Leadership Team/Issues Resolution?

January 11 2012
Hey guys,

I've been noticing a lot of chatter in guild chat lately where Officers or Guild Leaders are needed. A few issues:

  • Guild Members getting argumentative with other guild members
  • Guild members having problems with other "alliance" guilds' members (like Rough Trade, etc.)

I'd been directing people to Doogiegood, as I thought he was the Guild Leader (given he's been doing invites and handling some of the in-game problems - and handling them well, at that), but was corrected in gChat and told Zepi is managing the guild now...? However I don't see Zepi logged in a lot of the times I'm playing or when problems come up.

For the most part many of us in gchat have been directing people here to the forums, especially when Doogie wasn't around.

But basically... I'm curious what the guild leadership structure is and who's who and what's going on and who we should be directing people to if they have questions, need invites, etc.?

Zepi/Zepari is GM of both guilds. I do know that all members have to follow the Code of Conduct. As far as invites go I know that Captains can do invites.

With issues that arise in the game I know you can speak to an officer about it who exactly is an officer on the republic side I'm not sure. I do know though that personally I am a Captain on both so if no one is on feel free to jump on the Empire side and see if I am on I'm personally more than willing to switch to add a character for someone.

I do know that if you cannot find anyone online worse case you can email leadership to report an issue.

Quote by CodeofConduct
Finally, any member can be removed from the guild without having violated the rules above if they are found to have negatively affected the overall morale of the guild. Such removals will only be in rare, extreme cases. These cases would be decided upon by a majority vote of the officers.

The above Code of Conduct is not exhaustive and Officers may take action to limit any behavior they deem to be disruptive.
If you feel like a member has broken the above Code of Conduct or that they are adversely affecting the morale of the fleet then please contact an Officer as soon as possible, or alternatively contact the Personnel Department in complete confidence at personnel@stonewallfleet.com.

If you are unclear about any part of the Code of Conduct then please ask an Officer for clarification. The consequences of failing to abide by this code can be found in the Member's Handbook.

Thanks for the info, Jon.

So... is there a list somewhere of Officers and Captains, Republic and Empire sides, with a list of their toons? If not, that would be very helpful.

Someone was actually mentioning in gchat that they'd emailed the Personnel Dept. and hadn't had any response. Then what are they to do?

Thanks! That Officer List was what I couldn't locate. Was looking for it in the menus above... forgot to check the Council Chamber.

I'm sorry if there has been in-game problems and no officer has been around. We are currently in the process of restructuring and hopefully we'll have a leadership team you're happy with.

The officer list you presented is out of date. The current KoS/LoS officers are:

Zepi (KoS) / Zepari (LoS)
DakonKor
Halish

We also have a few Captain's and are Recruiting More, if you're interested in helping.

If you have any problems in game (I'm not sure why people are having problems with members of other guilds?) and nobody is around then sending us a message on KnightsofStonewall.com would be the best idea (screenshots of any bad behaviour would be very helpful).

It's a shame SWTOR doesn't have the same out-of-game chat abilities that STO has. Having officers logged in all the time just isn't feasible :(

I'm sorry for any problems you and the rest of the membership have had.

Halish,

Zepari recently promoted me to Captain in game so could you please add my character to that list. Xal on KoS.

I am going to be creating an Empire side character tonight and I will post it here as well as message you to promote that character so when I am in game I can help with any issues that arise.

Thank you.

In Zep's post about Captains, he mentioned that they would be replacing Lieutenants:

Quote by Zepari

Job Description:

  • Help with inviting new members and existing member's alt characters to the in-game guilds
  • Help members with their questions about the game, and keeping the chat channels friendly

As you can see, this role would not take a lot of your time and I know quite a few of you have already being doing this in the current "Lieutenant" rank (which is being replaced with the rank of Captain).

So, essentially it's a name change. I don't know why, it's always been beyond me to understand their thinking. :P

Anyways, Zep will be posting soon about actual officer positions. Hopefully sooner rather than later.

Thanks for posting this Jedi as this has been on my mind for some time.

I understand that the guild is undergoing some restructuring. And I look forward to all the changes that are forthcoming.

I've also gotten private tells from folks who are frustrated with other guilds. And sadly I've had to put a couple guild members on ignore due to issues they cause within guild chat, I really don't like doing this but sometimes it's the only way to avoid additional problems. Seems that not every LGBT person is as thoughtful as we would hope.

One thing I think is a problem and would like to point out .........inviting anyone just because (fill in the blank). I know some folks think that having more guild members is the way to go but we should show some caution with invites.

Every nite I'm on (which has been every nite since release) I see in guild chat "omg so and so has a cool name invite them" and then bam that person gets invited to the guild. Or my all time favorite "this dude is so killer as a tank we just got to have him in the guild", I mean really you grp'd with someone once and you suddenly know they are a good fit for the guild? What I'm surprised about are those that can invite and how they just hit the /ginvite key at the slightest thought of someone who wants to join the guild.

Just because you have the ability to invite doesn't mean you should invite the person.

I understand that many folks will disagree with me and that is okays. I come from a more structured organized guild set up. Where I feel that taking some caution to inviting people to the guild is a good thing (along with other aspects of guild set up) .

I'm happy to help those who are organizing guild events or anyone who needs a hand with .

