Aww... that sucks Gravitos. :( I did it four times now, two times with fleeties and two times in a PUG, but the beast went down pretty easily in all of them. But if everybody just warps out and leaves you there... that's bad.

*Here, have a cookie to make you feel better* :)

I've been meaning to play Mass Effect for some time. The big problem is that my TV is very small, and playing PS3 games on it is very rough because they're not optimized for an old CRT. I'll get a new TV whenever my ship comes in...

Tried it with a PUG before I went to work today.. UTTER DISASTER! Got it down to 20% and everyone freaked out when the next wave of Tholians appeared. They died and then quit. ugh!

I think this is a bit too easy now....Im expecting it to toughen up when the powers that be realise. PUGs have reported no problems so get in while you can.

That said it is FUN now...not the nightmare it was before

Hey, everyone! I figured I'd post here to say hey and hopefully meet new people.

I'm Adrien, and I live in New York City. I used to teach ESL in Japan, but after my last contract ended I returned home. I've been looking for work for several months, but so far nothing has panned out. I have a feeling this might change soon, but I don't want to go counting chickens before they hatch.

I'm in the process of going back to school to study Speech-Language Pathology. I'm most interested in speech disorders in bilinguals as well as transgender voice therapy. I'm really looking forward to starting school again this summer!

I don't have a lot of MMO experience. I played FFXI for about a month or two when it first came out. I have so far resisted my best friend's pleas to play WoW with her. I love Trek, so when I found myself jobless I figured I'd give STO a shot. It's been a lot of fun so far!

Most of my gaming experience has been with single-player RPGs like the Persona series, the Ultima series, and Planescape: Torment. I also enjoy forum-based and IM-based roleplaying. I used to LARP back in undergrad, and I've played a few pen-and-paper games but never had many good experiences with them.

Finally, I use gender-neutral pronouns (they/them/their) as I'm genderqueer.

Story is better on the imp side, best 2 are considered agent and inquisitor. As for single advancement, trooper/hunter knight/warrior are easiest. More fleets tend to play Republic.

I started an Imperial Inquisitor named Dravind.

Imp does have the better story lines. I've only got 2 Republic characters and 4 Imp characters all around lvl 40.

So I bought the expansion a few minutes ago and decided I'd better try it out again. I think I may delete my current toons and start fresh. Current toons are only level 11's and a few 2 or 3's.

Can anyone suggest which faction to play? I have played both in the past but want to settle on one going forward.

Also what about classes? Is any one class better at leveling So-Lo? It seems since I will be such a noob in the game that I will be solo for some time.

Re: The end of gay.com

This is a sad day! I, too, enjoyed much of what the site gay.com used to offer. I hadn't logged on in some time and was shocked to see that it was not what it used to be!

I loved the idea that I could go to other states and talk with people that just wanted to talk as if I were not in the state, and they were aware of this, the chat would indeed be based on no other premises but the conversation itself!

Gay.com helped me to come out, too. I didn't know anything and was able to meet with people who to this day are some of my best friends. I started using gay.com in the late 90's.

I also know how important the site was for people dealing with specific issues to discuss them with others in specific chat rooms.

I will miss gay.com and what it used to be and what it did for me.

Hmm hadn't noticed but then since becoming a multi-millionaire with my Consular by selling cartel market items... I guess money isn't an issue for me

The interplanetary transport fees were changed from being distance-based to level-based. Makes sense, I always thought it strange that travelling to another planet, in a spaceship, was way way way cheaper than catching a taxi on the ground to go from point to point.

One of the main reasons I'm getting it is for the 2 player aspect.

STO will be taking a back seat until I beat it and get most achievements. ;)

When Traull and I were in London this last October for the Star Trek con, they had an exhibit there, where they were showing a 15 minute gameplay trailer in 3D and it looked awesome! :D

It's very much a first person shooter kind of game, as opposed to an RPG from what I saw, but you and another player work in tandem, as Kirk and Spock to combat enemies and to solve puzzles, with both characters bringing unique abilities to the table.

I'll be buying it, but it'll very much be a game that I play casually on a console as a FPS, as opposed to something I play a little more seriously, like STO.

I think most people will probably enjoy it, if they also enjoy FPS style games :)

LMAO! Great commercial!

I've preordered it. I've only watched a youtube vid or 2. Hoping for the best because it does look good. Sadly, I thought the same thing w/ BL2. Like previously mentioned, not sure what they were going for with the Gorn.

It's so easy now tuvak. Kill some Tholians and pound away at the CE.
I did it today for the first time since the revamp.
Easy peasy lemon squeezy. ;)

Hey all,

I'm Robert or you can just me Fish/Fishy. Just joined recently along with my best mate, Cj. We game everyday, either on the pc or 360. How he puts up with me everyday, I'll never now. All I can say is, "He likes me, he really likes me." lol

I just turned 33 yesterday. Bleh...I've skipped my bday the past 2 yrs. now, so technically I guess that means I'm still 31. I should of started skipping it at 25. ;) Hmm, I had a kidney transplant. It will be 2 yrs on Oct. 18. Love my mom. Best gift ever. I don't mind talking about it or Dialysis. I'm on open book when it comes to that topic. I've dealt with kidney failure all my life. So ask away, pm, friend request - love to chat and make new friends. One of these days I'll find my way onto Vent.

I have a kitten named Sigyn. She's a right lil monster.

After being in Mattachine and realizing it was the wrong fleet for me in many ways, I left along with a few other members. We started a new fleet but that didn't turn out too well. So Cj and I left and made our own fleet. Basically what he said, "to get away from random invites and for storage."

Welcome CJ, I'm sorry to hear you had a bad experience in your old Fleet. I'm sure you'll find us a pretty friendly bunch with a collective penchant for hilarious shenanigans.

Having only rounded the big Three-Oh bend myself last September I can tell you it's not so bad.

Re: Federation meta question: carrier fodder

I'd say you can definitely write it as that the fighters are manned by AI or even controlled remotely by personnel on the mother ship.

On Voyager, it was established that ships as advanced as the Prometheus class could be manned with only a few people thanks to advancements in computer AI. It seems likely that, more than 30 years later, Starfleet would have the ability to load shuttlecraft with non-sentient AI or control a large number of them from a starship.
