lol. well why not have cross faction chat then? Seems inconsistent. You'd think either the 2 factions are as separate as can be or not.

I rarely if ever even pvp, so please don't confuse me with someone who has a stake in this. I'm just trying to understand.

I chatted extensively with an opposite faction player while riding the balloon to get to the Datacrons.

interesting. and in contradiction to the OP's statement. Riding balloons sounds fun though. Where do they have balloons?

It doesn't actually contradict what was said. Custom chat channels don't allow cross-faction conversations, but /say works fine across factions for folks who are nearby. I suppose the entire issue would be moot if we all kept our characters in the same place. :)

maybe it'll even become relevant to me if I end up pvp-ing. Though it seems unlikely it will be any more than the occassional diversion for me that it was in other games...

It's a Jawa balloon. You climb on an "abandoned" sandcrawler (I enquote it because the lights are all on on the inside) and wait up to 40 minutes for it to arrive and then its a 20 minute ride in the gondola to another "abandoned" crawler. :P When I did it, the person with whom I was riding was constantly sliding backwards; although, to them, I was the one sliding backwards.
