Guild Banks how we gonna do this?

April 15 2012
I am sure there is an officer in charge of this.....

But since the 1.2 patch I have seen many folks asking about this. I know the biggest priority will be setting limits and rank based withdrawals, but pretty much I havent heard a peep on whose in charge and their plans, and I looked for a thread and the banks are going to be a super beneficial thing for folks wanting to give away many things to their fellow guildies. Ensuring their is no abuse will help contributions, but in that same breath we cannot have a bunch of level 9 green things in there.

I know that each tabbed area cost xxxxx amount of credits ... and reasonabably in order for us to have a bank we need to pool our funds and actually get one .. but whos in charge? how we doing it? can we really send money to fredXXX lol? We need an official statement for each side for this.

I also know that as the number of tabs grow, the funds required to get a new one will also grow. From other games with similar implementations I also know that SOMEONE HAS TO CLEAN THE HOUSE ALICE! and each bank tab will need to have limitations and specifications as to what should be shared with your guildies .. this can be a fiasco as one man's junk is another treasure but I think a clear policy and expectation should be set .. and I strongly feel this should be mirrored tween KOS and LOS so a person, no matter what alignment, understands it without having to refer to contradictory information.

Anyway more Lace ramblings and suggestions .. dont hit me ... I might ask you out!

First let me apologize. I haven't been very active the last couple of months. I've been in school, recently started a new job and have been sick.

At any rate, the issue of SWTOR guild banks was suppose to be my responsibility (according to Zep).I tried to do research on them when they hit the public test server so that we would have some information to go on. The discussion about actually management of the banks was put on hold for several different reasons. Part of those reasons were the possibility that Bioware could change their actual implementation when they made them go live. However, it looks like they've been implemented pretty much the way that they were on the test server.

Now that we know for sure, we need to decide on the guidelines for guild bank usage. Like you said, we don't want a bunch of junk clogging up the system, but we also don't want a new level 9 to the guild cleaning it out either. This is one reason that the guild leaders were so adamant about members having their site name in the guild roster ingame so that we can get people set to the right rank so they can have access to stuff.

The next major issue is what restrictions to place on item deposits. There will be discussion about this, but ideally important items that are harder to come by that are useful for players should be given first priority. But again, there will be a discussion to hammer out the details on this.

As far as housekeeping goes, I suspect that will still be my responsibly. Now that I think I'm finally getting over being sick (a nasty virus that just didn't want to turn loose), I should be better able to be active and stay on top of things.

Zep will have to buy the first tab on both sides (since he's the guild leader)

It does seem that Bioware would have implemented a better process of being able to donate for a guild tab, but once we have the first tab, you can deposit directly into the guild bank.

Hey Zep, let us know when you are ready to buy the first tabs on each side so I can send you credits.

As an idea, maybe we could have Farm Aid event where we all farm for credits for buying tabs.

Guild banks are always a touchy subject. I agree we do not want some new person coming in and cleaning it out and we don't want it filled up with junk.

I'm sure the O's will come up with some game plan. I'm not sure of the mechinics of the bank and how much flexablity the O's have on granting withdrawals, deposits and so forth.

LOL I've started typing several suggestions but dang they all sounded to harsh or to wishy washy. LOL

I think this issue is actually really simple. Bellow are some simple rules followed by guilds I have been in in the past.

*If your going to put something in a guild's bank, just know that once it is in there, consider it gone, it is now for others to use.

*Restricting level/quality of items allowed to be deposited is not appropriate. A guild bank is a place for new players/guild members to get suppies and a head start.

*If you have something you feel is really great and you want to decide who is going to recieve it, then gift it directly to the person of your choosing, don't put it in the guild bank.

*When and if the bank gets too cluttered, then the guild bank manager is responsible for sorting the items and selling them. The proceeds are to be placed back into the guild bank as available funds for others to use.

I feel that following these simple rules will encourage the spirit of generosity and team work that a guild is supposed to foster.

I agree with all of the rules suggested by Quantum... except 1. I dont think anyone should have access to the funds and I definitely do not think the funds should ever be used for equipment repairs. I think all funds should to go purchasing new bank tabs. Once all of the bank tabs are purchased, funds should be delegated by the crafting officer to pay for crafting materials to make goods for guildies.

I'd be ready to give 100 now for either both bank.

My suggestions:
DEPOSITS: No green gear (who needs green upgrades ever?), other than that I'd suggest open season unless there's a problem.

REPAIRS: Suggest not offering it til we have all the bank tabs we need.

WITHDRAWALS: If there's a threshold for how many stacks per day, just set that and nothing more restrictive. I personally just wanna share junk I don't need.

Now who do we give our money to, and how much has already been raised?

I agree with Quuantum and Rybo. Funds should not be used for repairs.

Here is something we had in our WoW guild and it worked great! Remember this was written for wow and I've not changed the verbaige.

= = = =
For the new members of the guild, it appears as though we need some clarification regarding our policies regarding the guild bank. Our policies are really quite simple:

Don't put anything in the guild bank that you might get upset about if someone uses it for a different purpose (i.e. vendors for gold, gives to an alt, gives to a perfect stranger, makes a Lady Gaga outfit out of the various fish and baked goods).

