Guild Social Event - Pics and Character Comp

Hi everybody,

We will be holding our first Guild Social event next Saturday the 3rd of March. The event will be a chance for us to get a group picture of all our main characters on the Republic and Empire side. We will also be having our first character competition, this first one being "Hottest Character", lol.

So bring along your favourite character to be part of the guild pic, and if you want to enter the Hottest Character competition, a solo picture will be taken of your character and posted in the forums for us all to vote on.

The event will be split into 4 individual events to allow everyone to take part, but you are encouraged to attend any and all events.

Republic social 1 - 12 noon PST, 3pm EST, 8pm GMT.
Empire Social 1 - 1pm PST, 4pm EST, 9pm GMT.
Republic Social 2 - 7pm PST, 10pm EST, 3am GMT(Sunday)
Empire Social 2 - 8pm PST, 11pm EST, 4am GMT(Sunday)

One thing we still need to decide before I create the event on the Events section of the site is the locations. I've not played every character type so I'm not sure what is the best place on each side to hold these events. We need a location for as many Republic charcters to get together as possible and another location for Empire characters.

Since there are different starting planets on each side, it seems that we will have to pick a location that is the first place both types of charcters can go to, and unfortunately that means that only characters who have got a ship will be able to attend. This is one of the reasons we waited so long before arranging a guild pic.

Please reply to this post if you know a perfect location for all the characters of one side to get together for a guild pic. Please note that it doesn't have to be a location all characters can get to, just one location for Republic and one for Empire that most characters can get to at as low a level as possible.

I think the Republic Fleet (Republic) and Imperial Fleet (Empire) will be the most logical choices. These are the central flow points on each side for character progression. Also, people are able to access them before quests lead them there, but not all can go at level 1, if any can. I'm still testing this, though. People will just have to know how to manually get there if their quests have not taken them there yet. Here's a quick rundown of how to get to the shuttle points by planet:

Republic:
Tython - north hall on the second level of the Jedi Temple
Ord Mantell - southeast hall of Fort Garnik Spaceport

Empire:
Hutta - north hall of the Jiguuna Spaceport
Korriban - southern path leading east from the Sith Academy

I believe you can get to Coruscant without your ship as well. The Seneate PLaze has plenty of space for a picture and lookes nice as well. Besides if everyone is bringing their mains they should at least be level 10. The shuttles from the starting planets will take you to the fleet at any level, and the shuttle to Coruscant should do the same.

There is also a nice park area called Garden of Equality in the plaza to the one side.

I wish I could be there next weekend.

I don't see how we could choose any place besides the "Garden of Equality," personally. Great suggestion!

The "Fleet's" on both sides are probably the most practical suggestions so far. I wasn't aware it was so easy for everyone to get there, so even though the background isn't pretty, it will make the competition fair.

I'm hoping to run an event like this every month from now on with different critera, such as "ugliest toon" etc, so we have plenty of time to figure out the best location later. For now, I'm just desperate to get the social events started, lol.

ooh sounds fun. Unfortunately I will likely not be able to make it as it's my hubby's bday and we will likely be oot and aboot. If I can sneak in for one of the times I will...

Because some people will suffer with interface lag in the fleet I'd suggest Coruscant for Rep and Dromund Kaas for the Empire.

The Garden of Equality for Republic sounds great!

One other option is those without a ship could be ferried to the event site by those that have ships. I know this might be difficult to coordinate but is possible and I don't mind making any of my ships available for whomever might need a ride. :)

The Garden of Equality on Corusant sounds perfect for the Republic side and for the Empire we can just meet outside the spaceport on Dromund Kaas.

I'll post the event tonight once I've had a chance to scout the locations and write some suitable directions. If anyone else would like to write some simple directions to the Garden of Equality from the Corusant starting area, that would be great, just PM them to me or post them here. Thanks

Unfortunately this isn't an option. I tried to give a guild mate a ride in my ship the other day from the fleet to Nar Shaddaa. It said that they couldn't enter someone else's ship if they didn't have their own first. We were all very disappointed. I thought it was possible, too; alas, it's not.

However, the capitals for both sides are probably best. At least that way there are direct shuttles people without ships can take from the fleet.

There will be a Republic Datacron run after event.

I've created the events now, using Coruscant and Dromund Kaas as locations. However I hope to run this event every month (with a different character competition each time, next month is weirdest character) so we can change the locations if we find a more suitable place. From next month I may hold the character competition on the four starter planets so people can create toons just for the event, but I didn't have time to arrange help for all that this time. It will be nice to get a group pic of everyones main, higher level, characters for now.

Ok I've been wandering round Coruscant for an hour and still can't find the Garden of Equality, lol.

Can someone post directions, or we can all meet near the spaceport and find a nice background to take the pics against.

For anyone who can't find it the Garden of Equality is on the west side of the map in front of the senate tower.

It is on the top of the Senate Commercial District just keep going west instead past the ramp down to the commercial district.
