Thank you for the summary. Sadly, the most important question has so far gone unanswered: Is the holodancer only female? Or can we have a studly male holodancer, if we prefer?

If it were any other company, I'd say female only, but Between the Dragon Age series, the rumors of Shephard finally being able to seduce Kaiden in ME3, and (I believe) direct feedback that same sex "relationships" can be developed in SWTOR, I think there's a good chance you'll have an option. At least a *better* chance than if it were anyone else.

Again... purely conjecture based on recent happenings around BioWare's latest titles.

Still not worth the extra $20 for me though. ;-)

Preordered Mikey's and my copies this morning.

What makes you think the dancer will be of a species that has a recognizable gender? Could be a young Hutt for all we know.

I could care less about the dancer, what I want to know is "Is the exclusive item store" worth the $90 extra dollars? They should give some examples of items in it, at least. If they want my $150 instead of my $60, they'd better cough up some better info.

Thats a pretty generic picture, does not have to be an exact example of what it looks like in game.

Got my CE pre-ordered through local Gamestop after work today. Got the early access code, entered it on the SWTOR site so I'm good to go.

Megan (the clerk who did the transaction) breezed through it like she'd been doing it all her life.

Must be family. ;)

$80 or so of the CE is basically the Statue. The Gentle Giant statues normally go for $60-$80 each.

I used to manage a Software Etc. (Before it was Gamestop) and you do end up doing constant pre-orders. The only difficult ones were the big platform machine (PS2, Dreamcast, N64, etc) releases because you sometimes had limited numbers coming in due to the either short sightedness by Nintendo/Sega/Sony or due to them intentionally not shipping enough to satisfy demand so they could force the demand up so they could justify their prices. You ended up having to take pre-orders for release batches, then people would come in every pay check and want to pay a little bit at a time on the pre-order (Which was great, because we had guaranteed sales, at that point, but a hassle because all of our pre-orders were paper slips with stacks of folded credit receipts stapled to them and had to be kept filed and organised with all of the normal preorders.)

The biggest annoyance and hassle with pre-orders was trade-in preorders, especially when people would want to trade an old system in for a new one that was coming out. You had to open everything, hook it all up to one of the TVs and then test it out to make sure it worked. It was never, ever, convenient or easy, due to the layout of the store and the limited counter space.

Sorry... Blathered a bit.

Anyway, yeah, game pre-orders where you're actually paying money are a breeze. Just run it like you're selling the actual product, type in the info, print the receipt, et viola. Once the pre-order process went digital, our customers didn't even need to keep their receipts because it was all stored in the system (though we encouraged them to keep them, nonetheless, just in case of DB issues so they could prove they put X dollars down.)

=edit=

Back on topic, though (sorry I got distracted, there. >.

Necessary to note that no non-NA or European countries are being serviced at launch. Australia, New Zealand, Japan, South America etc. all have to wait...

http://www.swtor.com/community/showthread.php?t=383625

Unless we preorder from Amazon or such, we are out in the cold...

"Unfortunately, to achieve the goal of an exceptional game service certain territories could not be serviced at launch."

Much much unhappiness on the topic

Steven Reid explained the rationale for a staggered release of the game and further confirmed that Bioware won't implement IP blocking...

So, if you're in any of the countries where the game won't be available at launch (like I am) and you have managed to obtain a copy of the game, they'll let you play it with no restrictions...

I managed to get a copy from Amazon over here in Singapore... Got my code and keyed it in without any hassle...

I know! I feel like I've been waiting forever for this game. I have a friend or two who have been in the really closed beta and they tease me about it.

Question: My BF's best friend is a manager at Gamestop so I was going to make use of his employee discount to get the collectors edition. Would I still get an early access code, how would I or the person reserving it for me get that code? Would it be emailed?

Re: Pre-Order information

Hi Jason. Yes you should still get the early access code with a staff discount and as you will need it before the game is shipped, they should email it to you. In most cases with games, the product key is what you input on your SW:TOR profile page to unlock any special features assigned to that particular copy of the game. However, that is usually on the manual and so retailers who provide early access as a pre-order bonus have to ensure you can access that special feature before you get the manual. They should either send you the product key early or a seperate code just for early access. Check every email they send you from now on incase the code is somewhere at the bottom.

I have found that some retailers forget to send out these codes as not all the games they sell need early access, so if you still haven't received a code in the week before early access begins, email their customer services department with a request. I had to do that for Star Trek Online with Amazon UK.
