Re: The usual STF Deflector-Engine-Shield Question

didn't see it, but I didn't go much more than three pages back, since the dates went before the s06 overhauls.

question was "any experience with any of those combos"?

The usual STF Deflector-Engine-Shield Question

October 06 2012
Up front: yes, I know there's things in here that need updating from w/e to mk xi or xii. I ain't rich yet (if I were, there'd be another klingon timeship).

Captain: Engineer
Ship: Armitage Heavy Escort (Patrol Escort with minions, stat-wise)
Fore:
PolDis Dual Cannon XII [critD][critH]
Dis Dual Cannon XII [critD][dmg]
Dis Dual Cannon XII [acc][dmg]
Photon Torp XII [critD][critH][borg]

aft: (all need scaling up as I get protos)
Dis Turret XI [acc][crith][borg]
PolDis Turret XI [acc][critd]
Quantum Torp XI [critd][crith][borg] (will become Photon XII next proto)

Devices: Subspace Field Mod, Deuterium Surplus
Eng: Neutronium XI, Borg, Isometric Charge (swarm killing, may replace)
Sci: Emitter Array IX (I know), Photon Torp Point Defense
Tac: Disruptor Coil XI x4 (-1, +1 photon torp eventually?)

Hangar: flying monkeys du jour - usually runabouts, sometimes peregrines

BOFFs
Tac: THY1 / TT2 / CRF2 / CSV3
Tac: TT1 / APB1
Tac: TS1
Eng: EPtS1 / AuxBat1 / AuxSIF2
Sci: TSS1 / HE2

So. Toys wot I got currently:
Deflector: Aegis, Borg
Engine: Aegis, Borg, MACO
Shield: Aegis, (Borg,) MACO

I've been running full Aegis because taking less damage is sexy, and I'm a fan of having all the shielding. But "conventional wisdom" lately is Borgx3 + MACO shield for all ships, all the time. (I do not like the Borg shield. Paper seems to have a higher strength. I'm willing to listen to counterarguments.) (And if we're being completely petty, I like the visuals on the MACO Engines.) Obviously, I can't alpha strike like a tac (or a sci with abilities up), so I tend towards sustaining as high as I can. And this is strictly pvp.

So my options seem to be (D-E-S):
  • Aegis x3 (current setup)
  • Aegis Borg Aegis (stat difference between the engines is negligible. This would be: -reactive shielding, +shield regen.)
  • Borg Borg Aegis (more raw shield than MACO, but more shield damage taken.)
  • Borg Borg MACO (hull regen, shield regen)
  • Borg MACO MACO (-shield regen, +power recharge and insulators)

Thoughts about the mythical day when I see MACO Deflector is also appreciated. Or Omega - pretty shield, break-even deflector, unimpressive engine...is Tetryon Glider even a useful amount?

:)

My first KDF toon has Pat'sy and E'dina on his bridge roster. Although I did make them TOS generation Klingons. (All of the Klingons on my bridge are TOS Klingons (Read: Aliens). And Gorn. And Letheans. :p)

I just wanted to say thank you to whomever donated the dye, called "Brick" to the guild vault. I almost fainted when I saw it in there. My real last name is Brick....lol I donated some runes for the dye and have used this color to offset our wonderful crest/emblem. I couldn't resist taking a snapshot of ours vs another person's crest...theirs is nice...

...but ours is WOW!

Very cool! :)

Passing thought to bring up: for those of us not happy without our swarm of flying monkeys, would we be able to swap a hangar req for one of the eight weapon reqs (once the fleet hits Science V, of course)?

I still watch this show. I have all the episodes on DVD and regularly have marathon watching sessions (great as hangover medicine) They produced a brand new special and are making another episode!

I don't beleive anyone watches that anymore.

Well if it's in syndication on Logo then ostensibly some people still do. Plus those that know the show will still get the reference. ;)

So I was playing STO and watching AbFab and I thought what if Jennifer Saunders and Joanna Lumley were originally cast as the Duras sisters and couldn't stop laughing for 10 minutes.

May I present B'Eddy and Pasty'Tagh!

Website functionality?

October 05 2012
Hey all!
Just wanted to note that a lot of the functionality is missing (adding your characters to profile, seeing the "new recruits" list or officers list, etc. For a lot of things, it simply says "since GW2 is still in beta...." which would be fine but we are LONG since beta.

Thanks,

Ash

ALERT: Enemy patrols detected, dropping from warp.

October 05 2012
The ship has approached the fortified border, but this whole region is being heavily patrolled both by a high number of regular Klingon ships and what must be modified salvager ships. The Sally Ride detected heavy sensor sweeps and has dropped from warp well out of range until the bridge crew can decide on a plan to get past the patrols.

It totally is 10. 3 4 and 5 are the neat pythagorean theorem numbers. Math is one thing; shortcuts are quite another.

I open a wormhole in front of each ship so they end up back at the starting point, thus since they are occupying the same space they rip open the space time continuum thus destroying the multiverse. Math has now killed an infinite number of people.

two starships depart earth in exactly opposite paths. each travels 3 light years, makes a 90 degree left turn and travels for 4 light years...how far apart are they at this point?

Re: No Way to recombine the guilds on the server

Not at problem at all, Sthiss. I expect that quite a few members are doing just that. When you do decide to return, you can also send me a private message via the website or post a reply to the thread I mentioned in the first post to get an invite. It will be good to have old members back in the group again! :)

Re: Stonewall Recipe Exchange Thread

October 04 2012
I stumbled upon a great recipe for a lemon drop martini. Oh and if you're not of legal drinking age, file this away for when you are as I, in no way, shape or form advocate under-age drinking. ;)

Start with one part vodka; Ketel One or Ciroc will do. The smoother the better.

One part fresh-squeezed lemon juice or lemonade if you like it sweeter.

Two tablespoons of lemon curd.

For the lemon curd you may want to soften it up a bit first so that it blends easily once shaken otherwise it tends to clump. You can warm it over low heat in a small skillet then pour it along with all the other ingredients into a martini shaker with a good amount of ice.
Then shake it like your inertial dampeners have gone offline while traveling through the Delta Quadrant terminus of the Barzan wormhole with Troi at the helm and pour it into a chilled class. The lemon curd gives an excellent frothiness and the perfect balance between sweet and tart.

Cheers Fleetie Darlings!

Re: City of Heroes is Shutting down

This was my first game as well, and it will always be the nearest and dearest to me. I eventually leveled 25 charaters to lvl 50. I was there from issue 7 (Destiny Manifest) on. It makes me happy to see the outpouring of emotion from fellow players, and I have made some incredible friends in COH/COV that I still know to this day. I will always cherish the memories.
