FRC pres attacks gay characters in TOR

In a radio bulletin called 'Rebel Fleet Surrenders to Gay Empire' the Family Research Council's Tony Perkins urged his listeners to bombard video game maker Bioware with comments over its decision to include gay relationships in its Star Wars: The Old Republic video game.

FRC President Tony Perkins said:
In a new Star Wars game, the biggest threat to the empire may be homosexual activists! Hello, I'm Tony Perkins of the Family Research Council in Washington, D.C. In a galaxy not so far far away, Star Wars gamers have already gone to the dark side. The new video game, Star Wars: The Old Republic, has added a special feature: gay relationships. Bioware, the company that developed the game, said it's launching a same-sex romance component to satisfy some complaints. That surprised a lot of gamers, since Bioware had made it clear in 2009 that "gay" and "lesbian" don't exist in the Star Wars universe. Since the announcement, homosexuals have been celebrating the news, but parents sure aren't. On the game's website, there are more than 300 pages of comments--a lot of them expressing anger that their kids will be exposed to this Star Warped way of thinking. You can join them by logging on and speaking up. It's time to show companies who the Force is really with!

This is an anti-gay attack in our own backyard. What do you guys think we should do about this?

Umm, don't they know Bioware has put gay relationships in their other games (Dragon Age anyone)?

How does this gay relationship even form in the story? I am not familiar with TOR game mechanics, only the ones in STO.

FRC is blowing this aspect of the game out of proportion (as with other gay-related issues). You don't see Bioware marketing the game around the whole relationship feature

I'd actually think they'd be happy because unlike real life in the game it's a choice (lol). You are given an option to flirt and typically if you do not take the first or 2nd time you loose the option all together.

Just how many of the 300 pages are the same 2 dozen people repeating in the new list what they said in the old list.

In 2010 The Southern Poverty Law Center called FRC a hate group hers a link to SPLC info on the FRC. They have powerful friends but I think there full of hot air, looking for anything to to get attention.

They are never going to have any solid facts they are just trying to get attention as SaintPlazma said. This is a fantasy world that is based nothing on reality. They are just fishing at any sad attempt to let people know who they are and allow their ignorance to spread hate.

I listened to their hatecast and, typical of bible thumpers, they sounded as if they were ignorant of most of the facts. As if they read part of something that could have had much more information and then just assumed they knew everything about it. (Like they do with the bible.)

It cracks me up that they dare to have the word "research" in the title of their religious hate group.

Plus I can't help but think of Fried Rice and Chicken whenever their name pops up.

I came here to voice my concern over their intolerance, but now all I can think about is lunch....

Not sure what we can do. I've seen this king of attack over and over with anything gay these grps come out from under their rocks and start attacking.

Once the facts come out these folks usually crawl away until another (fill in the blank) comes around and they start all over again.

They will not be able to register on the SW:ToR forums unless they have an actual game key so good luck with them spaming. Also, if I remember it correctly most of the posts on the SGRA topic where positive and the community supported them - Straight and Gay.

Since this is a game you have to pay to play I'd suspect that BioWare is not going to change what they already have in other games. That is unless they have millions of folks leave. I'm hopefully this horrid grp of folks will ever make any thing other then a lot of hot air and hate preaching.
