Beta Weekend Event client is available

I'm not sure if everyone else received their email yet, but the GW2 forums are functional (even for people with @ncsoft/@plaync user names) and there is a link to download the client.

Head over to https://forum-en.guildwars2.com/forum/info/news and click on "Getting Started" for more info and the direct link to the client, if you have yet to receive your email.

Looking forward to seeing you in-game this weekend!

Downloading the client as we speak :)

As I'm European I'm really hoping we have the ability to choose which side of the pond we connect too (I'm sure I saw ArenaNet confirm this for launch but not beta). Otherwise I may be stuck on one of the EU servers -sulks-

As for which US server we should call home, I'm not sure. Any of them sound appealing to you guys?

I'm going to selfishly put up Sorrow's Furnace for a US server as my vote, since a bunch of my RL friends and GW1 guildmates/alliancemates will be rolling there :).

just something to keep in mind... for the BWE you can "transfer" your home server once, but the ability to play across servers won't be available..

by time the game is live you'll be able to play PvE across servers, but WvW only on your "home" server... also I don't think the guild gets the influence while you are playing on another server...

Does that mean we better agree on a server before creating the first toon? They recommend it here.

I believe they are giving us enough credits (or whatever the currency is) to afford one move during the beta weekend if we make a mistake but it's probably best to get it right straight away.

The GBLT guilds (us included) will be starting on the Eternal Grove server.

Just FYI, game installs in whatever directory you ran the gw2.exe file. So if you ran it from your browser download folder, the GW2 game file is there too.

Seems like the game is just 3 files all together--gw2.exe, gw2.dat, and gw2.tmp.

You can move them, just make sure you move them together.

Hopefully that will save someone the 10 minutes of sanity-doubting, like I went through because I didn't read the directions :p
