sagacious, Fearless, etc.)
b.) relevant to the toon and career (Astris; latin for 'star;' Renegade, Pioneer, etc)
I've not used letters yet to be honest. I always thought it strange that the Enterprise was really the only proven example of this seen, despite the fairly consistent reuse of historical names by Starfleet (almost every original Connie saw life later on in newer classes; no letters though).
I'm a canon freak, so you won't find me naming ships lightly or outside of the norms. Nothing worse than seeing someone flying around in a ship with a hot mess name. It ruins the entire effect of the ship, and the person flying it.
