Getting Ready

December 10 2011
What are you doing to get ready for TOR? Are you making a costco and stocking up on hot pockets and mountain dew? are you tuning your pc up?

Personally, i cant stand mountain dew and hot pockets make me break out in hives. But i got this program called Auslogics Boostspeed that repairs registry errors, deletes superfluous files, and defrags your HDD.

Since i decided to wait to build my new gaming rig till ivy bridge comes out next year (had the case and everything :( ), i figured id do everything i can to tune this one up. If anyone wants it you can get it HERE

I am stuck traveling in England for work. I think I will be in the Cotswolds or Lincolnshire on launch day. Just praying the hotel's internet is sufficient to run the game. *fingers crossed*

Since I don't know what day I will be given for early access I haven't taken any days off this week. Main thing to do once I get into access is to roll up my smuggler (main) and Jedi Knight (backup). Once I get them created and named I can rest easy.

I did, however, take a half-day on the 20th so I can swing by GameStop and pick up my CE. Like I always say -- the best Christmas gifts are the ones you get yourself...and I've been a very good boy this year. 0:)

I feel your pain, brother. Today I've gone to the launcher no less than 20 times to see if any new patches have been installed (none, so far). I've also tried to play Dragon Age II yet again but log out after 30 minutes or so. I've even tried to reallot my skill points to my Star Trek Science Officer since they were all reset when the F2P model went live, emphasis on the word 'tried'.

Is this what ADD feels like?

OMG I know how you feel, I have tried playing DCUO, STO and Second Life and I cannot even get into them. I have been watching movies and even then I am not really interested... Virgo said "Is this what ADD feels like?" I guess so.. I have never wanted to play an MMO this badly, ever *shrugs*

Actually, those that preordered first "should" get access first. The word is that access will be staggered beginning the morning of the 13th.

I've beta tested games including this once and imho, it seems that granting access based on preorder is a fair way to go (even though I didn't preorder in the beginning).

It has been really hard lately! I've tried playing Dead Space 2, ME2 but meh... I've played WoW almost daily for years but now I can't play more than about 30 minutes or so.

One thing that is helping with this syndrome (we need to name it) is re-watching the films. I can't believe how many details I'm catching this time and making connections about people and places. Even though the game takes place hundreds of years before Episode I it's still given me a whole new perspective on the lore in general.

Oh, and I bought the Old Republic novels and just started Revan. It's really good so far!

Gay Geeks FTW!!! ;)

After playing a ton of Skyrim/Batman Arkham City/Assassin's Creed Revelations the past couple weeks, I've been sticking with just Netflix the past few days.

I consider it the eye of the gaming hurricane before I leap back in with TOR. lol

I get the "no active subscription" message.

Ditto on the 'no active sub' message.

I think there was 1 or 2 small patches uploaded yesteday before everything was taken down for maintenance.

I'm in the same boat as the rest of you,,,bored with the games I have. WoW was canceled in November, it was a fun 7 years. I log into Rift since I'm a guild leader there and need to show my face daily.

Today I made Chocolate Italian cookies and Meringue Stars, tomorrow it's traditional Christmas sugar cookies. Baking helps make the day go by. I also finished a quilt for a friend, she and her husband are gonna be so surprised at Christmas!

I'm a big coffee drinker so I've stocked up on plenty of different coffees and soy creamer (food allergies cann't have milk). I'll also take time out for dinners and lunches on my days off, I have no idea how I'm gonna pull myself away from the keyboard to go to bed since I work Tuesday thru Thursday. That is if I'm lucky enough to get in on Tuesday, part of me hopes it's Friday that I get access.

I know how you guys feel. everything i play just isnt TOR. Ive been sticking to netflix (catching up on warehouse 13) and audiobooks (listening to Swordspoint now) cause i just cant seem to focus doing anything else. I feel like an addict going through withdrawals. you would think waiting for this game for the last 3 or so years would get easier with it being so close. ITS NOT.

On a side note, has anyone noticed the TOR site has been down for 'maintenance' most of the day? Oh well. guess i'll go refresh my gmail yet again :( oh look... wow wants to give me 7 free days to come back and play. they must be getting desperate.

Shoutout to Jagerbolt for Batman Arkham City, how cool was it? Catwoman stole the show though. took me two days to get it working on my pc. Then they released the patch a week later grr

Yeah I've tried to fixup my pc system better, XanderXY. And no, mountain dew or hot pockets. Instead the pantry is stocked with enough junkfood to last me through the launch period. Chocolate, coke, chips, yummy euro snacks from Aldi, etc...okay I should be shamed. Haha!! But nah not fat.

And I agree with the rest you guys, so bored everything else is ruined. I've finished all the solo games I've got here, Batman AC, Saints Row3, First Templar. I even bought that new Lord of Rings game in a moment of weakness, and finished it in a day...lame.

Trying to fix launch day problems has killed some time, maybe I'll head to the movies, haven't seen Immortals (yes i know, heard the bad reviews). Can't think of anything to read. Even porn is boring atm hahaha!! Ok going away before I shame myself further haha!!

I posted a response on mmorpg.com that basically said that this weekend must be pure unadulterated hell for SWTOR, BioWare and EA. When you take into consideration how many e-mails they have to prepare and send out letting everyone know what day their early access starts AND assigning servers to the guilds that qualified for pre-launch creation AND wiping the forums so that only players can access them, they gotta be mucho stressed.

Plus the fact that early access was bumped up 2 days early? Yeah, they gotta be going nutsy bobo. :silly:

Yep, got SWTOR on the brain here too. It sure is a strange malady. Been watching youtube vids of Hutball and Alderan PvP zones to get a fix before Tues.

Played COH F2P,
Checked the launcher, "no active sub",
Made a carrot cake and some cup cakes with the extra,
Checked the launcher, "no active sub" ,
Hung out with my band rehearsing for a Christmas gig,
Got home, checked the launcher, "no active sub",

This waiting is turning me into an obsessive compulsive SOB...

They took the site down today to wipe it clean and only allow those who redemmed a code to make posts. I think I have it right. Just saw posts and I think it's back up. 10:18pm EST

2 days 1 hour and 42 min...EST

EDIT: SWTOR site is back up but the forums are down till Tuesday the 13th. I guess there was a lot of garabage to haul out of there. :P
