Feedback: Welcome Center Restructure

Since we launched, the Welcome Center has gotten more and more complex, with lots more articles with cryptically named menu items. To cut down on the confusion, I've restructured it to look a lot more like a knowledge base.

Instead of the landing page being my Welcome to the Fleet address, it's now an index of all the Articles in the Welcome Center. Each of the articles are separated into three categories; Guides & Tutorials, Operational Information and Intro to STO. Listed underneath are the articles in each category. Clicking on the names will, of course, take you to the article. Clicking on the Category title will take you to a page listing all the articles in that category including a short intro. Navigation is no longer handled by a menu on the left, instead you can move back and forth using the breadcrumbs above the articles. This frees up screen space and allows and easier reading experience.

Go take a look if you haven't already. (The new landing page already has over 370 views.) Let me know below what you think of it, if you see any issues or bugs that need to be fixed.

PS: We've also added in a few new Articles; Guide to Etiquette on Vent and Guide to Etiquette in Teaming

I tried to read your 'guides to etiquette' and it told me I was not authorized to view that article...

Does that mean that I'm already so awesome the server knows I cannot possibly learn more?

Just one note and it's been a rule we followed in my previous guild(s) in other games...

In Etiquette while Teaming, I would add it's always nice to acknowledge & thank the Team Leader or organiser of any event (even if all didn't go well) as I am sure it would be appreciated.

I know how challenging it can be to put on an event as well as lead it and a little thanks goes a long way, but I am sure must of us would do that anyway :)

I just tried when logged on and had the same problem EBannion did, what browser is he using, i have problems with how firefox uses cookies sometimes.

Did you have any problems accessing any of the other articles?

No just that one article.

I've tried reading both of the Guide to Etiquette's and they work fine. I'm using Chrome on Windows 7.

You know my view on the Welcome Center Nick. It's a great improvement, you've done a really good job :)

I noticed a dead link in one of the other articles:

At the bottom there is a hyperlink for "User Table" that comes with up a 404 error when clicked.

The article works fine for me, although i think Firefox recently updated (this weekend)


I like the welcome center. I've done Infected a few times now and there are a lot of people who could benefit from learning team etiquette.
(Obviously not Fleet members)

I have Firefox 3.6.15 and the only one that it wo'n't let me read is the Ventrilo Etiquette one.

I'm definitely logged in, and it lets me read the rest of the well-organized and informative articles (see what I did there? ;) ) but it wo'n't let me read that one.

Where did the Diplomacy Guide go? Shouldn't that be linked to in the welcome center? Even doing a search for "diplomacy guide" isn't linking me to it.

It comes up when you do the search, it's just really low for some reason, #37.

In other words it's not easily accessible...can you please add it to the Welcome Center or somewhere more prominent? Seems appropriate since it's such a useful resource.
