Well last night i was online from 9:30pm until 12:40am PST. I can see people coming in and out of the stonewall channel so not sure if any bug would be affecting me. I did see an officer ask another if they were there, but that was all I saw the entire time, similar to the night before lol. Someone here mentioned vent. Its weird, for me, I find vent very distracting because I can't hear the story, music, ambiance, etc when everyone is talking and for me that takes away from the game, while I do tend to multitask by reading the chat box while in a story scene. Regardless, I realize this isn't an issue for several others. Anyway, no one is to blame here, its just that anytime you introduce something that is not 'out of the box', like a created channel, its never going to be a seamless as a 'in the box' feature such as the standard guild chat and it does have an effect. I really am surprised Bioware would not have put in functionality regarding when someone logged in. That is so standard. Oh well, hopefully all these things will be addressed in the future. There are some really nice people in this guild, but it just feels very lonely unless you force yourself into vent. I guess everyone just needs to do what they are comfortable with. Its just a game after all.

Incidentally... just as an aside, the last logged in functionality is now in game and can be seen through the guild window. It must have been added during the recent patch. It certainly wasn't there beforehand.

Shh... don't repeat this too loudly, but I'm right there with you about Vent. I have a hard time multitasking in game chat and gameplay without trying to focus on a vocal conversation in a regular MMO.

With SW:TOR's focus on cut scenes it's downright impossible so I only use Vent when it's needed.

I haven't looked into the vent channel yet. In WOW, we only use Mumble/vent when doing dungeons/raids, not for general conversation but I wouldn't be able to pay attention to that, all the chat channels and the cutscenes at the same time. "Too old" to want to do that much multitasking..... :P

Ok I think my guild window is broken because I don't see it unless it's a permissions thing.

For me it's an option in the last column where you can select from things like member note, rank, etc.

Yeah I think there are a few factors as to why it's been a bit quieter, but I don't think the "split" thread was one of them. No-one has deleted their profile or left the site over that.

It's back to work for most of us, and the free month is now over so a few members who were trying out SW:TOR have decided not to sub. We expected that though and we are grateful so many people decided to try it out with us in the first place.

Plenty of people spent an awful lot of time in-game because it was new, so they are probably taking a bit of a break as they are all Star Wars'd out for now, but they will be back. Also the buggy chat channels are a problem that I hope Bioware fix soon. I still have to rejoin the KoS and LoS channels at times, even though it remembers my settings, they're not visable when I log in occasionally and I miss some comments.

We noticed a lull in activity in Stonewall Fleet around the same time after launch, and I can assure everyone that things always pick up again. Part of the problem may also be that if you see nobody else already talking, you don't want to start a conversation, and until someone does, it stays quiet. That never lasts long though and at any time it can get very busy and active again.

I mentioned in the "State of the Guild" post that we may need to disable the in-build guild channels if we see people socialising outside the private KoS/LoS member channels, as we want everyone to be able to socalise together. I've not seen a problem with this yet, but if anyone else thinks it's becoming a problem, send me a message and I can open a debate thread on what we should do.

What is the status on adding officers to the ranks in KoS?

I'm on nites from 530pm -10pm EST and I rarely if ever see an officer on. At this point it's just the captains taking the brunt of the work. There is little to no response from the guild management in game.

We have folks leaving the guild on a daily basis (2 last nite that I know of).

At this rate we will not need two guilds since the membership has dwindled down. If need be kick some of those who have decided to not keep their accounts active and those lvl 1's that have been sitting there.

I understand the O's have "stuff" on their plates right now but it would be nice to hear from the officers in game. And I don't mean logging into KoS for 10 min once a week just to say hi.

Honestly I have to agree with Van. We may only need one 1 guild soon if not already due to the members leaving. However before we start kicking alts we should ask members to volunteer to take their unused alts out of the guild until so we can get a clear picture of how many members are actually active in the guild, and decide from there. It is awefully quiet and hard to tell who's on since few are using the shared chat other than regular members.

To be fair, there hasn't even been many officers up till now. So, my hats off to those that have been trying to shoulder the responsibility. The application period just ended and there should be some new officers promoted soon. Of course, they will need to meet and get up-to-speed on various things. But, I believe their promotions will help with at least some of the issues that have been occurring.

There are many things that need to be done. But we have to take them one step at a time. I still have faith that things will get better. :)

Believe me I do too. I joined this guild because of this forum site. It is such an open, honest and accepting community that I couldn't resist joining. I want all the best for this guild and I am here as a Captain to aid the current and new officers in this mission. There aren't many groups like this and I think the need for it in our community is pivotal. I am looking forward to all of the future guild get-togethers in game and hope until the official ones are planned we Captains and Officers can plan some unofficial ones to spark more community and guild unity.

