The big problem we have nowe is EA have taken over the beta testing, its no longer with funcom as thios part of that EA are getitng involved with. Notice now how EA is before funcom on all the videos and stuff now.

I got in by preordering the expansion for conan, it was a special offer for a spot in the closed beta. It didnt say when or what part. I am assuming it will be close to the end of closed beta but will see.

With EA taking a more active role in the production its beta style is not to be desired. It wilol be a usa closed only is EA have theior way and use a set selected group of testers. Yes it sucks I know but im hoping that the app is a good one and represents well what an oranised fleet of freinds can do together. It worked before with many games. But we will see. The game is headlining several times a week now in all the right places and is coming to the e3 show so im assuming thats when thye will announce the beta dates (along id funcom is in control) lots of beta codes.

You know my interest flounder and my computer can handle anything.

What headlockman said though I was in Age of Conan, got a character to level cap and purchased the expansion and I haven't heard a thing about automatic beta entries. :ohmy:

My guess is that we're not going to see any real changes--at least in the short term. STO is a good game and the devs are taking it in the right direction. My guess is business as usual until Season 4 hits. Its level of success will probably have a pretty big impact on the future of the game, but I think that was the case when Atari was running the show. From what I've seen about Season 4, I'm pretty optimistic. Fingers crossed!

I don't think F2P is any closer, they also own the company that makes Torchlight, and by all accounts, that company didn't change their business model after our new overlords bought them. If STO was going to go F2P it will still do so on Cryptic's terms and schedule.

What I did like to see though, is that Perfect World are interested in the Cryptic Engine, that could mean more investment into that for more features and such. I just hope the games using the engine are still safe.

For this, I am going to take a "wait and see" approach. However, with this coming out only a week after Atari announcing their intent to sell, its obvious this deal has been in the works for some time, especially for what Perfect World have bought them for, nearly $50 Million.

I am cautiously optimistic about this, hopefully this means a press release from Cryptic sometime this week over it all. Least the new overlords are in a more finanically stable situation.

As for the no time travel, if STO had to go over to a Chinese market, it is likely they would do a seperate server, like they have done with WOW's expansion. I think their first expansion only came out there a few months ago, yet didn't affect the release we all get.

is F2P a bad thing? The forum junkies on STO official forums seem to slate it something rotten

F2P seems to be closer now than ever before. Will they let Cryptic continue to work the way they have been or will they be made to keep time travel out of missions??? :silly:

Might be a good thing that an Asian company has bought it, might shake things up a bit.

Being the fickle creatures we are a lot of people will jump ship when Star Wars Old Republic comes out anyway. Its only a game peeps :kiss:
