Guild Emblem Impromptu Design contest (kind of)!

I have unlocked the Guild Emblem option and have given you all permission to go and edit it. If you come up with a design you like then please feel free to screenshot it and upload it and (maybe after the next beta, since we don't have much time left) we can start a bit of a vote :)

If you go to Divinity's Reach (probably the other cities too but I don't know them) and find the Guild Registrar NPC he'll have the option to edit it (he's just by the Ministers waypoint).

Don't worry about accidentally saving it, it's not important since it's beta and it doesn't seem to cost anything to change it.

Not meaning to get too in depth with the decision - but should there be a correlation between the image and what Stonewall Vanguard represents? Or do we just choose based on cool emblems?

I'm not opposed to either - but lean towards the emblem having a meaning to some degree.

With that said I ask those with more history in the Stonewall guilds - what does it mean to you?

"Stonewall" has it's meanings and history - but what about "Vanguard"?

Here are some definitions...

1. from Old French avant-garde, from avant- fore- + garde guard
2. the leading division or units of a military force
3. the leading position in any movement or field, or the people who occupy such a position: the vanguard of modern literature

And historical/cultural references: (there are better references I'm sure)
1. HMS Vanguard - any of several ships in the British navy
2. Star Trek: Vanguard, a series of novels about a space station called Vanguard
3. Vanguard, a character class in the Mass Effect series

Is there a symbol that's more appropriate? Is there an animal that represents better than others? Dragon, Phoenix, Unicorn? lol

A lot of pink, because it's the gay colour. Somehow the unicorn seems very gay to me too. The clenched fist because of 'strength in diversity'. Swords in front of a brick wall, feels like stonewall vanguard to me.

Nice, nniicc! all of these are really good.. particularly the top unicorn and all the hands with arrows.
If when we kill somebody in wvw, and our standard is shown, i think we need something that really sticks out, and these colors seem to do the trick.

My favourite of yours nniicc is the last one and it's probably because it's the least pink lol.

I don't know there's something about using too much pink or purple in a GBLT logo that has the opposite effect for me. I prefer to stay with blues or reds as I feel they're nicer on the eyes.

It really is not just finding something that looks good but a balance between finding something that looks good but is also some-what unique to us. I had no idea our Emblem flashed up when you kill someone in WvW, that's an awesome feature.

A rank 80 structured PvP player will have a unique downed status as well.


However, when you are being killed you do not see the flag, since a giant dialog box pops up showing you what did the most damage. It's only the people around you that sees the logo.

I completely agree with you that it shouldn't be pink or something like that.

I completely agree, not soo pink but should still stand out.

I don't think we should rule out using pink completely (I love creativeness even if it's not to my particular tastes) but I think pinks and purples are a "less is more" kind of colour lol. Maybe offset it with white.

I wish there was an out-of-game logo designer we could mess around with, I don't want to wait till launch lol

Obviously there might be more options at launch.. but as is we can have up to three colors. The primary image can have two colors, and the background image is one color.

I hadn't seen that site yet. Nicely done. Although the results are different than the ones ingame.

Seems like there will be plenty of time to play with the ingame editor and come up with a decision. We have to spend influence on Politics, the Guild Emblem, then after that - Guild Armor and Guild Weapons in order to display it (from what I've read). Not sure if you have to spend influence for it to show in WvW/PvP.

I've seen photos of where the emblems show up and I'm not sure I'm sold on wearing one now if it looks like a bib lol. Let's not look like we are going to all you can eat night at the Crab Shack :)

lol I'm sure they'll offer an option to hide it outside of PvP like they did in the original Guild Wars if anyone doesn't like the final decision. :) As sure as I am that there will be a ton more emblem options come August 25/28. I can't fathom why they would make 400+ different dyes but not more options for guild emblems :P

I love the idea of Kormir (the person in the helmet) representing stonewall, given her story in GW1, and the shield representing vanguard. It's all quite fitting =)
