Cheesy Pop is tonight!!!

Also, I would like to announce in the light of recent data samples... its going to go weekly! Furthermore, I am still looking for someone in ANY USA timezone to start up their own.

Theres not many requirements and I am willing to help get it set up. The requirements are;

Ability to facilitate an event (not much leading needed).
An appreciation for cheesy pop music, like its UK based counterpart.

Other than that, its up to you what songs you play, when you host it, how often you host it, what rewards are given (if any) and what nebulas people go to. If you are interested, drop me a PM.

I'll take a look this afternoon :o)

Would you like me to post feedback in this thread, or send it to you privately via an in-game mail?

I found a couple of traces yesterday by chance. It's not much but I'll donate them next time I'm online since I don't really use them at this point anyway.

Here ya go. Darker blue and less stars.

Don't worry about paying me. If you like, you can donate the credits to the fleet.

"Burning Bridges" - Reviewers Needed

April 21 2011
Hello all. I've just published my first Foundry mission and would like you, my wonderful fleetmates, to officially review it (to help it become public) and offer any feedback you might have on how to improve the mission. I would absolutely appreciate any time you could spare for this.

Title: "Burning Bridges"
Author: Sturnack
Faction: Federation
Level Requirement: 16
Author's Notes: This mission should take around 30-35 minutes to complete.

As this is my first foray into the Foundry, please be kind. :) Thank you again!

I'm not a conspiracy theorist, but I really dislike that. My mates Jan and Tracy like all the theories about the government against us and trying to track us. It kinds scares me, there is even more compelling evidence to this end with things such as the new energy meters purposed around the uk :S

Also, the rare traces that we are in need of most are, in this order: Chronometric, Vertion, and Antithoron.

Next up is Metreon.

As for the rest, we are doing okay on :)

To mail items, you have to go to a Starbase. All most all of the Starbases have mail consoles. I use Starbase 39 mainly because I feel it loads the fastest and there aren't many people there usually.

There are common Data Samples and rare Particle Traces. There are no Very Rare. The ones that we need the most are the Particle Traces, they have a blue rarity border.

I want to donate particle samples, but with my wifi being almost famously sporadic, side trips to stations from my queued missions can be tricky. Is there a way I can send data samples off to you guys without having to travel to ESD etc to do so?

Also, which ones count as the rare and very rare particle traces, so I know which ones to send off?

Thanks
Peace

Crafting Store Closed

April 21 2011
Last night, several of the Admirals and I made the decision to close the Store.

If you go to the Store now, you'll see the message telling you why we decided to do such. We're currently out of many of the Particle Traces. These are the Rare data samples that are only procured by completing the Scanning mini-game.

This brings up an important issue. The Crafting Store runs on donations. We need these donations to make the orders and ship them out. Without the donations, we simply can not keep the Store up and running. We do charge Energy Credits for the items in the Store and we try very hard to keep these prices low and affordable to even beginning players.

If we had to buy all the samples that we need to complete orders, items would be much much more expensive and many, such as the Aegis set, would simply be unattainable by the majority of our member base. As it is, we have spent a large portion of the donations collected from the Store on purchasing samples that are seriously overpriced on the Exchange. We simply can't keep that up. We would run the Fleet broke trying to complete all the orders that come into the Store. While the purpose of the Store isn't specifically to generate funds, it does need to be self-sustaining.

My purpose in telling you this isn't to scare you off from using the Store. I love the Store. I think it's one of the nicest and most unique parts of this fleet; it's not something that most other fleet's have. I want all of you to have the ability to use and order from it. The benefits of the Store are two fold. Firstly, it allows those that need gear to buy it easily and cheaply and those that don't like crafting don't have to bother with it. Secondly, it gives those that do enjoy crafting the opportunity to do so and allows them a way to give back to the fleet. But for this to continue, we need help.

You can help in three ways:
First, when you do order from the Store, don't order Very Rare (purple items) unless you really need them. Very Rare items are four times the price of their Rare counterparts. This is due to their requirement of two or three Rare Particle Traces which truly are rare. By ordering Rare items, you lessen our demand on Rare particle traces and save yourself some dough.
Second, donate. When doing missions, take a few extra seconds, run over to that anomaly, scan it and do the mini-game. Once you have a good sized stack of data samples or particle traces, mail them to us (@bfelczer, @NicholasJohn16, or @Zeryon) and we'll take care of depositing them into the Crafting Corps fleet bank.
Third, come to a Data Samples Gathering Party or Cheesy Pop event. Every month, Admiral Bfelczer runs a Data Samples Gathering Party where you can come, help farm particles, listen to music and have a chance to win up to 1,000,000 Energy Credits. As well, @Spark88 has begun hosting 'Cheesy Pop,' where participants listen to the music their embarrassed to admit they love. Those that donate the most win song requests at the next Cheesy Pop event. Keep an eye on the Events page to see when the next one of these is coming up, such as tomorrow's Cheesy Pop event.
Your help and donations are deeply appreciated.

Finally, I'd just like to point out that the members of the Crafting Corp are volunteers. They volunteer their free time to complete and ship these orders. They don't get anything out of this, other than the satisfaction of giving back to the fleet. Please be kind and polite with Crafting Corp members. We complete orders on a first come, first served basis and they cannot make your order any faster than they already are. If you have any questions, feel free to ask @bfelczer, @NicholasJohn16, or @Zeryon. If you need a refund for an order, please contact us as soon as possible.

We will reopen the Store once we have completed all of our pending orders and have a decent stock pile to fill future orders.

Sincerely,
NicholasJohn16
Fleet Admiral

iOS 4 tracks your every move, backs up with iTunes

April 21 2011
(Invalid video video code)

Two UK researchers have made a shocking discovery. The iOS 4 tracks wherever your phone goes and saves it into an unencrypted database on your phone, then when synced with iTunes, backs it up on your computer. When restoring from a backup or setting up a new phone, the location database is kept and moved onto the new phone. The fact that it's backed up, restored or moved to new phones, makes the researchers believe that it's an intended function, instead of an oversite.

When the originally discovered the file, they thought it'd be a couple days worth of data, just of when they activated the GPS features. They came to discover that it was over a years worth of information, starting from when they switched over to iOS 4.

(Invalid video video code)

The file is completely unprotected and with a little bit of tech knowledge is accessibly on both the phone and the backing up computer, making both giant security risks. I'm sure that Apple will eventually come up some excuse for doing this, but the fact remains, why does Apple need to track where every one of their phones are? Or more importantly, where the humans that use them are at?

Awww how sad. I really enjoyed her appearances on the show (and her own show, or what i've seen of it) and that little extra connection to the past she brought to it.
