To Fall or not to Fall...

As anyone who has played a Sith can attest it is easy to take the dark side choices because it is expected of a sith to be unforgiving, but what of being Jedi. Currently I am debating whether or not to make my Jedi fall to the dark side or not. I have a Smuggler who is all light side and while that may be nice to be a goody goody Smuggler it doesn't have the same impact that a dark Jedi has.

Has anyone rolled a dark Jedi and if so how are you liking the story changes, if there are any?

I was playing my Jedi Knight and making all dark choices. I eventually stopped playing them at lvl 22. The story line didn't change but again I was only lvl 22.

The reason I stopped playing him and created a new JK and went all Light side was due to the issues with my companions. The only way I could keep the affection pts in the plus was to buy them gifts. That became expensive.

I know others have had better luck so hopefully they will chime in.

Thanks. I know I have some problems with my companions with my Smuggler who are less than moral, but nothing too serious. I can imagine that Kira would hate me completely if I fell to the dark side. I wish they would implement it that she would fall with you.

Kira's hatred for me was one of the reasons I shelved my dark side Jedi Knight. I had to spend a lot of credits on gifts just to get back into the plus side of things.

With that said I love my re rolled Jedi Knight who is all light side. My companions all love me know and Kira likes me so much now that i'm light we went back to Nar Shaddaa and helped out some of her former "friends".

I'm not sure how dark side or light side is going to effect my Empire side toons but then I've just started playing them as well. Should be interesting.

I'm actually not a huge fan for light or dark as no one is perfect and the moral choices are different for all. I felt personally on the characters where I went 100% either way that it in a way ruined it due to even though you are offered choices the mindset of I'm either Dark or Light removes the other options.

What I have been doing since this discovery is choosing based on the situation and what I felt my character or myself would do in the situation if faced with it. Doing this has some upsides and some downsides.

Upsides:
  • The longer you stay neutral you have access to every crystal in game.
  • Companions tend to love what you do because even the light ones sometimes prefer the dark choices due to the decision you made.
  • Your character isn't stuck in a mold and you tend to get different reactions.
  • Sometimes even your character responses will surprise you.
  • It is fun to see where it naturally takes your character.

Downsides:
  • Gear becomes harder to find but is still obtainable. (even though I couldn't use vendored light sabers I got green ones to update from quests frequently enough)
  • If you have issues with choices it can sometimes stump you on what to do.

Some excellent points. I may actually roll another toon on republic side (empire side are brand new so this should be interesting to test out) and try this process out as I was making choices basied on light and not taking into consideration my feelings, which sometimes wanted the dark side choices. Something to think about with my future characters and my new Empire characters.

Thanks!