Hi everyone,

Thank you for bringing up your concerns. I hope you can bear with us just a little longer. This past weekend we spent quite a bit of time discussing the guild reorganization. I hate to say it, but there may be another week or two of some growing pains due to the large active player base we have and the need to get things organized in a way that gives us room to grow and effectively manage such a large and active guild.

We do have capabilities for moderating disruptive players both in game, in Vent, and here on the forums. However, we do have specific guidelines we need to follow to make sure things are handled as fairly as is possible.

Because this post is getting longer than intended I am going to start with this:

If you run into any situation you feel is inappropriate, and that you believe the leadership team can handle (we can deal with guild chat, or Ventrilo, but have no control over communication channels managed by Taint, for example), don't hesitate to send me a Private message via this website. I get an email notification instantly of a new message. As long as I'm not in a meeting, or overwhelmingly busy, I should be able to discuss the situation at nearly any time via this method.

Also, if you are witnessing uncomfortable, or disruptive chat in game, whether directed directly at you, or at another player, take as many screenshots of the conversation as you can. We will ask you to share these with us so that we can discuss the situation with the appropriate parties if we were unable to witness the event(s) for ourselves. We will need some kind of evidence that the events occurred, and with TOR's systems, unless there is an Officer or Captain online to take screenshots themselves as things occur, there is little we can do but talk with "offender" and ask them for their side unless we have documented evidence.

I am one of two officers who will be focused on the Republic side. But due to the real world, I usually only get to put in somewhere between 1-3 hours actually in the game during the evenings on most evenings, and between 3-6 hours a day on the weekends.

That said, however, I monitor the forums (and therefore my private messages) throughout the day, nearly every day, so I am rarely no further than a Private Message away. My email is always with me, so even if I"m not actively in the forums, an email notification of a new Private Message will prompt me to check in and help where I can. So in summary, if you have any questions or concerns, don't ever hesitate to contact me via PM either via the website or in game. If I am not immediately available, I can at least get the ball rolling or see if another Officer is available to address the situation.

Hey DakonKor... thanks for the topic listing the officers. It's locked so I couldn't comment, but I think you're missing a few: Darryn, Doogiegood and Nick?

Thanks to Justjon who's been logged in game today and keeping things under wraps. Nice to see you there, Jon!

Thanks for the feedback Jedilicious.

I locked down the thread specifically so it didn't turn into a multi-page discussion thread. I figured it was better served as a quick-reference guide. Any additions or changes can be handled by any of the officers.

I know Zep has been recruiting Captains, but I am not yet aware of who has and has not yet been approved, so I will continue to update the thread as the Officers and Captains send me the characters they wish to have included on the list.

I would like to add that I have included my email address which doubles as a GTalk or AIM screen name for instant messaging.

It was my pleasure :) I am going to try to start spreading my time between both KoS and LoS more since I have Characters I enjoy on both sides. I will try to be around during times I know there aren't a lot of Captains on one or the other till they get more Captains spread between the two guilds. Again if anyone needs anything all of my names are on the Leadership thread please feel free to hop over and find me and I can switch over if needed.

Coming from a bit of an quiet outsider and mostly LoS player. It seems to me that LoS would benefit from having a team leader and officers that are mostly playing on that side. Harl(Aldente) was kind of it until now, he was doing a great job, mentoring/helping everyone. Captain concept is fine, but a guild still need some regular leadership present IMO

Just my 2cents ;)

I believe that is the ultimate goal. There is currently a post about new Officer Positions. I can only assume but from what I've gathered they seem to be trying to set a unified structure now that the Guild Master role has been set to a player for KoS because up until a week ago they did not have one.

I know the O's have their hands full as running a guild is never easy and KoS has grown much faster then we could have imagined. I sit back and I'm just amazed that the game has not even been out a month, I'm having so much fun playing that it seems like I've been in game for much longer.

As Dakon has said the O's are working on putting everything together so I hope that the membership will hang tight a couple more weeks and help out where needed. If you see someone not following the code of conduct or just being down right disruptive then take screen shots and say something to an O.

Sometimes it's a bit easier to criticize and complain then jump in and lend a hand. (I'm guilty of this as well but will do what I can to change my evil dark side ways)
For everyone who has posted about officers in game, organization and direction of the guild, cleaning up guild chat....etc etc.... go to Zepi's posts where he's requested help and is looking for captains and officers. This is a great chance for you to make a difference. Help KoS to become an even better guild and place for folks to come and enjoy SW:TOR.

Big hugz to the O's and know that we are behind you and there to support you.

Right on the nose Jon. There are other extenuating circumstances on top of this that really isn't my place to discuss, but we are working through these unexpected complications as well.

I believe we are going to start the guild restructuring today or tomorrow, but I will leave it to Zep to announce the details. Given the size of the guild, don't be surprised if it takes us a week or two to get everything settled and in place, but once complete, we can refocus on community building rather than management.

If you look at the Officer recruitment thread, you can be assured that we intend to at least 2 Officers with a Main in each of the two factions: one with a focus on PvE and one with a focus on PvP, but that relates mostly to events planning and coordination. This is an effort to make sure we have full coverage over both sides. This is in addition to a Crafting Officer and Zep's position as Operations Officer that are not specifically aligned.

Bear in mind that any Officer will have the same privileges regardless of faction (or focus), so if one isn't immediately logged in, on the Lords, for example, you can log into a Knights character, or send a PM through the website and if we're available, we can jump to the other faction to try and help.
