OFFICIAL: New Star Trek series premieres January 2017

August 11 2016
Some new information was released by Bryan Fuller at the CBS All Access panel for Television Critics Association: http://trekcore.com/blog/2016/08/bryan-fuller-reveals-long-awaited-star-trek-discovery-details/

Quick Facts:
- Story won't be focused on the starship captain, but a female LtCmdr and how she relates to events around her. (She's yet to be cast.)
- Diversity is a strong focus of the show; will feature a lot of Star Trek alien races, including reimagined canon races.
- Main cast will include a gay male character.
- Set a decade before NCC-1701's five year mission (circa 2255), will deal with an event that's been mentioned on screen. (Some speculate the Sheliak Treaty. Confirmed not Kobayashi Maru, Battle of Axanar or Romulan War.)
- Amanda Grayson (Spock's mother) and Section 31 may factor into the show in some way.

Hope to see a few Stonewallers there.

At the last Destination Star Trek Cryptic turned out in force and even arranged a session in the pub for players

I still have the signed Voyager MSD poster they were handing out :)

SOCIAL MEDIA TRANSITION
STONEWALL GAMING NETWORK

As many of you know, Stonewall Fleet has long since had an active social media presence on both Facebook and Twitter under the Stonewall Fleet name. We've been excited to interact with you all there, but as the Stonewall community has grown and expanded into other games including SWTOR and GW2, our social media presence has been slow to adjust to our community's increasingly diverse demographic.

Those of you who follow our feeds will know that we've been addressing this by including SWTOR and GW2 themes in our posts these last few months, but until this point, it's all been under the banner of Stonewall Fleet. In the near future, this will be changing to be inclusive of our community as a whole, thereby encouraging increased representation from our SWTOR and GW2 communities in our social media interactions.

What will be changing?

On Monday, August 15th, Stonewall Fleet's Facebook and Twitter accounts will be re-named to reflect Stonewall's entire gaming network.

How does this affect me?

It probably won't! While our social media account names and graphics will change to be more reflective of the entirety of our community, the transition should be seamless for our followers. You won't have to 'like' or 'follow' any new pages.

Questions?

If you have any questions or concerns, feel free to share them here, and we'll do our best to address them!

In case anyone else runs into the same issue as me, after updating Windows 10 with the Anniversary Update, Arc was broken and wouldn't launch. To get it to work again, you have to uninstall Arc (you have the option to keep all installed games, so don't worry) and reinstall it. After that, it works.

The 50th Anniversary of Star Trek Las Vegas Convention 7th Annual Stonewall Meetup (IMPORTANT TICKET INFO!)

August 10 2016
Well i just got home and have been reading this and wanted to add my thoughts. I am going to be more honest than i perhaps normally would be but i think this is one of those times that deserve it.

I have seen people going to Las Vegas for years now and people have been telling me to go. While this was the first time i had the money to go i have actually been very reticent about going for similar reasons to Nick. I am quite shy and nervous with new people and new situations so the idea of going on holiday alone with people i had never met in person was a very scary prospect to me. Coupled with my own insecurities about body image and the like it meant i was incredibly nervous heading out there.
My experience was just like Nick's everyone was so kind and welcoming. While we officially go for the convention it is clear that really we go for each other. I enjoyed the convetion immensely (alot more than expected) but it paled in comparison to meeting these people in person.
I only wish the holiday could of been longer.

If there are fleeties out there thinking they might want to go to vegas for the convetion i really hope that you do, you will have a fantastic time :)

On this trip to Vegas, I lost my luggage, broke my tablet, had a gout attack and had to go to Urgent Care for medication and forget my phone in an Uber, (I generally consider myself a pretty lucky person, but Vegas seems to be the antithesis of this.) and it was all damn worth it to meet you wonderful wonderful people. I'd love to list all of you by name, but I still can't remember everyone.

Losing my luggage actually taught me a valuable lesson in humility. The name Nicholas means virtuous or “the virtuous one”. I've always tried to live by that. The Seven Heavenly Virtues are chastity, temperance, charity, diligence, patience, kindness and humility. Pride has always been one of my downfalls. I've avoided going to Vegas for years because I don't like the way I look. Being forced to wear the crappy clothes I grabbed from Walmart and seeing you all accept me as I am made me realize that my appearance wasn't ever important. I thank you all for accepting me and that idiot who took my luggage for helping teach me this lesson.

Over the years. I've been told over and over again how grateful people are that I created this community and I've always appreciated that, but I had no idea the extent of what this community was until this week. I am deeply humbled and proud of what we've all created.

Nick, I can't tell you how happy I am that you decided to come this year. I love that you had such a good time and that so many of us got to meet each other in-person for the first time. This was a record turn-out for our group, roughly 20 Fleet members give or take. It was an absolutely amazing week of special memories and epic fangirling.

It's a very bittersweet thing, these conventions ending. The time seems to go by in a blink, proving the old adage that time flies when you're having fun. For those of us who are veterans, this is a feeling we're all too familiar with. But we know that we'll see each other again next year because that's what we've done for 7 years now.

I want to take a moment to explain why our annual meetup in Vegas is so special. It's not just because of the convention which is truly EPIC and always well done, Creation Entertainment sure knows how to put on a show, lol. It's about the people and the friendships new and old that we forge each year and we maintain through social media and when we get together it's like an extended family reunion and we keep adding new family members each time. That's the magic of STLV and if you go, it'll cast its spell on you too. ;)

So eloquently put! And...it's exactly how I feel too. It was such a terrific experience. It does feel a bit surreal too and now that it's over, I want it to begin again.

Sad I didn't get the chance to meet more of you or make it to the meet-ups but with 6 people traveling I had to keep the hubby and others content. *I'm painfully introverted unless I know you. So I stuck to my safe place*

I did get to say hi to Zander at the Millennium bar before a couple friends fell ill *5+ lemon drops in an hour not a good idea*

I'm pretty sure I saw a lot of you in the hallways. Awesome outfits.

Hope to make it to another Con in the future just my gaming friend and I!

Hope everyone had a fantastic time!