One of my biggest problems with WoW for instance was that I could never find a guild I connected with and as a result never got to experience the deeper levels of the game which for me sucked. I am glad that I, and my other guild mates, will never have that problem in this guild. And I volunteer my services to anyone at any level, on the Republic server for now, to call on me for help with missions, datacrons, or just to chat. I know my fellow captains will say the same thing and I want all the members to know that we are all here for you split or no split. We are one guild on a mission to unity the galaxy through community.

I hope that the officers are selected for each side. Selecting offices who "sometimes" play on one side or the other is not going to work as they will rarely if ever log in and work with the guildies.

At this point here are some interesting numbers about the guild membership in KoS

410 members listed
12+ lvl 1 and 2 toons
50+ folks who have not placed their names in the member note section as we've been asking folks to do for the past 2 weeks.

I did not count numbers beyond what I listed that is why I put + after the number.

I understand there is a carebear approach to guild members but at some point if folks are not going to help out the current leadership and do something as simple as place their name in the note section then they should be removed to make way for those willing to following instructions.

Again just my nickle and dime which I know means zippy.

I'm curious so I'm posting because I need clarification. What would an officer being on and in the guild actually matter? I thought the big point behind being in a guild is the members and the unity. I keep hearing people mention that Officers need to be seen more but I'm really not sure how that affects what a guild is or how it is run (as long as they are doing the tasks they need when they are on).

There will always be way more captains/members than there are officers and I am really not sure the expectation that people are having. I know there was an opening process and they are going to be announcing officers but who knows out of those members who actually play from the Republic side or who play during what times. If there wasn't anyone who plays republic who offered I wouldn't think you'd deny others who are willing to assist with some of the menial tasks taking away from their game time. I know when I was a Guild Master I was just always thankful for help I honestly didn't care what time or whatever people played.

Sure people have left in a large guild this always happen. You have people leave and you have more join. It is a constant cycle that is actually one of the best benefits of being in a big guild.

Anyway I just wanted to ask because I'm honestly confused and wanted clarification. Please don't think I want to start a fight or an argument my mom always said, "If you don't know ask" so that what I am doing.

I understand your not trying to be arugmenative, I'm in the same boat. But it seems that everything is always a "prove your point or it holds no meaning".

Having offices on gives a comfort level to the membership. Sorry this is just a fact.

The officers are the ones monitoring guild chat, answering questions from the guild membership, hosting guild events and every other thing an officer does in a guild.

If there are no officers on, who is going to handle these kind of functions? The captains? Is the membership suppose to handle these things?

What happens if we have another disruptive member in the guild and there are no officers on? What is the membership suppose to do? Sit there and take it while we wait for an officer? Oh I know...take a screen shot and then what? Please don't toss at me the "ignore them", I already have several guildies on ignore due to their posts in guild chat.

We will always have more members then officers or even captains but if you never see an officer log in or if they are only logging in for just a few minutes how is that supporting the membership or giving the membership some level of comfort that their is a leadership, direction and support?

Maybe all the above doesn't matter to the officers?

As always this is just my perception and opinion.

A lot of that makes sense and I also think that when we start having our membership meetings that it will help a lot for people to know where officers stand and know they care. I've personally gone out of my way to contact the Officers (which I know others can do) to express my concerns and have never felt that they didn't care.

Either way thank you for helping me understand :)

I think that when the officer application process completes, a lot of the issues mentioned will go away...

At the moment, you don't see officers because there are only three split between three guilds, two factions and the site. At some point, they've got to be able to enjoy the game as well - I haven't seen officers been able to do this for a while. I'd burn out quickly if all I was able to do with administration and official functions.

The way to fix this is to appoint more officers - We all know this is in progress with applications closed.

I think there needs to be more patience for a few more days until officers are announced, promoted and start getting into the swing of doing their duties. Agitating and increasing the pressure on those few officers who are doing the hard work at the moment isn't going to be effective. Give the processes that have been implemented time to work.

Very sound advice, thank you.

Sorry for any hurt feelings. I'm going to follow some great advice once given to me by my Great Grand Mother............

I hope to get ingame more once I've got everything working like clockwork. I know that some people would like to see the officers on more and we have 3 new officers starting tomorrow who will be announced later. However, we don't plan on doing any babysitting and a lot of our work is done on the website as much as in-game. With 6 officers spread over 3 different timezones, not everyone will see us regularly in game, I've tried to switch up my sleeping pattern this past week so I could be on a few nights at US evenings, but I won't be doing that all the time as I need to sleep, lol. I just want to say that even if you don't see us regularly, we are still there.

There are 20 Captains spread across all the in-game guilds equally, who are available to help any member with any problem at most times.

All the officers can be contacted 24 hours a day via PM on the site and they will get back to you as soon as they possibly can.

I also hope that everyone knows that the real heart of any guild is the members. I know how good this community is and I'm looking forward to seeing everyone helping everyone else.
