I'm entering the code in the signature box and clicking the "save" box, but it's not saving my preferences. When I make a new post, it's not putting my signature banner up, and when I go back into my profile settings, the code I'd originally entered in the signature box is not there, even though I'd saved it.

Other Star Trek Games

October 25 2010
We had an interesting conversation on fleet chat yesterday about other Star Trek computer games we had played and loved. What are some of yours?

I think the farthest back we can go (and still be on a computer) would take us to Net Trek, which was kind of an adaptation of the old Star Fleet Battles RPG for mainframe computers, mostly at universities. (Anyone play that? Or am I dating myself?)

There were many fond memories of the ST 25th Anniversary Game. I've got the box in front of me. It came out in 1991 (obviously), for MS-DOS 2.1 and higher, and boasted:

* Full 256 color VGA graphics
* Thousands of state-of-the-art, 3D digitized, space action scenes
* Interact with alien races and artifacts
* Navigate Kirk, Spock and Bones on a variety of world explorations
* Complete musical score from the series and major sound board support
* Easy to use, point-and-click, icon interface

Sadly, it came on five 5.25" floppies. Even if I booted my laptop into FreeDOS, I'm afraid it doesn't have a 5.25" floppy drive. :(

What were your favorite predecessors to STO?

in a lifetime long ago, I dated Scott Wolfe

Seriously? I didn't even know he was, um, dateable.

This from IMDB:

Director Doug Liman originally did not want to cast him in Go (1999) because Katie Holmes was already in the movie, and he did not want the movie to star 2 TV actors. However, he saw him talking in a hallway with Jay Mohr and realized that the chemistry between the two would be good in the movie.

(He and Jay played the gay couple in the movie "Go!" They do make a cute couple.)

A ship in the harbor (or spacedock) is safe, but that's not what ships are for.

No matter where you go, there you are.

Jedi Creed

Jedi are the guardians of peace in the Galaxy.
Jedi use their powers to defend and protect, never to attack others.
Jedi respect all life, in any form.
Jedi serve others rather than rule over them, for the good of the Galaxy.
Jedi seek to improve themselves through knowledge and training.

This is a sacred duty. When you have kids killing themselves we must do what we can to protect people from homophobia and violence.

The Jedi Code

There is no emotion,

There is no death,
there is the Force.

I didn't get a thrill from he first episode, but will catch it up on Hulu.

In other breaking news.. they just got a green-light to do a new Battlestar series on young Bill Adama and the first cylon war. Should be exciting stuff.

in a lifetime long ago, I dated Scott Wolfe - this was back when Party of Five was on the air. Love "V", even if it's weird seeing him on it, but good on him - excited to see what happens next on the show! I would have been terribly disappointed in ABC Family for doing that. I'm still miffed that they dropped Kyle XY!

You are still very young...

I loved the old V and I like certain things about the new V. SciFi shows are limited, so I like to watch them all.

I want a new ST one and would love Babylon 5

I agree, I was very young when V was shown in the UK, but it stayed with me and provided some truly great TV moments (the gerbil, yuck). I hope they don't follow the recent pattern of US TV shows where they try to stretch the storyline out and then have to resolve everything in one episode, or not at all, as the network have suddenly cancelled it.
