Cheesy Pop Event!

CHEESY POP!

In an attempt to resurrect my quickly fading Uni days, I bring you… Cheesy Pop! This was an event in one of those wonderful student unions where they played the songs you love to hate or are far too ashamed to admit that you like, my iTunes is FULL of such songs.

The event itself is simple, it’s a scaled down data sample hunt. There are many people out there who wish to help the crafting corps for all the wonderful work that they do, but just don’t know how. This is the even for you then!
In Vent, I will be playing the types of songs I mentioned above, in the game you will get to go farm data samples while bopping your head along and enjoying the company of those that are also attending. It won’t be too long of an event, around an hour (as that’s really all anyone can take of cheesy pop music) and am sure will be lots of fun, or what we say in Scotland, it will be a laugh!

After this hour, you will come back to me, am thinking in Club 47 on ESD, hand over the data samples, hopefully with some rare ones as well, where if you want, we can hang about and dance to some more Cheesy Pop songs!

But, is there a reward for this, I hear you ask? Aside from the fact you are indulging in musical sin in a risk free environment, there will be perks for coming back with the most samples. The person in first place gets to make 3 requests on the next event! However, it will be from a given playlist, after all I can’t afford to download new songs every week, and those requests might not be Cheesy Pop material! Don’t worry though, the list currently stands at a massive 340 songs and will continue to grow. Look here for the link coming soon™.

So far, this event will happen every second Thursday at:
9pm GMT
4pm EST
1pm PST

If it proves popular, not clashing with other events and am allowed… it may happen more often.

So here is your chance to help the crafting corps, listen to some cheesy music and have some fun with some fleeties!

A little update, the event has been posted for this thursday!

Just as a heads up, we will be hitting 2 nebulas this week to get all those wonderful data samples!

They will be;

Afehirr Nebula and B'Tran (VA) we get the purples in the sector space of B'Tran VA, which are really needed.

Am I allowed to do a different nebula as I'm only a lowly RALH :-(

Yeah, Afehirr is lower than VA :D

I just took a look at the samples the Carfting Corps need and it was greens and purples, but no doubt these will be getting swapped for different events.

I am toying with the idea of adding in another nebula for the brownish ones, but still to find what one :)

Ok, also going to add in B'Tran, normal for those, what I now know as yellows, they look brown to me.

But if you are VA I hope that you will go into the VA version as well, as the purple data samples don't appear in any other sector space other than there. Those are in short supply :(

Well thats the first of many cheesy pop events over and done with! A huge thanks to all who attended.

Lets get to the math, we raised well over 700 data samples with around 20 rares between our participants and some very generous donations! Here is the run down of who came what;

A very special thanks goes to Flounder44 for his more than generous contributions.

These lucky winners will get to request songs for the next event which will be held in 2 weeks time, the 21st of April at 9pm GMT, 4pm EST and 1pm PST. For now... CheesyPop, out!

Attitude=me by the way, but I tend not to use the attitude handle outside of Champions Online/STO as i see it as a bit of a mistake. Oh well.

I had great fun last night and I am no seriously considering being on ventrilo ALL THE TIME.

Am now thinking of making this a weekly event if people are interested? Let me know!

Also hoping to get a USA time zone one started if anyone is willing to take up the challenge that is the Pop of Cheese?

Also, I would like to announce in the light of recent data samples... its going to go weekly! Furthermore, I am still looking for someone in ANY USA timezone to start up their own.

Theres not many requirements and I am willing to help get it set up. The requirements are;

Ability to facilitate an event (not much leading needed).
An appreciation for cheesy pop music, like its UK based counterpart.

Other than that, its up to you what songs you play, when you host it, how often you host it, what rewards are given (if any) and what nebulas people go to. If you are interested, drop me a PM.
