Re: What role you gonna play in TOR?

I am starting as a Smuggler Scoundrel I like the idea of kicking an opponent in the nuts and shooting from the hip. The galaxy will learn not to mess with this straight shootin bad ass.

I'm not one for Alts really so this character will be my one true focus. Lets hope he's everything I want him to be. Otherwise I am switching to Gunslinger.

Always been partial to ranged, so Smuggler Gunslinger (like the explosives), Trooper Commando, then Jedi Sage.

I believe I read that since studies show most people like dps, they are making all classes pretty dps-y, and not much dps may be lost by doing healz or tanking classes. I don't know if that is true, but it certainly makes playing the non-dps classes more attractive.

Sex kitten!

What?

What do you mean, wrong game?

Oh! Ohhhh!

Um...

LOL! Seriously, though, I am leaning toward Jedi Consular or Jedi Knight but knowing my proclivity for making alts, I am sure I will eventually wind up with one of each class. :P

I think I'll start with a DPS trooper, though I haven't decided which advanced class I'll go with. I like the BFG the commando has, but the vanguard would be better for survivability in PvP.

What role (tank/heal/dps) you gonna play in TOR?

October 15 2011
So clearly there is a huge popularity to the jedi, but what role (ie. in the advanced class) you going for? (tank, healer, dps)

for me, at this point I think I'm gonna start with a healz smuggler (scoundrel) and a tank jedi consular (shadow), and a dps jedi knight (sentinal). um in that order. I put smuggler first cause everyone and his gay uncle are playing consulars apparently.

This chart may help:

That said, I have yet to encounter a romance arc with any of my (female) companions. I dunno, maybe I'm just not charming enough or don't let my character bathe often enough. >.> "GOD your armour stinks! Wait... is that you?! Oh my GOD! Can you go... I dunno... Irradiate yourself, or something?!"

Oh to funny! Love it. Umm..go clean up now. :silly:

The only problem with them putting it in post launch is that we'll already be well into our companion's stories by then. I wonder how they'll make that work. I guess if anyone can do it its bioware. Maybe they'll give us new gay companions. Just please dont make them like the flaming elf in dragon age :P

I am rather hoping that they will, at some point, allow us to revisit past conversations to (perhaps) make different choices and visit the different voice acting paths. (and they are VERY well written and 99.9% of the time seem to be very well acted. :) )

However, I would LOVE to share with you how I believe it will happen with the post launch romance arcs with companions, but I don't want to break NDA.

Those usually come late in most bioware games. so im thinking its probably well into the gameplay, probably after you get close to maxing out their affection or whatever. i cant remember what its called. I havent played in a couple of months.

I don't totally get the difference between monitors and TVs. Besides that TV have built in receivers, of course. Is the quality of HD tv's as good as you get from monitors these days?

No, my max resolution is 1920 x 1080. Honestly, though, that's enough for me. The higher the resolution, the more I have to adjust the text size to be readable and the weirder it looks to me. Also, even though my tv is "240hz" (240fps) Nvidia seems to say it's restricted to 60hz. Though when I'm in games, I often see my fps jump up over 100. I don't know if that's what the game is attempting to push to the TV, or if that's what the TV is actually receiving. I'm guessing it's the former, though.

I am perfectly happy with my 53" monitor, though; I love playing games from bed. :3

Let me tell you from experience, all the classes are fun to play. well, thats not true. i wasnt all that excited playing imperial agent, but thats just me. i couldnt get into the whole [REDACTED]. The nice thing is that just about every class can fill every role. I think this is going to be a very alt heavy game. Its a good think we'll have guilds for both sides.

Dunno if that info was made available to the GP. :3 But yes, that part is a bit tedious to me, as well. I think it should be an automatic thing and sometimes don't even bother with it. I just let my companion take all the heat / tank for me.

The IRC channel is not completely deserted. I often grace the IRC chatroom with my presence when I'm online. Most of the time I'm by myself but often NicholasJohn himself shows up.

Zepari has been known to show his face now and again, as has Doogiegood and a few others but they're much more seldom.

In any case hang around and I'm sure you'll run into a few of us :)
