Whether you discover the gay reference in "Spirits of Ramok Nor" depends on what branch of dialogue you take with Boson.

I must have missed this on my first playthrough. I'll have to reply later to watch for it.

@Alimac: I had played your mission a few weeks back and really enjoyed it! I didn't realize that it was published by a Fleetie, though! Loved the closet scene with the subtle head nod to the community :) The guys over at STOked plugged your mission too, didn't they? I think that's how I found out about it. Good work on it!

Yes - they did plug it on the STOked podcast, and Jeremy was very complimentary about it! So I'm very grateful to them for that!

Thanks to you, too, for your positive comments. Feedback from Fleeties always means a lot :)

I'm currently working on my next mission... there's a map I'm building that has fences arranged in a circle... the Y co-ordinate changes with the slope of the ground and OH MY GODS it's driving me to drink. But I'll get there. I love the Foundry really ;)

Looking forward to playing 'The Wounded Wolf' later

@CaptDry: lol thanks - I had to look the word up when that guy submitted the review, and was kind o surprised when I found out what it meant, hehe. To each his own, though!

I know what you mean about the Foundry limitations cramping style and imagination. I had to remove a few really cool elements from the mission due to spawn problems etc. Every idea that was outside of the linear "kill this and scan that" routine was a nightmare to implement.

It's too bad: I think there'd be a lot more great missions out there if the Foundry was a little more user friendly.

Glad you liked the mission: thanks for the comments :)

Thanks everyone for the support! I'm excited to see how the mission ends up being rated, and to see if people enjoy it.

I just played it, was really good. I enjoyed the story. My boffs got stuck a couple of times in the compound but thats a foundry glitch nothing to do with you. I too got sick of working my ideas around the foundry limitations. Gave ya 5 stars coz you're worth it :-)

PS whoever that guy was who babbled on about Lucasian v Trek in your review is clearly off his rocker. It reminded me of TOS.

Both came down for standard maintenance. There won't be any changes for some time, as it looks the deal is still being finalised and such, even after that, the good old Atari logo will hang around for some time.

Cryptic's logo is still attached to CoH and its been a good few years since they left them.

I suspect that I might face an uphill battle with my mission ratings, because of the gay content

There's a gay reference in my mission, 'The Spirits of Ramok Nor', where you encounter a Ferengi and he mentions that one of the male characters on DS9 has a husband. I've had over 2000 ratings so far and have read every single one of them - only two people have said anything negative about the husband reference, and around six have said that they liked it or actually thanked me for including it. The vast majority haven't mentioned it at all - and I'm optimistically taking those "no mentions" as tacit approvals ;o)

So I take those figures as pretty hopeful, though it is only a very brief mention in my mission... it'll be interesting to see how a mission that has the gay character more centre stage is received.

I hope and prey that you won't receive negative feedback - not least because this is not just any MMO, it's a Star Trek MMO, which ought to embody Gene Roddenberry's vision for an enlightened humanity: no discrimination based on outward appearance, respecting and seeking out infinite diversity in infinite combinations.

I am ashamed and deeply disappointed by any person who calls themselves a Star Trek fan and then makes a discriminatory comment based on sexuality.

Can't wait to play through your mission. I'll give it go when I get home tonight :o)

Mildly off topic but .. Servers and forums are down right now which seems unusual as I dont recall them doing it before. Anybody think today is the day the rebranding takes effect and the forums get 'purged'?

Will definitely have a good run at it! and you know what, it's a great idea :) Star Trek online's quests weren't diverse....now it is :)

its amazing how different countries attitudes come through on the official STO forums. The outlook in the UK is often different from the USA. I read a lot of anti china comments pertaining to debts they owe the US and Communism etc.

I know I say this a lot but STO is just a game and pinning historical sensitivties on a games company is bizzare (at least from where im sitting)

I wonder if Cameron and Obama are monitoring the STO situation closely... I think not lol

I too am sad about that thread. Many of the people posting in it must have zero common sense as do they really think that the people who are looking at buying STO don't actually skim the forums of the people they are buying?

I agree it doesnt look good for us, but I am sure Runic had a similar kind of outburst when it happened to them and now their forums are clean as a whistle. Hopefully it will all turn out for the best in the long run.

Since that forum post is quickly becoming toxic and a place to be insta-banned, I thought I would share something I found out here...

If anyone has been watching that thread, you will have seen there are many negative, anti-China views and this spells doom for the game. What people might not see is that Cryptic will more than likely be under Perfect World Entertainment, the American subsidiary. This company is located less than an hours drive from Cryptic in Los Gatos.

I can't wait to see what will happen now, and hopefully quell some fears if anyone is worried.

[Gay Content Foundry Mission] The Wounded Wolf

June 02 2011
Hey everyone!

I've spent the last few weeks creating a gay story driven Foundry mission!

Summary:
Dispatched to the farthest reaches of Federation territory, you must deal with a fellow Captain hell-bent on revenging himself upon an alien race, following the death of his lover.

Mission includes:
Immersive dialogue, space combat, ground combat and puzzles.
Approximate run time: 60 minutes
Team play friendly

I suspect that I might face an uphill battle with my mission ratings, because of the gay content, so if you try the mission and enjoy it, please leave favorable feedback! =) I'd appreciate any detailed feedback in the forums, as well =)

Enjoy!

The big problem we have nowe is EA have taken over the beta testing, its no longer with funcom as thios part of that EA are getitng involved with. Notice now how EA is before funcom on all the videos and stuff now.

Oh dear.

EA is what killed Earth and Beyond when they took over development from Westwood Studios. With their fists of ham and their fingers of butter, they did their best to turn as much of the game into a time sink as possible, permanently shelved human scouts and Progen traders and after they had chased off enough players, shut it down for good.

I'm just hoping they stay as hands off with Secret World as it appears they have been with SWTOR.

I'm optimistic about this too, Cryptic has got some real good things going for it right now and this company that wants to expand into the US market gets that so I doubt they'll be meddling with it too much.
