Oh What Class to Play???

First: I always believe you should play something you will enjoy since your shelling out dollars to play.

I originally started out thinking about smuggler. Who wouldn't love the fastest ship in the fleet and umm..your own big hairy companion. woof In one vid the smuggler was the grp healer? What the heck? I wonder if they are doing away with healing classes and letting you pick up items to heal your grp with?

But of course I watched several vids from the official website and started liking the trooper. Wowzers they have big guns! :silly: Seriously they do pack a mean punch with their weapons and armor.

Question. In the vids I was watching troopers tend to be the tanks of any grp. Is that the general idea behind them or maybe it was just the few vids I was watching?

Release is a few months away so I guess there is still time. By release I'll probably change my mind again.

I'm thinking of trying a Trooper on Jedi side but I'm sticking with Inquisitor on Sith side, I love my force lightning! I'm hoping the Trooper will have some good abilities to make up for the lack of force and lightsaber, but I think I want to play all classes eventually just so I can get all I can from the game.

Jedi Guardian :) I wish I could dual saber but I'll live with just one...until I make an alt...or two or three or four etc..

A smuggler who is a healer,,,I'm liking that. :) I eventually end up playing a healer - WoW - Holy Priest, Rift - Warden.

Being that I have an incurable case of altitis, I'll be playing an agent (purely for the spiffy ship), the trooper and the bounty hunter.

It rather bothers me that you are assigned a ship and a side based on your class. I would rather like to be a bounty hunter that works for whomever pays the most, republic or sith. I wouldn't mind playing a rank and file trooper in the sith empire's army, and it would be nifty to consider that the empire also has the equivalent of agents. I also rather think that, as a smuggler, one would be outside of both sides. Instead we have smugglers who... what, smuggle for the republic? (Unlike the little video they released of the smuggler being held by the jedi for suspicion of smuggling.) It boggles me that we don't have a group of aligned classes that allow you to choose a side and then the non-aligned classes (bounty hunter and smuggler) that operate outside of the conflict (outside, yet affected by).

Planning on starting out with a Jedi of some kind then maybe roll a Smuggler. Sith for the Force Lightning has me drooling though.

I am an altoholic so I will be playing all of the Sith Empire classes. I'm not sure when I will ever get around to playing Republic classes though...

Having had Druid in WoW and Science in STO i think I'll go for a Trooper in SWTOR.

Bored with healing. I want to kill stuff.

I'm gonna roll out a Consular and Sith Inquisitor simply for the versatility and the storylines. I want to do all the Jedi and Sith storylines first; then maybe I'd do a smuggler and a bounty hunter.

My First Character is going to be the Sith Inquisitor, followed by the Jedi Consular or Knight, not sure yet. Then I will be Rolling a Smuggler and an Imperial Agent.

I'll probably go with consular first for the story.... I'm concerned about the whole water heater tossing for dps thing... Lightning just seems so much cooler >.>

Then might try out Sith Warrior for the other side of the tale :)

In the new Huttball video they have started throwing more than water heaters, just fyi.

I will eventually play a consular to see their story and game play.

Still tossing around smuggler and a trooper. I just don't want folks to auto think I'm a tank if I play a trooper. I really really suck at tanking.

If you watch the class progression video for the Trooper, the Commando and Vanguard are quite distinct (Commando being the Minigun/Healer route, the Vanguard being the Armor/Close-Range damage route), so visually there should be no mistaking one for the other.

If I were to play this game for ship along, the Agent or either Sith would be my way to go. Hell, I could even TOLERATE the Jedi ship. Ironically the class I want to play most (Commando) has my least favorite ship. I won't let that hold me back though.

Oh so we really don't get to mix and match our armor like WoW, okays then there shouldn't be a problem. (sorry I only have wow or rift end game to compare armor and stuffs too) I'll probably gravitate to a healer as that's what I always seem to like doing. :) But blowing up stuffs would be fun for a change.

I really like the ship styles on the Sith side. But the smuggler ship is looking pretty snazzy.

The troopers ship is the least appealing to me.

Heck I don't know I want one of each. :)

I know I said I wouldn't be playing a Jedi, but I changed my mind. :3 I still want to play a trooper and a bounty hunter and an agent, but I REALLY like my race/class combination on my Jedi.

I will no doubt have a jedi/sith of some kind. If only because I want a purple lightsaber :)
