Re: Profession Selection

Well besides Hijacking the thread to say im comming back in full time ^.^ I also would say we have almost the same line up. Instead of a thief I have a warrior though. Take all you notions about a standard warrior and throw em out the window. They can use almost every weapon. The banners and shouts have great buffs. They do amazing damage. Also...get this, if specced for healing. Thier shouts heal on low cooldowns and it heals for a lot. At 80 I was healing 1.5k per shout/20second cd. The same trait that raises toughness also raises healing. Vit raises Boons so you become a walking healing Turtle. Mind you I was still doing great dmg. Took 3 or more people to kill me in pvp cuz of all the healing and dmg mitigation.

Down side time now. They dont have much of a mystical feel which I like. When you are used to strat and finesse with mes or ele, the bare bones easy style of the warrior can cause reptition. Warrior is kinda like easy mode. Thats why I took mine healing. To be diffrent.

Gaurdian, oh what to say about you. Basically a mystical warrior. Less weapons, but they get awesome summons. I dont like a lot of the mid/long range on them though. Moves kinda slow. The elite book skill on them is amazing for long range. Also comes with a long cooldown too. Unless you spec for shorter cool downs.

I never really got into engineer. First time I played one, I found I hated the first few bundles and gave up. I hear they get much better and with jump shot on the rifle they can cheese thru all the jumping puzzles. Ill Let a experienced engi answer on all that though. ^.^

What you purchase when you buy a guild piece of armour or weapon is a "skin". So when you try to use it you get a transmutation window to apply that skin to another item.

Should you wish to then upgrade that item (if a better one drops) then you simply need to use a Transmutation stone to transfer the guild emblem skin onto the new piece of armour. So as long as you have lots of stones (you get them for completing zones or can buy them of the Gem Store) then you need not worry about "wasting" it on a low level item.

As for the window being red, I can only think of two reasons this would happen. First being that the piece of armor you're trying to Transmutate is of a higher level than your character currently is (I'm nearly 100% sure you have to be the right level to do it) or it's not the correct armour type for yourself.

You'd have to buy two guild pistols to have them both show the emblem, as there is no way to copy an item skin without losing the original item.

Hope this helps,

Halish

Profession Selection

September 28 2012
Hey everyone, I hope this finds you well.

I was wondering if you guys could give me a more in depth run down of the pros and cons to the professions. I've been wanting to fill my roster of character slots with them but I'm having difficulty deciding my last one.

I currently have a Ranger (Eric L) an Elementalist (Liam L) a Mesmer (Lucien L) and a Thief (Evan L)
and so I was looking at the other professions to choose for my fifth and final character. I was looking at a Necromancer because I kind of liked how they played in GW, I'm just not sure how there game play has changed.

I was also looking at trying the Guardian or Engineer but I'm not sure how the Guardian is different from the Warrior (aside from the ability to buff allies) and I know nothing of the Engineer except for the turrets.

Can anyone give me some information that might help? I would google the information that I'm looking for, but unfortunately the testimony would be stale and stagnant and would quite possibly like the conviction and passion of someone who has actually played the professions. Plus the pros and cons can be pretty sterile so if you can give me your opinions I would greatly appreciate it. Anything can help.

Thanks!

a most excellent resource that we can all refer members to .. when the @handle may be in a different fleet and not show up on the roster for a fleet in question.

No Way to recombine the guilds on the server

September 27 2012
Customer service FINALLY responded to my open ticket regarding the feasibility of recombining the guilds into one for each faction. Just as I suspected :pinch:, they said there was no way for them to do that (color me SO surprised ) so we will have to re-invite the remaining members (that wish to rejoin us) into the re-formed guilds on the server. I checked the activity logs of both guilds and found that only 2 players from each guild had remained active so this will not be as difficult a task as I first thought :woohoo:. The remainder of the members haven't logged onto their toons in over 140+ days. Therefore, I sent a game mail to each of the toons that were still active, apprizing them of the situation and what they needed to do if they wished to rejoin their guildmates in the re-formed Knights and Lords of Stonewall guilds.

Captains, I would appreciate it if you would be extra watchful (as you usually are) when you are playing for any re-invite requests from these members. I also told them to send me a game mail if they have any difficulty finding someone on that can invite when they are playing. Neither of these members are active on the website, unfortunately, otherwise I would have also recommended they post a reply to our stickied thread "X Needs an Invite" in this same forum section. As always, please let me know if you have any questions and I will do my best to answer them. :)

Re: Social Network Presence

I agree we should keep all the groups together if for nothing else but simplicity. I read all the new posts on the site in an attempt to keep up with all the different group happenings. The only problem is I will have to learn how to use all these different networks. I refuse to use Facebook but maybe my wife will let me use her account to follow Stonewall postings. I've just never seen a use for Twitter. Yes I am one of those people without a social network and I can still function!

