This Thanksgiving I will be very thankful that we only have to wait less than a month for our next Doctor fix. BBC has released the teaser poster for the upcoming Xmas special with a few details about the premise. This will be dear Matt Smith's swan song and our introduction to Mr. Capaldi as the 12th (13th if you wanna get technical) Doctor.

I wanted the laurels of the Starfleet logo to be gold, but it wouldn't let me change it, so then I wanted it to be pink, but I got the same issue. In the end I came up with this.

Base Shape: Circular Patch - Dark
Background: Faction - Starfleet 2
Foreground: Faction - Romulan

I'll totally be getting this when it comes out!

Having been a Mortal Kombat and Soul Calibur fan as far back as I can remember, I'd always played the characters that I could identify with the most... namely, Johnny Cage or Kilik, but of course, they were always purported to be "straight" in their back-story.

This will be great fun, and not without it's comical side... it'll be a terrific game to play with friends, and I for one am totally pumped for this... thanks for sharing, lol.

Although, I tend to agree with Jacien that the gay-geek character is strangely absent.

I'll choose to go ahead and be amused rather than offended, all those stereotypes exist for a reason and we all know it. But how dare they leave out the "Gay Nerd" or "Gerd." ;) We are legion and our character would pwne all of them!

I agree with you when it comes to Enterprise, mainly because I think they learned the wrong lessons from DS9 and Voyager. I felt that DS9 was about maintaining the light of civilization in times of peril and darkness. I also thought Voyager was about integrity and personal morality in the face of despair. Now if only the Walking Dead survivors could show a little more Janeway and a little less Ceska.

The only question i have for those who made this:

Dystopian is the new thing in sci-fi. There are several authors trying to buck the trend, but the... masses want more dark future. I suppose it isn't a stretch of the imagination to come up with a reason why; budget cuts for NASA, scientists and education, space shuttle mothballed and replaced with pre-shuttle style capsules, Honey Boo Boo...

Our future isn't really looking all that bright, so people want a darker future sci-fi to mesh more seamlessly with our impending dark future?

Personally I would like more optimistic sci-fi.

That's how it's been for a while with Star Trek, though. What was DS9? We'll throw a bunch of folks into the middle of several conflicts and we'll make it dark. What was Voyager? We'll take away the Federation entirely and put the crew in an impossible situation and make it dark. What was Enterprise? We'll take everything to where it began, but they have like no technology at all and they'll always be in the middle of horrible things--hey, we'll even blow up Earth!--and we'll make it dark.

If you look at the arts overall these days, we're in a period of mannerism, a period of derivation and copying. We're not going to see anything bold or fresh for a while yet. Which sucks if you're an artist working right now.

I've been shepherding people across from Vent tonight onto TS3 and helping them get all set up :)

TS3 = Amazing!!!!

Loving it. I can't get the overlay to work properly though, even some of the the other overlay plugins are problematic. Not a big deal though the voice clarity is amazing! Very easy set up for those who are not so adept at VoIP software.
