You are right :) That is why I said the ideal team; it can be done with others perfectly but after running as many as I have (you saw the numbers :silly:) I can concretely say that 3 tacts, 1 eng, and 1 sci is the ideal mix (in my opinion) -- of course you will be able to do it with 5 of any class but maybe not in the shortest amount of time

Thanks so much for reading it though and sharing feedback! It means a lot :)

Nice article Brandon.

Before my own wall of text, I will preface this by saying I have only run each of the Borg STFs once and still consider myself a newb at it (especially The Cure and KA).

That said, the only thing I would quibble with is the "ideal" team build cited in the article, and used for the sign-ups for the fleet. Gavin lead us through "The Cure," running a team of 4 Science Officers and 1 Tactical. Even with 3 of us being complete and utter newbs, we completed the STF in under 2 hours, substantially less time than the normal "fleet arranged" team that was running at about the same time. If I recall the final tally, it was about 1 hour and 40 minutes when we excluded the bio breaks.

Mike and I ran Infected with a PUG before we joined Stonewall, and once we determined the best person to lead, we did fantastic with 2 Engineers, 2 Sci and 1 Tactical. As a matter of fact, I recall that in the last room, we were in such a rush to get the 4 corners down, that the jumpers wiped trying to get back into firing position for the final boss. One Engineer managed to tank, and complete, the final battle entirely on his own, preventing us from a reset.

And the only reason I quibble about it at all, is that Mike and I partnered our way up to VA. Once we got the Task Forces, it became more difficult to stay in lock step because I have been able to get into the STFs easier, as a Tac, where he has to wait for a Sci slot to open up (and I would guess he isn't the only one).

The use of alternate kits (such as Geo on Sci) can change up the tactics enough to make successful alternative team build outs viable. Thinking back to Infected, Gravimetric Shift would have been great to locking down the respawns that could interfere with the Jumpers. In Khitomer Accord, having a couple of Sci with Gravimetric Shift would help hold off the attack waves when you are taking out the shielded generators(?) in the final room.

I am looking forward to running the STFs a few more times each so I too, can learn to lead them, and eventually take the opportunity to experiment with non-traditional team builds.

Well this is what I get for not reading enough... Wikipedia to the rescue. :3

The first laws barring consensual non-monetised homosexuality in China were in the Qing (pronounced Ching) Dynasty. It was at this time that much mixing with the west imported not only sciences and philosophy but homophobia.

Is it me, or has it been the western monotheistic religion(s) that has done all of the spreading of homophobia?

Attitude=me by the way, but I tend not to use the attitude handle outside of Champions Online/STO as i see it as a bit of a mistake. Oh well.

I had great fun last night and I am no seriously considering being on ventrilo ALL THE TIME.

Living in New Mexico I know that many Native American tribes held gays placed gays in high status, for many years.... until the Spanish came.

Well thats the first of many cheesy pop events over and done with! A huge thanks to all who attended.

Lets get to the math, we raised well over 700 data samples with around 20 rares between our participants and some very generous donations! Here is the run down of who came what;

1st- Zerpari
2nd Attitude
3rd- Eventhorizon

A very special thanks goes to Flounder44 for his more than generous contributions.

These lucky winners will get to request songs for the next event which will be held in 2 weeks time, the 21st of April at 9pm GMT, 4pm EST and 1pm PST. For now... CheesyPop, out!

I'm trying to think of the first culture that reviled gays.

I don't recall the mention of it in Chinese history, but it's possible that Mao's regime erased mention of anything objectionable from the history books. (Mao was a bit of a nut job. Believed that he was the smartest, most well educated man in the world and imprisoned or executed anyone with a higher education than himself.)

I never really got into Egyptian cultural history, but I do remember that other cultures of that era (Pre-christian Rome and Greece) were very accepting of gays (Emperor Hadrianus of Rome, for example, was gay).

I'd be curious to know the answer to that question.

I'm not sure about non-European cultures, but the earliest anti-homosexual laws were based by Constantine at around 400 BC during the decline or end of the Roman Empire.

Data Sample Farming Made (slightly) Easier!

April 07 2011
If you're like me you probably just want to veg out and farm as much as you can in as short a time as possible. With the games built in Autopilot you can!

THIS IS NOT BOTTING as you must press a key for each step. this won't work if you're not at your computer.

It takes just 4(x3) easy steps!

1. Do explore missions until you get an Aid the Planet mission.
Do a quick scan for clickies.
If there are 4 anomolies (a.k.a. Om-nom-olies) then don't complete the mission.
(If there are fewer than 4 complete it and keep lookin'.)
2. Accept the mission but don't complete it.

3. Go to the first Om-nom-oly and get to less than 1 km away.
now type
/loc

it should give you your coordinates something like
-430 -42 727

Now you should bind this to a key using the Autopilot command:
NavToXYZ
. I use the number pad for this since I don't usually my NumPad. Also you have to put a 4th variable at the end which is the distance the autopilot will get from the target coordinates before it stops. I usually put a 1 (one map unit)
4. Type the autopilot bind as below with the coordinates you're given.
/bind Numpad1 Navtoxyz -430 -42 727 1

Do the /loc and keybind for the other 3 data samples.

   /bind Numpad2 Navtoxyz -857 -751 942 1
   /bind Numpad3 Navtoxyz -1326 -237 36 1
   /bind Numpad4 Navtoxyz 188 551 -1896 1

Now, Abort mission/Depart system

You should see the mission in the notification area (usually on the screen's lower right)
Click it and it will take you back to the Aid the Planet mission you were just in, but the Data samples will be back/respawned. not only that, but in the exact same place. always.
So, push your keybind (I push numpad1)then go to full impulse power and it will take you straight to the Om-nom-oly AND stop there. (the first one you may need to click the keybind 2 times or it will just keep going straight, and sometimes it orbits the data sample, but you can still scan match the frequency and pick it up)

My only question would be: Does this mean most cavemen were more enlightened about sexual orientation then the bigots are today? They allowed this guy to grow to adluthood and gave him full burial rights according to custom.

I wonder if the caveman westboro baptists protested his funeral.
