Re: Datacron Opinions

January 11 2012
For those of you guild mates on the fence about whether or not to hunt down the carefully hidden datacrons throughout the galaxy I have a few stats that may convince you to join the crusade.

Since I began hunting them down on the various worlds we explore during our stories I have gained quite a bit of additional stats, which are permanent. Currently I am caught up on the datacrons up to and including Hoth. Of those datacrons I have gained:

Aim - 18

Presence - 18

Willpower - 14

Strength - 22

Endurance - 18

Cunning - 22

Not to mention the 7 Matrix shards and all of the exp involved in getting them. I still have a few more to collect but these stats are nothing to dismiss. And from what I have researched there is a lot more Willpower to come in the ones I haven't found. If anyone needs help or jump coaching let me know and I will be happy to help.

Halish,

Zepari recently promoted me to Captain in game so could you please add my character to that list. Xal on KoS.

I am going to be creating an Empire side character tonight and I will post it here as well as message you to promote that character so when I am in game I can help with any issues that arise.

Thank you.

In Zep's post about Captains, he mentioned that they would be replacing Lieutenants:

Quote by Zepari

Job Description:

  • Help with inviting new members and existing member's alt characters to the in-game guilds
  • Help members with their questions about the game, and keeping the chat channels friendly

As you can see, this role would not take a lot of your time and I know quite a few of you have already being doing this in the current "Lieutenant" rank (which is being replaced with the rank of Captain).

So, essentially it's a name change. I don't know why, it's always been beyond me to understand their thinking. :P

Anyways, Zep will be posting soon about actual officer positions. Hopefully sooner rather than later.

I'm sorry if there has been in-game problems and no officer has been around. We are currently in the process of restructuring and hopefully we'll have a leadership team you're happy with.

The officer list you presented is out of date. The current KoS/LoS officers are:

Zepi (KoS) / Zepari (LoS)
DakonKor
Halish

We also have a few Captain's and are Recruiting More, if you're interested in helping.

If you have any problems in game (I'm not sure why people are having problems with members of other guilds?) and nobody is around then sending us a message on KnightsofStonewall.com would be the best idea (screenshots of any bad behaviour would be very helpful).

It's a shame SWTOR doesn't have the same out-of-game chat abilities that STO has. Having officers logged in all the time just isn't feasible :(

I'm sorry for any problems you and the rest of the membership have had.

I don't understand how Republicans can sit there screaming for less government oversight of corporations year after year despite literally centuries of historical evidence showing the abuses by corporations, either against their workers, the environment or our financial system itself. Corporations have one purpose, to make money, and if they have to buy and sell people, they will; they've done it before. The little consumer, worker and personal protections that we have in this country were not thrown up over night because of some Democrat overreaction. Each and every law was created and approved as a response to a particular problem our country faced, but as time goes on and the original problem slips from the public's eye, Republicans swoop in to remove the protections under some guise that it's no longer necessary. As if, it is impossible for that problem to occur again.

This is basically the same reasoning I have when it comes to Universal Healthcare. I don't know why it's acceptable for private business to regulate or be involved with healthcare. For me it poses a really huge conflict of interest:

If your purpose is to make profits as a corporation, how can you provide services to those who are sick or dying without money?

The short answer is, you cannot. As the sole purpose of any corporation is the acquisition of wealth, resources and time dedicated to that end. For those who cannot provide that, aren't entitled to it.

Now, I have a problem with this. To me, medical treatment is a right, not a privledge. As is education and the emergency services (such as police, fire brigade) and to a lesser extent defence (Military, Navy etc).

I, as a Briton, am very happy with the fact its slightly different here, in that we have the NHS (National Health Service), which is universal healthcare or free-at-point of-entry healthcare, whichever terminology you prefer.

Sorry for going off topic, just while reading your point, I recalled how desperately republican pundits began attacking the British NHS in an attempt to undermine Obamas healthcare bill.

I recall they demonised it by calling it "socialist medicine", which while I'm not any American, would assume carries certain connotations (i.e Soviets, USSR, Evil Russia).

Or death councils or whatever, determining who deserves treatment and who can just die.

In a way, it was very LOL. Much like FAUX News. :cheer:

Sounds like an epic idea... some of us are new to the guild and/or just shy so a group event is also great for networking. We can meet and mingle with people our levels and bond together.

I personally tend to stick with people I quest together and keep in touch but I'm hesitant to contact people I've never met in game.

As mentioned here earlier tho, please make in game guild screen notes about this and occasional reminders for us absent minded members. :)

The Democrats shout from the rooftops about freedom of speech, social equality, the end of bullying, etc. Google "Santorum" and check the first result to see just how much they value their own stance about social tolerance. But even if we were to take them at face value about the social issues, they are all about advancing government control over fiscal matters: regulation, increased government programs, punitive taxation, and the list goes on.

Democrats believe in strong personal freedoms and strong regulation of business. Those are too separate tenants and one cannot be applied to the other. Despite what the Supreme Court might say, corporations aren't people and should be held to a different standard.

As if, it is impossible for that problem to occur again.

