Are the que(sp) always that sucky, if so they better ramp them up for when it goes live.

The queues will probably be really bad after launch, this is a highly anticipated game. The only thing I can suggest to alleviate it is to choose a server with a silly/stupid/weird name. All of the servers with cool names like "Leviathan" and "Cosmic Turbine" will be the obvious choices for the LCDs and have a much higher population than servers named "Ape Hanger" (or something, possibly not motorcycle related).

So for a shorter queue, go for the servers with stupid names. :p

Good suggestions, Angel. I'm also wondering if the pre-loaded guild system will help to balance out server loads. I believe that's part of the purpose behind them. I'm hoping our conglomerate of GLBTA guilds ends up on a server called "Luke/Han Slash Fiction" -- seems unlikely though...

God that would be an awesome server name.

Let's petition Bioware for it!

Agree!!

EDIT:
Here it is Monday morning and what a wonderful weekend. All I can say is I love the game! Their is so much story to enjoy with each class, I spent a lot of time listening to the dialog and thinking about my choices. I've played the below classes and in my humble opinion the best story lines are with the Counselor and Inquisitor. I'd put the Inquisitor slightly above, can't say just yet due to the NDA but that will be my Sith class to play.

As I've said in other posts, for me SW is a huge change from other mmo's. I would usually just rush up to the max level and then attempt to gear out my toon for raiding or high end instances. In SW:TOR I won't be rushing anything, I'm going to take my time and enjoy the game and story lines. We all play mmo's for different reasons and for me SW:TOR is a welcome and exciting change from other mmo's. There are still plenty of "go kill things" for those that like doing that and who like to dps stuff to death. The instances are challenging, holy cow the first one you come across at lvl 10 was a pain in the butt but our team got it together and we made it thru.

Smuggler lvl 11
Counselor lvl 10
Trooper lvl 4
Jedi Knight lvl 4
Bounty Hunter lvl 5
Inquisitor lvl 8

I originally said I was going to start with a Smuggler or Trooper.....Just don't know now as the Counselor and Inquisitor story lines are awesome. I have a feeling that the starting zone for Counselor/Jedi Knight or the Inquisitor/Sith Warrior are going to be packed on go live so I will probably stay with the Smuggler. But who knows.

Leveling is pretty easy, I did very little "grinding of mobs". Every now and then I would kill extra mobs just to see what they would drop. From what I experienced the drops from mobs are actually useful and in most cases better then quest rewards. That really rocks!

Had a fantastic time playing the game this weekend. I only played empire characters because I plan on mainly playing republic characters and want to save the story for release. I was really impressed even though I had to turn down the settings to get it to play on my 3yo iMac.

Question, is the plan to have KoS on a rp based server?

Currently we are slated for a West Coast PvE server. We allied with other LGBT guilds so that we can all be on the same server. Kind of like the Proudmoore server in Wow where all the LGBT folks are located.

I think there will be many East Coast players. In Rift and WoW I was on West Coast servers and being on the east coast it was very nice as you can get quests done before the masses logged on and I was always able to find grps for quests or instances.

My fiance and I are both on the East Coast so you will always have someone on to run with. As for me I fell in love with my Knight and kind of lost interest in my Smuggler despite the interesting storyline. I tried to fall to the darkside but found I couldn't let myself choose those conversation options.

I will always be a true Jedi at heart.

Its much easier to fall to the dark side when you're playing the dark side :)

Played a Consular to lvl 11 this past weekend. Bottom line, this game is awesome! The frequesnt cut scenes and long dialogues def take some getting used to, but the certainly make you think about your character and make for a very immersive experience.

I played a Shadow and ran in several groups. They still need to work out some the mechanics for that class and I was a bit disappointed.

Unless I hear they have addressed the issue with Shadows, I will most likely be rolling an uber healing sage (with the intent of raiding) and a sentinel at launch.

I was able to get my counselor to 10 and my smuggler to 11. Didn't get a chance to spec my counselor as I ran out of time. I love the cut scenes and dialog, your right it really made for great experience and you really need to think about yoru characters choices.

I spec'd my smuggler into healing and was surprised at how much his first little heal landed for. I went into grps as a dps but always ended up main healing and dps'ing. That is gonna take some getting use to.

I think there are a lot of folks on the Leviathan server but that one can be a bugger with long queues. Keep checking the forums and folks will be posting where they end up.
