Re: Back up server discussion

I voted for Ferguson's Crossing like Kerstov to start making a pack, but I really do not care where we go for back up, as long as we are together. I'd be just as OK with it if you appoint one server for the guild.

Sweet I will be there!
I think Kerstov has infiltrated ArenaNet - we are probably the first ones to know everything thanks to him. Thanks Kerstov!

I never really ran into this in beta, so I'm not sure, but do they basically lock a server after too many people join or something?

Re: Back up server discussion

I voted yes for a backup (Fergusons Crossing because I think it was a low pop). I don't care which one - seems it would be a good choice to pick a low population server - or pick the same server the other LGBT guilds are using as a backup.

To be "CRYSTAL" clear - first and foremost without any confusion - the goal is to get on Crystal Desert ASAP.

But you know there are some folks that won't be able to join right away and CD has the potential to fill up - for an unknown length of time.

I think pooling the 'latecomers' is important so they can take advantage of a consolidated Guild Influence bank.

1 - Guild Influence accumulates per server and can only be spent on that server.

2 - Guild Upgrades and Boost only apply to the players on the server in which they are built.

If everyone waiting to join Crystal Desert is spreadout on multiple servers - the Guild influence is spreadout and takes longer to accumulate. Suggesting a dedicated 'waiting' server will allow SWVG latecomers to play together AND build influence for them to use while waiting.

Remember - we are not talking about guild mates who CHOOSE not to join Crystal Desert. We are talking about creating a temporary home for those who CANNOT join Crystal Desert right away.

Thanks my 2 copper.

11:00pm would be much much nicer than 2:00am. Otherwise, I'll just be waiting up to reserve a few names, and then not playing til I wake up on Saturday.

Back up server discussion

August 15 2012
With Crystal Desert confirmed as our "home" server, I promised a certain couple of our members that I would open the discussion for a "back up" server so that members who struggle to get onto Crystal Desert can all play on the same server instead of being scattered across multiple worlds.

I have reservations about the idea but I'll let you guys have your feedback before I make a post of my own (so I don't skew any opinions).

Time is against us and I have a feeling that "yes" would beat "no" if I made a simple poll. So instead I have made a server choice with an option for "none".

Please consider picking a server as voting "yes" to having a back-up server and give your full opinion in a reply below.

Thanks,

Halish

Home server confirmed: Crystal Desert

August 15 2012

ArenaNet has announced the launch list of servers for Guild Wars 2.

Because our first choice "Eternal Grove" is missing from the list, the unofficial GBLT server has defaulted to our second choice "Crystal Desert". As such we have decided to stay with out GBLT friends and use this server as our "home" server when the game launches on August 28th (25th for headstart).

I would like to thank all of our members for their feedback and support during the server discussions and also for their patience. It's never nice to have to "stall" a decision but now that we have the official server list we can finally move forward.

Re: Claiming Names

August 15 2012
I've been trying to figure out what order I should claim my names... I want a name for one of my alts that I know will go quickly... the name for my Main may go rather quickly but probably not as fast as the alts..

so do I worry about getting my Mains first, since this is the char I'll spend most my time on..

or try to grab the popular name I want for my alt first..

God I Love Release Day! lol

Time for you to lay off the Jack Daniels!

Eastern Kentucky - Eastern Time Zone - 3 hours difference whenever it starts.
Western Kentucky - Central Time Zone - 2 hours difference whenever it starts.

Headstart is scheduled for 12:00 Midnight PST so that's 2:00 am Central or 3:00 am Eastern

If they launch early you can start spamming your login at 11:00 pm Central or 12:00 midnight Eastern :)

Ok I've gone ahead and confirmed Crystal Desert since it seems we're all in agreement here.

I will be posting up a thread when I get home from work tonight for us to discuss the "back up" server option.

Re: Mike Ferguson speaks on Server Lists

I prefer a less 'hardcore' server. I'm worried about the server being full very quicly and i'm worried about not being good enough to play WvWvW because we will be competing against the best servers. If we pick a 'smaller' server, then i'd be worried about the server being dead after a few months. Most important to me though, is sticking together with the other gay guilds.

The leader of Gayme 0n has announced that Gayme 0n and Rough Trade have already decided on Crystal Desert. There is also a poll on gaygamer.net in which the majority votes for Crystal Desert, although only 21 people voted yet. So i think we should follow them to Crystal Desert.

Gayme 0n and Rough Trade are planning a secondary back up server. We should probably look into this too. Just in case the server is completely full before all stonewallers have joined.

Re: Guild Advertisement During Stress Tests

August 15 2012
Quote by Halish
Spam advertising in-game is not a good thing and to be honest I think it's a dying practice and we should actively avoid taking part in it.

This form of guild recruitment can attract unwanted anti-gblt attacks or prompt the inevitably "Why do you need a GBLT guild, couldn't you just not talk about it in a normal guild?" type of conversation.

People "should" actively research and pick a guild suitable for them and not just wait until they see a random guild spam and go with them because they have a cool name (or whatever else criteria you could get from a 200 character message). This is the entire reason why most MMO's have guild recruitment forums rather than in-game guild search mechanics.

I have yet to see any guild advertising in game and long may it continue. :)

Any form of recruitment including forums will always bring in people who troll. It is completely inevitable in my opinion.

But if the guild is large enough to the point it doesn't need to advertise, I can agree with you on the spamming.