In the United States a slew of worker protections were started after the Triangle Shirtwaist Factory fire in which 146 people died due the factory managers locking the exists so workers could not leave. As well, it caused unions to start up across the country as workers banded together to bring attention to working conditions and safety concerns, which beforehand would've meant you were just fired and replaced. Now a days, safety protections and unions are under a constant assault into nonexistence. When I point to examples such as this and the laws that were enacted to prevent it from happening again during discussions about government oversight to my more conservative friends they say, "Of course, those protections are needed.", but for every single regulatory law there is an equally heinous tragedy that caused its existence.

Next week . . . my rant on why goverment programs are good.

I personally voted for my suggestion of the NicholasJohn Network. Not only does it not categorise us into any specific box but it also honours our founder and the hard work he has put into and continues to put into the community so that we can make friends and enjoy the games (and more) that we want to enjoy in a completely friendly environment.

I suggested one of those the "NicholasJohn Network" and I also explained the reasoning why.

You say you don't know Nick very well but if you did you'd know he'd never suggest using his name. He'd be too scared his ego is showing and he tries to keep that hidden at all times  :P

As for the current state of the guilds, I think we have to remember that we are less than a month into the life of a game that most people hope will last for years.

We're not exactly falling apart and the little problems we are having will be fixed. I assure you of that.

In my first post underneath Structure, I explain that we're talking about the organization that Stonewall Fleet and Knights of Stonewall belong to. In the second post, the 'NicholasJohn Network' is suggested by Halish. The 'NJSMAGOFAGFGASIOTI' option was suggested here by SeanNewBoy and the appearance of FAG in the acronym is merely a coincidence. It was submitted as a joke and wasn't meant to be taken seriously. 'The NJ Gaming Community' was suggested by nniicc here.

It's in this post, that I mention The Stonewall Family and the Stonewall Gamers Alliance which is a completely separate organization.

To help make the invitation process more clear, we recently finished a guide on the steps to get invited into the guild. Our Welcome Center is a bit sparse at the moment, but that will be filled with time.

We're currently understaffed at the moment in Knights of Stonewall and we know so. To that end, we've begun accepting applications for 'Captains' to help out and we'll be filling more positions soon.

That being said, we do have officers and 'LTs' helping out ingame. Our officers are from different parts of the country and world and play at different times. They may simple play at different times, but they are there.

Thanks for the info, Jon.

So... is there a list somewhere of Officers and Captains, Republic and Empire sides, with a list of their toons? If not, that would be very helpful.

Someone was actually mentioning in gchat that they'd emailed the Personnel Dept. and hadn't had any response. Then what are they to do?

I'm a little confused here... Who/what organization are we talking about?
Knights of Stonewall, Lords of Stonewall, Stonewall Fleet? No one's seemed to make much mention of The Stonewall Family (the WoW Guild) who is supposedly a partner in this 'alliance'...?

Lest we forget, we're gamers, by the way, and it's the games that brought us all together.

Additionally it seems before we start over-extending our reach we need to do a little housekeeping here at home. The invite process seems a bit confused, the leadership structure seems unorganized, and no one besides Doogiegood (on Alliance side, at least) seems to be handling much in-game duties.

Maybe it's the Officer in me (in other guilds, not this one) but as a member it's very confusing around here.

How can we expand outside the bounds of the sub-guilds if those sub-guilds aren't functioning smoothly and efficiently?

Additionally, and no offense to Nick, but I'm a bit saddened to see the three references to Nick in the list of naming options.. I hope those were tongue-in-cheek, but not knowing Nick personally, I just don't know. And the single option that appears to be an acronym that includes "FAG" I just find offensive. (Thankfully no one has given that one a single vote.)

Here we're talking about how we want to be known and perceived outside the walls of our guild, and yet some of these options were presented as valid options/contenders? Is this really how we want to be known?

Sorry, but that wasn't the kind of guild I thought I was signing up for when I joined here. :(

Zepi/Zepari is GM of both guilds. I do know that all members have to follow the Code of Conduct. As far as invites go I know that Captains can do invites.

With issues that arise in the game I know you can speak to an officer about it who exactly is an officer on the republic side I'm not sure. I do know though that personally I am a Captain on both so if no one is on feel free to jump on the Empire side and see if I am on I'm personally more than willing to switch to add a character for someone.

I do know that if you cannot find anyone online worse case you can email leadership to report an issue.

Quote by CodeofConduct
Finally, any member can be removed from the guild without having violated the rules above if they are found to have negatively affected the overall morale of the guild. Such removals will only be in rare, extreme cases. These cases would be decided upon by a majority vote of the officers.

The above Code of Conduct is not exhaustive and Officers may take action to limit any behavior they deem to be disruptive.
If you feel like a member has broken the above Code of Conduct or that they are adversely affecting the morale of the fleet then please contact an Officer as soon as possible, or alternatively contact the Personnel Department in complete confidence at personnel@stonewallfleet.com.

If you are unclear about any part of the Code of Conduct then please ask an Officer for clarification. The consequences of failing to abide by this code can be found in the Member's Handbook.
