@JimCushman: I agree! I have never wanted to belong to a "guild" before, and I have to say I'm quite intrigued by the comradeship here.

@NicholasJohn16: Thank you from me, also. I'm _very_ impressed by your work on this site. First, it makes me want to delve into Joomla. Second, it makes me want to participate. After a probationary period, I would love to assist with any development ideas you may have.

@Jerran: I truly believe we're at the cusp of a new era of MMO where game developers will further engage their guilds by offering APIs for data access. It would probably need to be OAuth driven (i.e. we would give the guild access permission), but I see it coming. It would further drive sales for the gaming industry.

I think it'd be very neat to show off all your characters on your profile. I've been working on up upgrades to our "Character Manager". I'll try working in accolades as well.

While you're on the forums, you can see member's who have earned awards in the fleet beneath their profile like

I would love to be able to adorn my profile with a list of my completed accolades. It might be nice to have that as a "section."

Anyone else think so?

You'd think STO itself would have some way of doing that, knowing that a lot of players probably chat on boards like this. It be cool to just be able to get a snippet of code to use on a forum.

I prefer Bajorans to Vulcans. Much more passionate. Besides, the whole seven years thing sounds too much like straight marriage ;)

Sad news from the TrekMovie twitter account:

Dear Internet: There is NOT a $1.5B Star Trek theme park being built in Jordan. There is a $1.5B theme park being built with a ST attraction

Edit to "Strength From Diversity"

August 09 2011
Just wanted to give a quick heads-up that the most recent post of "Strength from Diversity" just got a major edit (since the board doesn't alert users to edits). So, if you've been following the story as posts go up, I suggest re-reading the most recent post.

There was a miscommunication with regard to the details of a character. While I do take minor liberties with characters in order to make a cohesive story, this divergence was too much for me to let sit alone. It doesn't affect the arc of the story, but it does change some motivations.

Anyway, hopefully I won't have to make too many of these edits again. :D

Abrams isn't attempting social commentary in his style-over-substance body of work. The veneer of Trek he crudely splashed over his movie didn't make it Star Trek to me, so I can't hold him to those higher standards that Roddenberry's Trek inexplicably failed to meet.

I tend to agree. I think the boat sailed on Star Trek and social commentary long ago. We won't get a chance to have a gay character until another series comes out, if ever due to how the waters were soiled by Enterprise. It just doesn't make sense to have it in the movie. And if they do put it in the movie, you know it's just going to be some gratuitous female Vulcan on female Orion sex slave thing.
