It was a good special, but I didn't quite get it. How can Clara die twice? Hopefully, they'll explain that bit later on.

Steam is a very bad habit for me lol, all these to-die-for games for cheap and my IRL social life goes out the window. My one complaint is that you require an internet connection to play the games you buy. Sometimes I like having good old fashioned, non-MMO PC games on my laptop so that I can play something even when there's no WiFi and steam doesn't really let you do that.

Yes, that really annoys me too. One day the internet was out where I live so I decided just to sit down and play some DAO, but Steam wouldn't let me. :( I was not a happy boy. They have an Offline mode, but you have to go online first to enable it!

I really liked this episode. I thought the main story was pretty good, but it really shone in character interaction. Matt Smith's Doctor is at his best when he and his companions are allowed to be ridiculous. I about died laughing during the whole exchange when the household met the Doctor and Madame Vastra's crew.

I also really liked how the Clara was positioned as a Mary Poppins character against the Doctor's Sherlock Holmes. It made for really enjoyable banter as well as demonstration of Clara's character.

Re: Neverwinter

December 27 2012
I spent last night reading a few articles and watching some videos of Neverwinter...

..

Is it wrong that I'm now actually quite excited about it? Certainly I think it'll be a lot of fun to level through (just like STO was) and I watched a video walk-through of the Foundry and the interior level editor looked really nice.

Was also glad to see that the chat box has a place in the Neverwinter Foundry. I hated being cut off from the guild just because I'm crafting missions.

As long as the combat is fun then I think Neverwinter will be a success. Apparently if you buy the February edition of PC Gamer you get a free mount (a black or white horse) at launch, which is awesome.

Edit: Here is the foundry walk-through if you're interested:

Re: Fractal Dungeon Runs

Had a great time running lvl 2 fractal today with Roo, Psi and Dai. We did pretty good and got over an obstacle of doing the last fractal with 4 players because one left :( After the fractal run, we headed over to LA and did a little striptease and then ventured off to do some jump puzzles. Great time! We need to get together like that daily! :cheer:

Re: You may want to never use Vent again....

December 27 2012
I'd be up for testing it out. I should be online most of the weekend, especially early morning EST. Never really had a use before it now since my SG in CoH hated the idea of voice chatting.

But I do agree if you got something working why change. Just a fun new toy to play with hehe.

Oooo... new and shiny!!

I downloaded the client and gave it a bit of a test drive. Essentially, what this system boasts, is positional in-game voice chat, and the ability to voice morph. An added benefit is an in-game overlay, to show which user is chatting and when (very, very awesome!)

The pros and cons that I can see with just my preliminary testing are as follows:

PROS:
  • Spify new client
  • Setup was a breeze
  • Online voice chat friends lists
  • Create an online voice-chat profile, complete with picture!
  • Voice morphing
  • In game-overlay (my personal fave!!)
  • Appears to be a free service (might this change?)

CONS:
  • The positional voice-chat isn't yet supported by STO, GW2, or TOR
  • Each user can create a maximum of five, permanent channels
  • The Stonewall website currently has an integrated list that shows online voice chat users. This wouldn't work with SONY'S service at this time
  • You need to use Sony's servers (you can't run a server on your own computer. This raises potential server reliability concerns, and we'd have to abide with SONY'S terms of service
  • You have to register as a SONY user

As I had nobody else to test this with, the sound quality is an unknown, though they boast that it's supposed to be quite good.

Personally, I think it's a really cool new voice chat client, and would love to be able to use some of those new features! That being said, I recognize that there's really no need for us to switch, as vent is adequate for our purposes, but it might be cool to give this some consideration!

Thanks for sharing, Shadow!

Do I need to watch the first half of season 7 before I watch this year's Christmas special?? :(

Not really, just watch two episodes:

Asylum Of The Daleks (1st episode of the season) to understand more about Clara, the new companion.

and

The Angles Take Manhattan (to understand why The Doctor is the way he is at the beginning of the Christmas special.

Really really good episode though, love the new companion and the mystery that surrounds her. I squeeee'd with delight all the way through.

I've got a level 50 Republic side, Odioshi and I haven't started the run for HK-51 yet either. I didn't think I would ever try it because of the heroics you have to run. Let me know when you usually play or plan on playing next and I'll join you! :cheer:

Re: Fractal Dungeon Runs

No problem there... We all start somewhere. Some people have yet to try Fractals and I have no problem guiding them on their first run. Hopefully we can get the new fractal runners started and caught up so we can continue to push forward.
