Now Recruiting Captains!

January 10 2012
Hi everybody, we are currently recruiting members of Knights and Lords of Stonewall for the new role of "Captain". This role will not be complicated or full of responsibility, but we do need a lot of volunteers to help with some in-game administration. So, if you want to help out your fellow members then have a look at the job description and apply!

Job Description:

  • Help with inviting new members and existing member's alt characters to the in-game guilds
  • Help members with their questions about the game, and keeping the chat channels friendly

As you can see, this role would not take a lot of your time and I know quite a few of you have already being doing this in the current "Lieutenant" rank (which is being replaced with the rank of Captain).

How to Apply:
Do NOT post your application here.
Just send me (Zepari) a Message via my profile page with the word "Captain" in the title.
You don't need to say much, just that you are willing to help with the above tasks when you are in-game.
Feel free to post any questions you have about the role here, or PM them to me.

Could you elaborate a little on this please?

If you read section two of the Code of Conduct, you'll see an outline of the rules that need to be followed when chatting in the guild.

Captains will help maintain that standard whenever possible.

Quoted for convenience:
Section 2: IRC Chatroom and the in-game Channel
1. Be respectful. Remember that all members are entitled to their opinions.

2. Do not harass or insult other members. There is no excuse for resorting to personal insults during any discussion.

3. No anonymity. Do not deliberately hide your identity in the chatroom, anyone who refuses to identify themselves will be removed.

4. Do not conduct private conversations in public. If you intend to conduct a conversation with a single or small group of other members, use Team chat or the Tell system.

5. Do not spam or block other users. Posting commercial links not related to the current topic of conversation or repetitive posts designed to block the chatroom will not be tolerated.

6. No sexually explicit language. We have a PG-13 policy in all public chatrooms, do not engage in sexually explicit conversations or post links to explicit content. Swearing should be kept to a minimum. If in any doubt, do not say anything which may offend.

7. Respect Privacy. Do not share your contact details or ask others to share their personal information in a public chatroom.

Yes, what Halish said.

It's not an obligation of the Captains to tackle anyone who is making the chat channel unpleasant for people, only to change the subject or remind them why the rules are there if they feel ok doing that. Luckily we have a great group of people here and this part of the role is rarely needed.

Another part of making the channels friendly is trying to reply to people (as long as you're not busy fighting) who say hello to everyone, or who are having trouble getting a question answered. Even if we don't know the answer to the question, it's always helpful to remind people that they are not being ignored.
