Good vs. Evil

December 20 2011
Well, I've been concentrating on my Jedi Consular Orrion since Thursday when I got in and I enjoy being a goody-two-shoes, although some of the "light side" choices have left a bad taste in my mouth. Yesterday I finally decided to work on the Sith Inquisitor I created, Unah'Zaal. I have to say, the Dark Side is a lot of fun!! I giggled wickedly when I ratted out a woman who was plotting against her master. The odd thing is, during the Consular missions, there is a similar situtaion where you have to narc on somebody, but I felt bad about it. I guess that's the difference between being good and evil.

I'm getting stir crazy here at work, I want to be playing! At least I'm off all of next week, woohoo!!

LOL, don't feel bad on the republic side. My jedi knight is going full dark side. Every choice that gives me dark pts is what I pick. It's kind of fun to see how the story unfolds.

On my sith warrior I've been choosing light side options and having a blast.

It's great that you can pick how you want to play it regardless of chosen faction. Does the sith corruption effects get worst as you go up dark levels or does it pretty much stay the same? I'm almost at dark 3, curious

I also like the humour they put in the conversations. Like in black talon flashpoint where you have the option to tell the guy on hologram how ugly he is.

The Sith corruption will gradually change your looks. I only ever made it to dark side 2 in beta and the change was very noticable.

You can turn the sith corruption effects off in the preferences if you don't want them to show. I figure I worked so hard at being dark I want the look. :)

I also found the vendors for the light/dark side gear and stuffs. On the republic side they are in the space station.

My commando is going light sided. It's alright for the most part, but his lines are so cringe worthy when you pick the "good" responses. He's such a douche, ugh.

I'm sure my Consular could give your Commando a run for his money in the douche department. I should try out a Smuggler, I bet they have fun dioalogue. They probably get the best of both worlds because they are loveable scoundrels.

Smugglers are fun to play. I've already slept with the senator's daughter and then she follow me around and confronted me about it. Geesh it was just one afternoon not a life time!! Women.

I remember reading that the responses are centered around 3 types, good guy, middle ground and douche bag. Not sure if that is true but some of the dialog options the smuggler gets is a bit egotistical and looks to be snotty. No I've not chosen those, I've always gone for the good guy options on my smuggler....well that is when I'm not flirting with daughters of high ranking officials. :)

With my Smuggler, I like to play her as having a "heart of gold" if you will. I expect her to stay around the Light I-II range, she's a good person who will usually do the right thing, but by no means perfect.

My Consular is as good as they get, aside from the fact that he just always looks angry..

All I can say is, "I maybe bad but I am perfectly good at it."

That is certainly true for my Sith Inquisitor.

light vs. dark is not really good vs. evil but detachment vs. attachment... love and pleasure are both "attachments," we enjoy these things when we have them, but it causes us pain to be without... pain leads to the darkside.

We can also attach ourselves to regret... if we do something and things turn out badly, we may regret out decision. Regret causes pain as well.

So... you can totally be a "good" player leaning towards the darkside.

My husband and I have been teaming since we both got off of our starter worlds. He's a Consular and I'm a Commando. We've both gone Light on every option, yet, somehow, I'm 2000 points ahead of him at level 23.

I have to say I'm pleasantly surprised that, unlike in nearly every other game, going purely "Light" isn't necessarily always "Good." At one point in the Commando's story, he captures an Imperial commander who promises key intelligence information if you let him live and go free. Your contact informs you he is a war criminal who has committed atrocities against civilians. Letting him live (and thus go free) gives you Light side points, but I don't think it's necessarily the "good" choice.

Up to this point, I've been pure "Light," but am starting to think I'm going to allow that reputation to get tarnished if I get saddled with similar choices in the future.

I'm definitely playing an Imperial Agent eventually. Since I can't be bothered with messing around with character creation anymore (I can spend WAY too much time on it otherwise), I'll just play the "evil" twin of my trooper. Yeah, yeah, I know bounty hunters are the mirror class for troopers, but the agent storyline appeals to me more. I'm planning on playing him as light side as possible, sort of like a double agent, or at the very least a secret Republic sympathizer.