Anything in the bank is free for you to take (within your set daily limit) for whatever purpose you'd like. If you need to skill up Enchanting, DE those greens for mats. If you need the cloth to skill up Tailoring, take all the Linen you'd like. If you are hard up on gold, take that Blue and put it in the AH.

Our logic here is that if we have no rules regarding the guild bank, there's no potential for any kind of drama or for anyone to be upset about anything. My personal opinion is that if you need gold that badly, sure sell the stuff. At the end of the day a guild member is getting the help he or she needs.

An unsaid rule is please use some judgment and wisdom when deciding what to put in the guild bank. Do you really think someone in the guild wants your 40 Rough Stone, Ice Cold Milk or Marks of the Illidari? If you see that stuff vanish fast it's because our Guild Bank Attendant Fairies regularly clean that stuff out and vendor it.

Guild bank withdrawals are limited to members who are not Authenticated. Sorry, but we get about one hacked person a quarter and it's quite annoying for me because all the stolen stuff gets mailed back to me. If you're not going to protect your account, you're not protecting our bank either and I feel like that entitles you to less priviledges.

One of the things I did with my guild and again some of this cannot be implemented until more tabs are purchased but asking members to donate and place in a 'specific region' of the bank can save the bank officer some time, as well as those wanting to peruse the bank.

i.e.

You have 3 bank tabs .. Tab 1 is for gear, Tab 2 is for crafting mats, Tab 3 is for mods augments etc ...

In row 1 of tab 1 gear say level 1-20 is put there, row 2 .. gear say 20-30, row 3 30-40 etc.

Now of course this was posted on a note in each tab of our guild bank in eq2 and of course folks sometimes just threw crap wherever they pleased lol! ... But anyway when everyone works together if you are looking for something, you didn't have to mouse over every single thing in there lol!

Anyway another thought

Sorry for not posting here sooner, I was also ill this week, (I wonder if I caught it off Kasper? lol)

I love all your ideas and I know it will be a process of trial and error to find out the best system for the guild banks. KiddKasper will be in responsible for, and making the decisions about, the banks and will therefore be the one you all need to convince! (Sorry Kasper).

As I need to be the one to buy the first tabs before we can even set up the guild bank systems, I think the only way to do this is for me to have the credits for the first tabs. Therefore I'd like to ask very nicely for anyone who wants to donate towards the set up of the banks to send me the credits in the in-game mail. Everyone who does donate will get my thanks and the thanks of the whole guild, as well as a thank you in the forums, lol.

My "guildmaster" characters are:

Zepi - Republic

Zepari - Empire

Could I also ask (nicely) that players who are on both sides to split their donation between the guilds so we can ensure that the Republic and Empire guilds can both have their banks as soon as possible.

Thank you!

I changed the MOTD on the Republic side to ask donations be sent to Zepi to acquire the guild bank and that the goal was 600,000 credits. I did that when I saw the MOTD on Empire side. Hopefully, that will work and people will begin mailing donations to you, Zepari. I still can't believe Bioware went this route and forced us to buy even the base tab before anything could be set up.  It's make me think, why did they even bother adding this feature if they were going to charge everyone their first, second, and third born child to even be able to use it? Steam has been emanating from my ears ever since I found out! I feel like mailing them an incendiary device! :pinch:

t would be easier to mail to one toon i think as republic can now mail to the empire so we can get the tabs up quicker

Really?? I wasn't aware of that, that would be great (providing it actually works), I will test it out in-game tonight and let you all know for sure. If I am able to mail to my Empire toons, I will change the MOTD to say mail to Zepari as that is the more recognized name. :)

Ok, I tested mailing cross-faction. Unfortunately, it only works for those toons that are in your legacy, in other words you can mail cross-faction but only to your own toons. So much for trying to get the donations mailed to one toon. Oh well....It was a good suggestion while it lasted. :S

can't you mail it to your own toon on the other side and then mail it to Zep's toon? a bit of a pain, I know, but would that work?

Re: Guild Banks how we gonna do this?

April 23 2012
That is certainly an excellent suggestion, Kiddkasper. Unfortunately, human nature being what it is I don't think many people would want to go through the steps (and not everyone has toons on both sides). We were trying to come up with an extremely easy, "no excuse for not doing it" method to hopefully increase the donations received for the banks and Zepari's name is much more recognizable than Zepi's. That and I don't think I could fit those instructions in the MOTD. It's such a pain to send messages or post anything in-game as the space to do so is so drastically limited you practically have to put everything in some sort of shorthand code. I am sure I am just stating the obvious though as you are already aware of these issues...:) When I send anyone an in-game message about their forum name, I have to decide what important detail to leave out, otherwise I end up sending 2 or more messages and losing the reader after the 2nd sentence. But I digress....I guess we'll just have to leave it like it is and hope people come through but I am really concerned about not getting guild banks due to the outrageous cost involved. I truly hope members aren't actually expecting someone to pony up the 600,000 credits because that's not the responsibility of any of the Officers nor any one member. It's a collective responsibility of all members. (Now I'll get off my soapbox because this is common knowledge, at least I hope it is. ;))

Problem solved! The guild banks are now open in both guilds (Republic and Empire) so everyone can donate directly to the bank now. If anyone has any problems, questions or suggestions regarding the guild banks, please post them here or send me a PM. Thanks again to everyone who donated credits for the first tabs. We now "just" need to raise 1 million credits on each side for the next tabs.
