So yeah. Those of us rocking Caitians and Ferasans, be they Furry Fandom or otherwise can be aware of these, and anyone getting random ERP flirtations etc might want to be extra cautious. Especiaally if they go inviting you to their ship.

But the main thing when dealing with Goons. Do our best not to play their game or let them twist ours too much. Or they still get kicks from that as well.

Thankfully only an account for any Guild Launch forum. They seem to work across the different kinds.

I created one for a Caitian fleet that had alas fallen apart in the lull going Free To Play.

Essentially they give a few @ handles gained from the SomethingAwful forum. Although do remember that anything listed there could very well be mis-information. Used to create more grief just by existing to trick others:

Really pathetic and sad, on their part, but good to know so that it can be avoided. I usually have everything but fleet chat turned off anyway.

Just saw a forum from STO RolePlayers Fleet giving a warning about planned increases in griefing and fleet thefts by Goonswarm.

Those of you with experience in EVE Online like myself or other old MMOs may well be familiar with the name Goonswarm.

Essentially they are a group who love getting their lulz by griefing others or doing anything possible to break games.
They have a forum post saying they want to target Role Players and "Furries" in STO. Primarilly using disruptive stuff like Fire Extinguishers etc in public areas and baiting people into raging enough that they can be reported.
They are also looking to get access to Fleet Banks and steal from them.

Although these may not directly affect Stonewall the risk of asset theft is clear and I felt worth bringing up.
Might also be worth noting for those of us who like our Caitian or Ferasan. If we see this griefing around Drozana or DS9 etc then we are aware of their aim and hopefully how best to avoid feeding their kind of fun.
They are also looking for anyone who might enjoy their ERP and trying to grief those kinds especially. Upto and including inviting them to a ship only to face a bridge full of Goons who hassle the person who has gone there.

I honestly think Eternal Grove will be back at release... it seems like they are starting with a smaller list for BWE 3 to really stress the system and likely get a mock release day sort of data..

I just hope we don't get scattered in the confusion.. and I to have concerns about Darkhaven.. as mentioned its the reddit server as well as a large number of PvP guilds.. not to mention the name itself will have a certain type of draw to it.. I just think this is going to be one, very over-crowded and two, not a good match..

It's a very good suggestion Lace, my only concern is it has been/is quite difficult to get people to utilize the website and trying to get in touch with anyone that doesn't use the website regularly is next to impossible. I have tried to do it on several occasions with little to no success trying to simply find out their forum names for the guild rosters. Getting those same people to log on "together" and use vent will probably be just as difficult. :dry: I profusely apologize for appearing to "throw the proverbial wet blanket" on your idea because I am totally open to listening to/implementing whatever someone can come up with. We could certainly utilize the MOTD to inform guildies when something like this has been set up. Although, again, while we can post info using the MOTD, getting people to notice what's right in front of their face as they log in is yet another story. :whistle: Been there, done that too....:( Maybe QiqJoe has some thoughts on how we can overcome this issue. I am certainly more than willing to entertain any idea that may work for us. ;)

I know moving is NEVER fun but it sounds like you have something to look forward to like learning about the new country and your new home away from home. We'll hold the fort until you are able to return. Thanks again for letting us know! :)

I have bounced around so many alts and types that names flip and change frequently. Some will reflect their race and things I believe would affect their choices. Pride of Cait. Cait Warrior etc.

Others have taken the inventors or writers approach. USS Arthur C Clarke. USS Iain M Banks. USS Trevor Bayliss and so on.

Less Canon types would flit between stuff like major cities near me. Or simple playful names like the Sao Paulo class USS Phaser Diplomacy.
I really wanted to make some with proper Iain M Banks/Culture style names but they can not be long enough for really good efforts along those lines.

My only real headache is when tinkering on the KDF side. I want the names to seem genuine and not just human or obviously human derived names. But especially for Gorn/Nausicaan and Ferasan there is no real lore or Canon to back those choices so most end up being named via Random engine and what it suggests and seems to fit.

ArenaNet already announced that existing characters would be wiped:

Yeah I understand the concerns.

I'll keep my eye on the other forums and see what the other guilds are doing. We could always pick a different server for ourselves and forget the other LGBT guilds.

That could hurt us though because cooperation between guilds could end up being very important when it comes to completing the large scale Dynamic Events and winning the war in World vs World. Being able to cooperate with other like-minded guilds would hopefully make things smoother.

It seems "Darkhaven" is the GBLT server of choice .

I didn't see anything about what happens to our characters when we log into the game but I'm going to guess we'll be given the choice to transfer them to another server. Guilds seem to work cross-server so we shouldn't have any problems with re-joining the Vanguard or anything like that.

Being honest I'm a little heart broken they've taken our first home away but I'll get over it! Asura and Sylvari woop! :)