I agree that the unified format is the best course to take. I don't mind getting feeds from any of the sister guilds I'm not a part of.

Ok, I went and bought one of each, one guild armor and one guild weapon (the pistol). I double clicked each and both opened a transmutation window. Now, I'm confused as far as what to put in them and when.

The guild-thing says you can only do this once, so I cancelled for fear that I was putting too low a level item in there and should wait until I get my 80 pieces or not?

I dragged one of my pistols to the weapon one and the window was green, so that would have taken but I cancelled that one also for the same reason.

However, the guild armor one I bought...each time I tried to drag and drop one of my armor pieces to the trans window the window was red...meaning it wouldn't accept it.

I duel-wield pistols so do I have to buy two guild weapon pistol things for our crest to show up on both or will one cover the set?

Now, I have a headache!

LOL

Could someone please explain how this all works.....

:) Please don't lock down the vast majority of the bank space to accommodate the rare low level need, when at word-one anyone of us would help them with equipment donations anyway.

Just a thought. :)

I'm also happy to use my higher-level crafting capabilities to craft the best level appropriate stuff I can for other guildies, which doesn't take up any bank space at all and since mats are shared on an account I almost always have a usable amount in my own bank anyway.

New Welcome Center Doc: Fleet Departments

September 26 2012
Hey everyone

Lately, there's been a lot of confusion about how someone becomes a Fleet Captain, what departments we have and who's in what position. To help answer all of those questions, the Admirals have created a new page in the Welcome Center called Fleet Departments.

Take a look and let us know if there's anyway we can improve it! Thanks!!

Most certainly...agreed!

I only took out a small stack of food (that I actually will use) and that freed up a spot...the other low-level stuff I mentioned I didn't touch and just saved my upcoming deposits, which is why I came on here and posted this.

You may want to rethink this Halish....there is an abundance of low level stuff that is already available by just leveling. This game is not made the same way as other games where your main has to support or feed your alts, alts can very easily get there own stuff. Heck, most people picked up what they wanted or needed from guild-chat-give-aways. Guild-chat-give-aways: filled an immediate need for the person who spoke up and said I need or could use it and then it was mailed...all the give-aways I've seen in guild chat is impressive...no stingy people here, the abundance and generosity of free stuff in guild chat...almost makes the guild bank obsolete.

:) Please don't lock down the vast majority of the bank space to accommodate the rare low level need, when at word-one anyone of us would help them with equipment donations anyway.

Just a thought. :)

actually that is a good point also, I hesitate to put stuff IN the bank because I don't want to put stuff that will just clutter and I don't know what good stuff to put is. My highest level toon is 31, so I haven't gotten much great stuff...

Where is the emblem going to be on our characters?

You need to buy armour or weapons from the guild armourer or guild weaponsmith. I'm not sure if they have a preview function. When you go in the mists to the PvP starting area, you're character is wearing a coat with the guild emblem on your back.

hi, since y'all mentioned this, I haven't taken a single thing from the guild banks because, I don't know, guilt or something (like i shouldn't be taking stuff, yeah I have issues).

I feel uneasy too, about taking things out. I've taken out a few dyes and a helmet. Each time i put something back in (a green i got from the mystic forge, a few weapons i crafted). The things i put in, are still there. I guess, if we can use something, we should take it and put something else in. We probably need some rules too: no blues, no looted greens, ...

Anyway, I'm not really sure what the general criteria is for what we can/should/etc take. I didn't see any guidelines in the member handbook, only a warning not to overdue it, etc. Some clarity in this would be appreciated. :)

apologies if I missed something in the membership guide...

I plan to discuss the guild banks with my majors/commanders this weekend.

I did some organising just this morning to free up a little room but if you must take something out then depositing the money back into the bank is a must (it's wrong to profit directly from peoples donations).

I don't like the idea of excluding low-level items simply because we aren't all high level and any new members joining should be able to at least have a chance of acquiring something useful from our bank.

But like I say, we'll be discussing this over the weekend will post up a out-line banking procedure.

Guild Bank and clearing out the junk...

September 25 2012
Looking at the guild roster...we are all up there in levels now and if someone is on (very low level) it's more than likely an alt.

If I may suggest: set a deposit level limit of say 60+ and sell off any items that haven't been withdrawn and deposit the $ back to the guild bank...

I hate having to withdraw a junk-item just to free up a spot to put something more valuable there. :side:
